The thing with tyson is that because that was a redemption island season, tyson was fairly confident he would be able too come baclk in the game
@bigbuffguy9589
@bigbuffguy9589 3 года назад
That's true, but I think Peridiam is still right because I wouldn't want to take on Laura Morett in any kind of challenge. Sure, she actually lost to Tina, but Laura is one of the best Redemption Island players ever. Tyson should have just played the idol when he saw what a mess that Monica and especially Gervase were making in that tribal council and how persuasive Hayden was.
@petermcgill3405
@petermcgill3405 Год назад
True, but redemption island ended with four people in the main game so the returner would be the fifth Most likely Monica or Gervase would get voted out after Tyson, so even if Tyson came back, he would be down in numbers 3-2 and an easy vote if Hayden can beat him in either of the last two challenges.

I'm gonna get ready for the pitchforks, because I know she's got a lot of fans here, and this is bound to be a hot take, but I'm ready for it...Parvati not telling Russell about her second immunity idol. Now hear me out here...by Parvati hiding the idol from everyone except Danielle, that gave the already paranoid/impulsive Russell an excellent reason to vote Danielle out so Parvati would lose her number one ally, and Jerri, who was probably the only villain who benefited from that vote, because it moved her one step higher on the pecking order, was all too willing to go along with that plan. Downside for Parvati was that once Danielle was voted out, she'd already run out of people she could beat in the end, because it's a very good bet that either Rupert or Colby win if they manage to get to the end, Jerri was surprisingly UTR enough that she stood a decent chance of winning the jury votes, and by that point, I think Parvati had started to figure out that this was gonna turn into a very pro-Sandra jury if she reached the end

You know, Jeff should have helped Mike finish that move. I truly believe the reason Mike went back on his move, is because it seemed like Jeff in the midst of the chaos (Because he too was caught off guard in light of just how out of left field and awesome that move was) seemed willing to accept items that were already sold back. Because Carolyn seeing Mike had turned back not buying the letter, freaked out and said, I'll take my letter back if Mike is not buying a letter like we have agreed. I honestly had applauded during that shot of Mike turning back to go and sit with his $500 because I thought it was such a mafia 'Boston Rob' type move. I watched it several times, I thought it was that brilliant. Jeff should have stepped in to say 'Goods once sold, will not be accepted back.' and I think Mike would have stuck the move.
@lilstojda
@lilstojda 6 лет назад
At least he shouldn't have said "Mike, you don't want your letter?...". I mean it wasn't his duty to tell everyone Mike didn't buy his letter. If they noticed it good for them and if they didn't notice they should have paid attention. However Jeff acted like a snitch to me.
@D_SQ
@D_SQ 6 лет назад
Or that. Good Point. Although Jeff likes to throw in some commentary on significant moments in the game, like in challenges for dramatic effect. Maybe this was one of those moments where he really wanted to highlight that Mike wasn't going to take his letter.
@wherethetatosat
@wherethetatosat 6 лет назад
Yup. I don't fully remember the order of everything that happened that season. But I do remember thinking, Mike has the willpower to forego a letter from a loved one. He *earned* that advantage.
@TheBBallEnthusiast
@TheBBallEnthusiast 5 лет назад
I absolutely agree. I thought it was unfair that Carolyn was able to give back her letter. How come Trish couldn't give back her rice and water that she got at the auction, or Brenda and the cow brain, or Shambo and the sea slug guts? But to play Devil's advocate, Jeff did say that he was extremely shocked that Mike didn't take the letters. Honestly it was a very good move and clearly no one held it against him that he considered it.

@Arkaine197
@Arkaine197 6 лет назад
I agree wholeheartedly with the number one choice, even though I really liked Mike, however that being said I really don't know if he still wins without making that fuckup. His votes at final tribal were mostly picked up through people's respect for the mega hard game he had to play to get there and he was still able to pick up Dan's vote with a heartfelt apology. A lot of the really cool moves he made like threatening to save Shireen with his idol and forcing the main alliance to fracture wouldn't happened if he'd not torpedoed himself at that auction, his game would have been a lot safer sure, but a lot more boring and a lot less impressive, I really think that despite being as dumb as it was, that move is the defining moment that put him down the path to claiming his winners seat.

