As a so called “4C” curly girl who’s been watching RU-vid naturals for over a decade, this is the first channel where the advice has actually yielded good results for me, and my hair type isn’t even represented here. I almost wonder if that’s the benefit? Probably because his hair advice meets the universally vital needs. Not so distracted by textures.
@TheJoyce306
@TheJoyce306 Год назад
That’s because most of our education on natural hair is based off of our individual experiences. Because he’s in a professional space, he’s working with far more textures than most of these RU-vidrs do. This isn’t to take away their education but that’s centered on THEIR own experience :)

UPDATE: For me PERSONALLY. It came out to be a toss up like anything else… but I’ll stay rocking with that olaplex #3. Ultimately it came to a conglomerate of what I’ve learned from all sources over the years. I mean essentially it is pretty similar to the loc method. Over all I’m just done with extensions, weaves, and elaborate braid styles. I know some type 4’s hate to hear it but your hair won’t grow down your butt till you just wear it normal.

But then I saw this episode where you said coarse hair and I instantly got that thought out my head. Ever since I began watching your channel and less black women I have seen a different in my hair. I really appreciate you being honest and transparent in a world full of facades. I have been struggling with alopecia and telogen effluvium since 2018. This is excellent advice. I create products and have developed toners for over 10 years. It is really difficult trying to get people to understand the double negative of purple shampoo. In fact, with every brand now bringing out a purple shampoo I don’t think blondes realise some purple shampoos can actually ruin the tonal blonde your colourist created. A lot of purple shampoos are very alkaline so the cuticle raises so the acid Violet 43 can deposit. However, if your colourist has used an oxidation colourant or toner, this alkaline purple shampoo will just pull out all that permanent blonde tone and cause the hair to get more and more yellow. Purple shampoo will be fine on raw bleached hair but on well oxidation toned hair it causes the hair to become brassier which then makes the individual use it more! Drop me a line if you’d like me to explain more. Best Scott
@kbisamfg
@kbisamfg Год назад
So then what do you recommend people use to refresh/keep up their toned blonde hair? I’m licensed so I’m able to purchase my normal toners (Redkin shadesEQ) and apply them but for someone who isn’t a licensed cosmetologist, would they have to go to their stylist for just a tone in between bleaching/lightening appointments? Also: Is using only a clear gloss toner (Redkin shades EQ) to brighten/refresh the color a good idea?
@sesam.koernchen
@sesam.koernchen Год назад
I bleach and dye my hair by myself but English is not my first language. How do I know I‘m using an oxidation colourant? I use a 1,9% developer and Wella Koleston as a gloss.

Thank you for this! I have used high end salon products and humble drugstore products. When it comes to shampoo and conditioner, I find that the water in your house has as much to do with the condition of your hair as the product itself along with how you treat it when you style it. Dove super-hydrating products work as well as Pureology and much better than the Moroccan Oil line on my dry, curly, aging hair. Gentle, lukewarm, minimal heat, accounting for moisture needs and regular trims are superior to spending $45 on a bottle of shampoo.

This made me laugh. I have always wondered why people use so many products on their hair and on their skin. I read one post where someone was asking about what order they ought to use the 6 - 9 products they use on their skin. I use two things on my hair - shampoo and conditioner (not expensive ones). I don't wash my hair every day, When I do, I wash my scalp with very little shampoo. I use the conditioner from about mid way down to the roots. Whenever I go get a trim, the stylist remarks on how healthy my hair is. I admit I don't do much with my hair - rarely blow dry, no rollers, no hot irons, don't dye it, (love my greys coming in) so that may be part of the reason I don't have damage. I just don't buy into the marketing of the eight millions products you 'have' to have for your hair or skin.

I LOVE Olaplex - my hair is particularly heat damaged and I’m addicted to straightening so I use no.3 several times a week with no.2 (got a bottle from a stylist) on the weekend. Then I use no.9 and a really tiny amount of 6 mixed with a few drops of 7. It took a while to get the “dosage” right - the smallest amount of 6 and 7 is *way* better, the smallest you can get away with. I also shampoo and condition with Milkshake Moisture Plus, which are the best I’ve ever used. The cost of living is biting a bit now so I’ve been buying salon-size bottles as it works out cheaper per ml in the end.

