Fun fact about the Volcanic Pistol, it was extremely under powered in real life. It was developed before brass cartridges were developed so what it did was hollow out the back of the bullet and put the gun powder in that cavity with a bit of cork to hold it in place. This meant that there was very little powder to propel the bullet so it traveled very slowly. The gun was so weak that one guy bought one to commit suicide and returned it the next day because when he held it up to his head and fired it just gave him a nasty cut.

I love how the game calls the guy trapped in the basement of the gunsmith a "side business"

Little note about the Lancaster : just with split point ammo (that you can craft any time with just normal ammo), you can one shot people fairly reliably if you hit the torso.

I was able to get a bolt action rifle early in Chapter 2 by going to rescue Sean at the first opportunity. It was dropped by one of the bounty hunters. I'm not sure if it's a dedicated load out or if it was randomly assigned, but - damn - it feels good slung to your back so soon into the game.

I wish we could sell those guns we don't want.

The SOUND of the Pump-Action is far more satisfying than the Semi-Auto Shotgun. And in a game like this... nugh said

In my experience, the Volcanic Pistol hit's much harder than the Schofield revolver. Plus, you have three more rounds. It might be slower in the firing, but as I stated, it hits harder.

Micahs revolver is the best double action revolver and one of the best in the game. May have lower accuracy but it really puts in work in mid range engagements. With express rounds it does almost the same damage as the scofield but also has a faster fire rate

In Saint Denis, near the trapper is a guy on the street who is selling ammo, after you bought some ammo he will try to sell you a Golden Revolver, rarest gun in game, not mentioned anywhere..

Every playthrough I wanna use something different as a sidearm but I always find myself coming back to the Schofields. They just look awesome with pearl grips and the animation for it

Once I got the bolt action that's pretty much all I ever used haha. It's so good doing cover shooting. Repeaters are good for horse back and dual revolvers for shooting up the town.

True legends know the Springfield rifle with express bullets is the best rifle out there.

The bow needs to be on this list. its so underused, and its a one-shot kill anywhere on the body and something like dynamite arrows can kill 5+ guys with one shot. totally worth the fire rate.

Love the Shotgun up close but not enough instances where I wanted to use it. Only weapon you can blow heads off with standard ammo. Really fun to use

Reloading speed is not always relevant, since you can do an automatic reload each time you activate dead eye (even for a split second).

For the Lancaster Revolver you can also just do Micah’s mission

I have a bolt action chambered in 30-06. You definitely do not want to get hit with that round. My most fun rifle to shoot too. Devastating and accurate at 1000+ yards all day. Cool video, thanks.

I like the mauser pistol more because of the higher ammo count, fire rate, and reload speed. I'm going for headshots most of the time so they last a bit longer than other pistols

I think the biggest advantage the bolt action has over the rolling block is the ability to put iron sights on it. That's a really big deal when hunting, which I do a lot.

Now that the LeMat revolver is now in with updates, it’s an absolute beast and a must have. Higher power and accuracy than the schofield, 9 rounds in the cylinder compared to the normal 6, and the capability to literally blow someone’s head of with the secondary shotgun function. Add the long barrel, rifling and improved sights and you essentially have a killing machine that you can stick in your pocket. Only flaw I can think of is the slow reload but it’s not much compared to everything else it offers

Side note based on personal experience (unless I’m doing it wrong)...If you’re hunting and the animal in question calls for a “rifle” for a clean kill, go with the Rolling Block or Springfield. For some reason the bolt action always reduces a 3 star buck to a 1 Star, no matter where I shoot it. Hope this helps. Happy Hunting

My preferred loadout is the called the Blackwater Massacre, the dual schofields a itchfield repeater, and a pump action shotgun, I call it that because its the only weapons you can buy in Blackwater.

One reason I pick the pump shotgun over the semi auto is for the time period the semi auto shotguns were very new so not all the kinks were worked out when released in around 1891 and one of the major kinks that happened was the reload mechanism getting Jammed. Another thing I wish rockstar added was if you had the double barrel shotgun and held the Tigger down it would fire both barrels

Personally, I like to play with the evans repeater, it sounds awesome, high accuracy, decent damage high accuracy=easy headshots, with 26 bullets that’s a lot of death

I have found that the 1899 pistol is a very reliable pistol. With express rounds it puts enemies down in 1 or 2 well placed shots

I agree with you with 4 out of 5. I personally enjoy the Springfield rifle over the bolt rifle. The reload speed is better.

The volcanic pistol is FREE at the gunsmith as soon as you get to Valentine in chpt 2. As well as the Pump Shotgun and Varmit rifle. Also, you can get the Pump Shotgun at "Ches Porters" in a bedroom loft. You can "Occasionally" get the Bolt Action rifle when you go to rescue Shawn in chpt 2. When going up the canyon full of guards, the "First two" guards, the one on the left, "sometimes" has one you can pick up.

I go with the pump shotty anyway, I love the feel of it and any shotty is a good shotty in RDR2

There's one more thing I'd like to ask. I'm not familiar with the Dead Eye system. How did you mark the enemies and fire? I can't fire until I've marked all the bullets of my magazine clip. I play the game with PS4 by the way

There’s an early story mission (about mid chapter 2) where you and Dutch rob a sheriff’s wagon don’t know what the mission is called but the dude in the passenger seat has a Lancaster repeater. Thats where I got mine.

The volcano pistol does more damage than a Lancaster FYI it’s always a 1 shot at close to medium range and you can dual wield them

The best gun in my opinion is the Mauser or the m1911 pistol duel welded they have good stats instant reload and are deadly with dead eye. People may say there bad because of range or something... but they are the best for killing any amount of people. Tip:if you use dead eye it will instantly reload the weapon which mastering that will make the limat revolver insanely good give it a try. One last thing out of the Mauser and the M1911 there both equal but I like the Mauser better in stile and for how i play

Just an update you can get the bolt action really early when rescuing Sean, it's probably a random spawn but for me one of the guards was carrying this rifle and well I helped myself (regretted the fact I didn't have any rifle ammo so I was stuck to a revolver)

I got the Bolt Action from one of the bounty hunters when you rescue Sean early chapter 2.

My favorite revolvers are the no. 3 and the Lemat. Lemat is useful for large battles and close range. And the no.3 is great for accuracy and power.

I love using volcanic dual. They feel really good. Most enemies die with just one or two hits...

The game changes loadouts and unequips them so much I mostly relied on handguns. Precisely, dual wield m1899 and semi-auto pistol with express bullets. Need to restock it often, but very easy to manage many enemies in short-mid range.

You can get the mauser early when angelo bronte throws one at john And you can get a bolt action on one of the bounty hunters in the saving sean quest

When you take the Schofield revolver if you wait an officer will try to investigate the gun shots if you hogtie him you won’t get a bounty (have your mask on)

Duel wield m1899s for late game, schofield+double action for earlier game, Litchfield, repeating shotgun (that extra shot helps)

The Springfield is probably the best single gun in the game.

If u upgrade revolver Cattleman it's better in every stat expect damage but ist a very small difference (comparing upgraded cattleman to upgraded schofield obviously)

Even though the damage is less I usually duel the LeMat because of the quick swap to a shot shell. Sometimes I go back to Midnight's pistol.
