healing is such a high stress, high pressure, high skill role. I've played dps for 15 years and just started trying healing. I never knew how insane it was
Lol! 15 years of dps for me, too, and I just swapped to disc. I’m having more fun than I have had in years, but hell yeah … healing seems like a much more challenging game.
funny enough I'm the exact opposite of you, been playing a healer in mmo's since the early 2000's and recently started trying to be a dps and it's so stressful for me compared to when I'm just healing.
My hot take on roles in M+ is that they only differ in how fast people notice they are trash at it. Tank: instantly. Healer: after one or two pulls (except you blame everything on others). DPS: some never really do.
Switching from dps to healer main for the first time in 15 years … 100% agree with you. I noticed one of the biggest things holding me back in keys was holding onto my defensive cds way too long “just in case,” rather than being proactive.
i think the real issue is that dps players can't be (giving the benefit of doubt here) aware of where the damage is coming from and they get carried by the healers/gear until they get to a keylevel where they just get 1shot and then they start learning
Another thing about being proactive is to notice who the target of a dispellable debuff. If you are quick enough you can actually dispel the dot without it ticking a single time
I see all kinds of other people not helping us - so its NICE to see someone so positive and so good helping us civilian key runners out! Keep up the great work Jak
When it comes to pugging, the amount of dps that don't actively use their defensives, and only pop them when they see their health low is shocking. Your defensives as a dps is not a "Oh shit" button. It's what you pop going into tough pulls to ensure you survive when your bursting your load.
Something I realized this season- those individuals with the highest Io are most likely running 100 plus more dungeons than you. Yes they are good but also running 100 more dungeons than you teaches you as they have so many more hours in that environment than you.
I'm curious: how are your pools that much visible on the second boss of Everbloom? The green is very flashy and it's very easy to see them. On my end it's way more nuanced and I have to be hyper-focused to properly see the pools once they've been dropped.
It's your monitor or your graphics settings or something. Try playing with them and seeing if you can see better. :) Hope that helps. For instance, try playing in a higher setting. Make sure your ground clutter and projected textures are on
I feel like Mistweaver is a lot more reactive than some specs, but I definitely still have to plan. When big groupwide damage goes out having chi-ji up is crucial.
"If the healer dies, it’s the tank’s fault. If the tank dies, it’s the healer’s fault. If the dps dies, it is their own damn fault." -- said during the first WoW MC Raid
Initial reaction to healing this season was negative but after playing and playing (always solo btw pugging) and getting a full set..its actually decent rn..Playing holy bc i dont like disc this szn..btw Holy is pretty dang good and slept on rn..its cool when you get a full tier set bonus going so im happy now..I dont like resto druid tho atm..dont like the whole grove guardians build playstyle personally so my alt is gonna be resto shaman this szn..but yea thats my thoughts..if i had a team it would be really fun to push 26s and higher but im in the 20s to 23 range rn until i slowly progress..also Everbloom is unplayable for me how bad it lags and freezes..no idea about how to fix that but its been like that since start of this szn..but yeaaaah.
Hi Jak. Im currently playing an hpala, and normally I beacon my tank and 1 ranged DPS. Are there any other mechanics in which you are beaconing your melle or yourself (besides spiteful affix)? Even if beacon is normally in my top 3 heals I feel is sometimes underused. Thank you
Hey Jak, are you using the new Dreaming Devotion enchant on your weapon? I’m using it for holy but not sure about disc since it only activates on healing spells
Do you have any good recommendations for a add on or weak aura that will indicate when a party member is being targeted with a dangerous spell or a spell that will require heavy healing? I have the dungeon pack weak aura that shows when I am getting the various mechanics. And I have the weak aura that highlights frames when I can dispel something on that person. But having a visual highlight when someone is about to be hit by an ability that is dangerous would be nice.
its called: Targeted abilities. on wagio. It shows the symbals on your partyframes, so targeted heavy dots, are shown just that 1 or 2 sec earlier. Takes some time to get used to, you still have to learn and remeber the symbals ( a lot unnesscery will also show) BUT you dont want to play without it once you have it. Your welcome.
@tomdelo8050 ah thank you. Yeah, you usually know what abilities you need to watch for. But it's hard to look the cast bar at all times to see who it's targeting and get things rolling on them and setup for the damage.
Hey@@tomdelo8050, I'm trying to find what you mentioned, but all I fiend is Targeted Spells WA's. Could you link the actual WeakAura? Much appreciated!
If your able to I’d offer ElvUI with the lucky Ones layout/plugin. Very simple to install and requires a couple other addons but the UI change made the biggest difference for me.
thanks for your tutorials- helped alot :) the new 2set bonus for disc priests confuses me. it says smite n penance extend atonements for 2sec, but it doesnt work all the time. I’ve tried so many times, is there only a percentage thst it procs ? i thought its 100%
I wish rapture would just work like radiance except its shields. I hate using this cooldown because of how much time it takes to apply shield to each party member, Just apply a shield and atonement to all allies. And for raid the talent tree should have a second option to just have regular rapture.
Jak great video as always. I play a Holy Paladin think im 477 Ivl and RaiderIO 2500. The issue I have is when trying to push keys, if im after a 19 for example and last timed key is like a 2 star 17 why is it with pug grouping for that 19 is unlikely? Then I have to attempt to time an 18 so I can increase my chances for a 19. I 99% pug and it seems this is the way. Very challenging trying to get to 3k RaiderIO.
Top tips from a 3.2k healer with an active Aug alt - be proactive with preventing damage (kicks, knockbacks, tail sweep). Rescue shield appropriately (note: it's not always best to Rescue me as the healer as I'm not that squishy, please Rescue the hunter instead!). There are so many poisons this season, please help with dispels. If you have your AoE heal available, please use it, it does help! Remember your own defensives, and using the AoE damage reduction with good timing is amazingly helpful. Helping tanks control pulls is waaaaay more useful than trying to eek out a tiny little bit of min-max damage from DPS, that's generally the main take away.
@@LiberterianShoelace I´m sitting at 3,327.5 Rio atm which is Worldrank 16 for Holypriest, purely pugged, so yeah, i´m pretty sure i don´t need carrys. Doesn´t change the fact i pretty much get ignored for 27s which makes no sense since for DHT Holy imo is undeniably better to handle the bleeds and ST drops.
@@synchrogods did you read my comment? I said people who gatekeep are the ones who require carrying. If you are playing holy high end it clearly doesn't apply to you xD