I mean it was not totally a bad move. If he had played the idol and assuming Katie still goes to RI and Laura would have given the clue to new idol to Ciera and then she and Hayden would found it and since Ciera wins the next immunity challenge Hayden would have played the idol on himself and ultimately led to Tyson going home

It’s not technically the final six though because either Tina or Laura were basically coming back in the game, maybe Tyson if he picked the rock because of Redemption, so he’s in the game with two more final fives with huge threats or chances it in redemption, i don’t know what happens to idols in redemption

Also with Tyson, I think he slayed king Aras a few rounds too early. At the final 7, Tyson allowed there to be 4 loved one players vs the 3 returnees. If the loved ones got together one round earlier, they could have easily taken Gervase or Monica out (considering Tyson played an idol at final 7). Obviously it didn't end up mattering, but that was another huge and unnecessary risk that Tyson took.

That's true, but I think the circumstances that led up to that were harder to predict than in Blood v Water. With the way that tribal council was going, Tyson should have been able to figure out that the risk of Ciera flipping was very high. Hell, he had just played an idol at the previous vote because he was worried about a small chance that Hayden and Caleb might have the numbers on him.

I want to see an episode where you pitch a season of survivor (where it's all returning players), describe the theme, the players and why you chose them, the twists, etc. For instance, I'd love to see a season of returning players where one tribe is players who were voted off first versus players who won. I won't go into it all here because that would be too long, but something like that would be cool.

I thought Tony's attempt to have a secret Final 3 deal with Cass deserves to be on here. It felt obvious from the start that there was no way Cass would seriously consider it and she was going to tell whoever would listen. If Woo wasn't...well Woo, this could have seriously damaged his game. Tony's blowup (though iconic) didn't look good for him either.

Bob's fake idol to Randy wasn't a bad move at all. Sugar held all the cards at that point and she basically held a gun to his head and made him do it. It served its intended purpose because Sugar was the sole reason he made the finals instead of Matty. Randy voted for him to win anyway, so the calculated risk was definitely worth it. Otherwise, can't argue with your list. Really enjoyed the breakdown of Tyson's non-play of the idol. I feel like an honorable mention should go to one of my favorite winners and best players ever: Sandra. During the Rupert vote in Pearl Islands, she completely misreads the vote that night and throws a vote away. If Lill had voted with the Drake alliance at that Tribal, then Sandra unwittingly knocked out her ally in a 4-3-1 vote.

To be fair in Tyson's defense. I think he really believed in Ciera not going to flip. Probably still going through the talks of tribal, Ciera wasnt really giving anything to correlate that she would flip so Tyson probably felt unknowingly comfortable. Theres always the thing of "yeah but he could have calculated ahead of time" but really when your at tribal its hard to analyze what will ultimately happen since this is pre game changers and no one is running around the tribal set getting answers.

Saying the jury was mostly voting against Sugar/Susie and Bob just happened to be there isn't really true. For Randy it clearly is but Marcus, Charlie, and Corinne all really liked Bob and were happy to vote for him. I think you can also kinda defend Tyson's move - didn't he expect Ciera to vote with him? I forget how open she was or wasn't about flipping before the first votes were read. In any case I see his logic because he's a favorite to win pretty much any RI challenge and even if she does flip the odds are in favor of him surviving, and then he can use it the next round where he might be an even bigger target with no other chance of survival. I think he made the right call but yeah it was definitely a risky one. (Also Jenna giving Immunity to Heidi is maybe the most underrated move in the history of Survivor and def not an honorable mention!)

If Tyson expected Ciera to still vote with him after how that tribal went, he was a moron. Ciera initially wasn't going to flip, but Hayden (and to some degree Jeff) were very persuasive, and Monica and especially Gervase were incredibly unpersuasive. The other problem for Tyson is that he actually needed both Gervase and Monica at Final Tribal Council to win. He could have protected his entire alliance but chose to take a 1/3 chance to lose the game on the spot.

Not sure about Jenna being on this list. It's not a great move, but it was pre-swap, and the only thing that really went wrong is that Heidi ended up on the other tribe after the swap. Jenna herself wasn't really in much danger because of it. I'd say that Tina blindsiding Jerri when she did was much worse, as Amber could have (and should have) flipped immediately to the Kuchas.