Hey how has this routine gone for you? I’m wondering if I should purchase an olaplex product too and other of his recommendedations. But I’ve wasted so much money on bad products so now I’m scared 😭Thanks

You’re right about the scalp scrub.I had dandruff, and this is what worked: -shampoo time longer ( 2-3 minutes) -shampoo (lather rinse and repeat) if you use a lot of products -comb flakes out with a fine tooth comb before you shower - Nizoral 2X a week until flakes are gone- then once a month. I also like how shiny and bouncy my hair looks after Nizoral. My hairdresser would also point out the dry scalp I had. She tells me that my scalp looks way better. Dry and irritated scalp will deter hair growth imo.

@@jjohnsengraciesmom Nizoral is a life saver, but you should see a dermatologist because there are different types of dandruff (aka dermatitis), if you have seborrheic dermatitis you can use nizoral twice a week and then when it settles down 1/2 a month along with a Spanish brand called isdin. I got rid of seborreich derm but I still have oily scalp, I got things from the dermatologist but I'm still struggling with greasy hair and oily scalp...

@rosa fracchiolla How did you get rid of your seborrheic dermatitis??
@fidgetykoala
@fidgetykoala Год назад
@@ariroxyoursox556 hey you should see a dermatologist because every case is different, however as it goes for myself I used Nizoral consistently and another type of shampoo for daily use off the pharmacy. It's now back and I'm going to use Nizoral again, it's a recurring skin problem but with Nizoral it can stop for a while. Then you need to consult your doc for your maintenance plan, vitamin BB based products are usually recommended.

I’ve watched about 15 videos now and in the majority of them you have recommended Olaplex oil. To watch this video and hear you give a super honest, non-supportive review of olaplex with no hesitation was like, “wow 😳” this dude is being real. I have very long fine hair and have caused a lot of damage and loss (unintentionally of course). I also have gone many years without cutting due to religious reasons. … At times I’ve been very discouraged that the hair I have will only get worse and I’m only 40. (Have a lot of years to go still!) I’m ordering the products now and hoping this will save my hair! Thank you for the info I am curious and haven’t heard you talk much about the health effects of some of these products? It’s known that products with fragrance are often hormone disruptors. I’d like to hear your take on that side of beauty products. Thanks again @BlowoutProfessor

Thanks for such a great explanation about this products. I laughed on the moment about a “food for hair”. 😂😂😂 But It’s true, I had such experiences personally and didn’t find it as an effective thing at all. Honey and other things I tried are just dried and damaged my fine hair more.

I have a question about static. I’m using everything you recommend for fine hair including Olaplex 3. I blow dry after using Redken Big Blowout, then straighten with the recommended Redken heat protection. Does the static mean my hair is still damaged, or should I be using moisturizing products? I used to wash,dry, and style my hair every day, but since watching your videos, I’m doing a three day schedule. Also, it’s very humid where I live, so it can’t be from dry air. Help from Chris, or anyone else would be very appreciated. Thanks for your awesome videos!

I love Amika Overnight Hair Mask! I use it to refresh my hair midweek cuz my hair dries out and I wash it only once a week. I only use it on my ends and put a heat cap on for about half an hour. It won't work as well as hair mask after showering but it gives a little boost if you have very dry hair.

Redken is owned by Loreal. I compared some products at drugstore that had both, one was a heat protector - Same Indgrediants!!! Try Loreal Products, they are cheaper than redken and the same

Hi and thanks. I really appreciate the channel. I have very damaged, highlighted hair that is exposed to the elements more than most. What shampoo/conditioner do you recommend? I currently use Olaplex but after watching this - not sure that’s best. I use No 3 once a week, No 6 when I blow dry and No 7 too.

I do have several questions: (1) what about Soft Silicone, Scalp Scrubbers? Do you recommend them? (2) What about WOW hair straightener? Can you comment? Thanks