He handed the women the majority at the merge, and although his last man standing run was very impressive, he put himself in the position to need that run when he could have kept a John K and had an easier path to the win. I'd replace #5, because Tyson explained that his choosing to go to rocks had a lot more thought behind it than it appeared on the surface. He knew that Redemption Island was a thing on BvW, and he was confident enough in his challenge abilities that he knew that even if he drew the white rock, he had a pretty good chance of winning enough duels to come back in the game. So this wasn't just him taking a chance on dumb luck, but making a calculated risk
@bigbuffguy9589
@bigbuffguy9589 3 года назад
Tyson's explanation is dumb, though. If he gets rocked out, Gervase or Monica almost certainly get voted out next, and then Tyson can't get to the end with both of them anymore and loses at Final Tribal Council. It's also pretty risky to take your chances on a Redemption Island duel against Laura Morett and maybe Monica. Both of them are very good at challenges, and there's no guarantee that Tyson would have gotten back in. No, he just made a really bad move.

In survivor Game Changers he told Tai to play his idol. However Tai didn't play it for himself. Tai played it for the person that he and the majority voted for. This sent one of his biggest allies home Malcolm. If JT didn't tell Tai to play his idol than it would be all good. 3. Not all hope was gone for JT, JT had an idol. But right after the tribal council that Malcolm went home JT screwed up again. JT was dumb enough to think he had enough votes to send Michaela home. That was not the case. He should have played his idol instead he went home with an idol in his pocket.

I really don't think he was that close to losing it; Jake hated Clay for a comment he'd made earlier in the season and was never going to vote for him, and I don't think the other Sook Jais really cared. Helen was never going to vote for Clay either since she didn't respect how he didn't work hard around camp, something that was way worse to her than Brian's betrayal. He also managed to poison the well against Clay by making Ted think he was racist when really he just made that comment up. Not the cleanest or most honorable way to win, but it worked.

The thing about Tyson is that in the extended tribal council, he chose to pick the 3rd rock. He was smart enough to know that probability says his chances were far less than the expected 1/3. He wasn't being lucky. He was playing the odds that he'd survive and could play his idol later. Nonetheless, if he did draw the rock, he knew he could win back through Redemption Island. It was safer in the long run to save the idol for a more crucial moment.

I'm still dumbfounded on how JT convinced several people in Tocantins to sacrifice their game for him. "JT is so nice" BUT YOU STILL SHOULD VOTE HIM OUT!! The game went up a notch in being cut throat after Tocantins because "nice" never meant "not voting you out" anymore. Every time JT played again no one trusted him blindly like in Tocantins so his strategies got exposed as too trusting.

Also something didnt mentioned in number 5 is that if Tyson uses the idol even incorrectly, we dont go to rocks, because Ciera would see she is screwed because only her or Katie can go home in a rock draw, and why take a 50/50 shot with a rock draw, when she can stay in the game 100% by flipping back and voting hayden in the revote in a 3-1 vote, that way she stays in the game but also can save a little bit of face with her old alliance, given she helped them vote out the biggest threat of the minority, I still think Ciera wouldnt have won, but at least she would have ended 4th
@bencalebrod

I have to agree AND disagree with your #1, because Mike's intuition wasn't wrong. He knew Rodney and Will were making an alliance with Tyler and Caroline, and that he, Dan and Sierra would be on the outs come Final 7. The thing I do agree about your reasoning is that Mike should've read the situation more closely. Dan was SO blind to the alliance's true intentions, and Sierra wasn't looking to make any move that was risky. So by doing what he did, Mike alerted Rodney, Will, Tyler and Caroline of his suspicions AND he made it easy for them to turn him into the tribe pariah. He wasn't wrong to be paranoid and actively make moves to shake things up, but he wasn't playing it subtle. Sandra in Pearl Islands did it in true legendary fashion by having the girls eavesdrop on Burton and Fairplay.

5. Tyson isn't as much to blame as Gervase and Monica. If they had just shut his mouth Ciera never would have flipped. Also as Tyson pointed out afterwards he never gambled his life in the game away. Because there was RI that season he was fairly confident he could beat anyone and make it back. You bring up a good point about him playing the idol. The thing is had Ciera stayed loyal he just wasted yet another idol and is in a situation where it would make sense for people to get rid of him. After all he is a huge threat. The right move would have been to play it, but him not isn't as bad as you make it out to be. It was gamble that was a huge risk, but at that point a big reward too. He plays that idol another one goes into play and as we saw with Ben that could have screwed things up. 4. Yea Jenna wasn't much of strategist. Unnecessary and just flat out careless. 3. I don't think it's fair to put Bob's entire game as a bad move. I mean he won. I understand it wasn't good, but based on your tile I feel you should stick to pointing out individual moves/decisions. His FTC was bad, so if that is your main case fair enough, but I think there have been more crucial errors in moves from winners. I mean he was going to win no matter what at that point. 2. Adam took a WAY bigger risk than the reward was worth with this move still think there are worse it could have worked with other people, but still bad. 1. Mike should have just stuck to his guns at that point. People were already pissed and going after him. Some I consider awful Chris keeps Julie and takes her to the merge, giving up numbers and control. Tom keeping Greg as long as he did. Katie was so close to going over to that aliance and had Caryn had any strategy she would have too. Brian's blindside of Helen, almost cost him the entire game. Jenna keeping Rob over Butch Just about all of Sarah's betrayals. She had horrible jury management because she kept going with other people's votes. She lost Sierra and Debby's vote for good. Parvati takes Cirie to what she perceives as final 3. Aras fights to keep Cirie and tries to take her to final 2.

AJL Brian's blindside on Helen is one of the best moves in my opinion. He knew that he would ALWAYS beat Jan and Clay in challenges so Helen was the only threat to his game considering there was no idols it would be bombastically idiotic not to vote Helen.
@ajl9772
@ajl9772 6 лет назад
It's not about voting out Helen, but it was the way he did it. Blindsiding someone in the old days was unnecessary for the most part, especially at the final 4. The 3 votes Clay received at final tribal were anti Brian (Brian had an awful social game). By getting rid of her the way he did, he gave Helen a very good reason for him not to win. Similar thing happened to Russell Hantz in Samoa. Jaison voted for Natalie to win because his number 1 ally (Russell) voted him out without telling him. I'm sorry, but if someone has to deeply consider voting for Clay over you, you must have done something wrong.

I would have included Fabio at final 6 of Nicaragua not getting an obviously pissed Jane over to his and Dan's side and forcing a rock draw when only Dan and whoever of Chase, Holly, and Sash they didn't vote for was going to be drawing. It was a clearly obvious way of possibly getting power for the rest of the game that Fabio was simply not game savvy enough to take advantage of.
@jonathanlee2099
@jonathanlee2099 6 лет назад
Chase and Sash both had and played idols though, so it would have been similar to what happened at the final 6 of Cambodia where only one person would be eligible for elimination in the rock draw (which in this case would have been Dan, and clearly between Dan and Jane, it's more beneficial for Fabio to eliminate Jane). Also, Fabio's only hope of making the final three at that point regardless of what happened was an immunity streak, which is contingent on him getting rid of immunity threats such as Jane

I disagree with the take on Tyson, he probably wins at redemption if he gets voted out and comes back in and easily slips back into his alliance and would still have his idol for a vote out at 5. By keeping the idol, he does not have to endure the risk of potentially not finding the idol or having someone else finding it first, as Hayden was still around. I see your point, but I do not think Tyson trying rocks was a bad move, I see it as a good one.
@Peridiam
@Peridiam 3 года назад
I look at it this way: Tyson plays the idol, goes to F5 with numbers, only has to find an idol at this F5 and from there he wins the same as usual or He doesn't play the idol, goes to Redemption Island, has to win 2 duels against two strong physical competitors, re-enters at F5 down in numbers, and has to win the F4 immunity to be in the F3 - where he may not even win given the combination of people (I could see Ciera or Hayden beating him). I think playing the idol is the safer play and guarantees a much easier path to victory had he not gotten lucky with the rock.
@baseballsoccer71
@baseballsoccer71 3 года назад
@@Peridiam this risk of not playing the idol is definitely large. Challenges are obviously no guarantee but Tyson has always been a strong competitor in them. I could see him losing but if I had to place a bet given the circumstances, it would be on him. I could have seen Hayden beating him but I don’t think Ciera does. Either way, playing the idol would have been safer that is true. As he also most likely finds the next idol at 5 if he plays one at 6 and another one is inserted as I would expect it to. I’m guessing his confident demeanor between his willingness to try, and in his mind win, at redemption is what led him to thinking that he would test fate with rocks.
