Vine snakes are horrible pets if you don't have a constant supply of lizard feeders. They're always eating, too. Look up the Candoia genus. There are ground boas & arboreal boas in that genus. But, yeah, anything Antaresia are some of the most awesome, underrated snakes out there. I have 3 myself. :)

Yeah, they (and ornate flying snakes, also lizard eater) are two of my absolute bucket-list animals ... Let's see if I will ever be able to have them. I know that they are not easy but they are stunning, their habit and size makes a great opportunity for rainforest vivariums and id love to breed them. With captive bred babies, you can also try to convert them to eat rodents (worked with other species too)

As someone who’s still mentoring for venomous after 2 years, can confirm. There’s a ton of factors beyond just the venom when different snakes tend to have different temperaments and needs. I'll say that Nerodia *can* make great display pets but you have to invest space and effort into the setup--a good example of a rhombifer or fasciata is really pretty, and a rhombifer can be pretty impressive size wise. But plan on a larger than you'd expect cage for a snake that size, and allow for a good swimming area if you want to really enjoy the snake.

Always wondered what the opinion is on white lip pythons. Worked an exotic pet store for a while out in Southern California, a few guys kept venomous snakes - one in particular kept death adders, rattle snakes, vipers, etc. He said the hardest part of learning to work with venemous snakes is there aren't other snakes that behave the way venemous snakes do, so it's difficult to learn how to properly handle them - especially the more aggressive/defensive species - in a safe environment.

We also adopted her momma and she is a little skittish but still pretty chill. The male we adopted has taken some work. He used to strike my husband multiple times while out but now he doesn't strike hardly ever. Took months of training by my husband. Still wouldn't put him up by my face but he is handleable. 😆

Antaresia are the best Amazon tree boa alternative. The only downside is that they're semi arboreal rather than arboreal, but my experience with antaresia is that they tend to put emphasis on the arboreal end rather than the semi end. They love to climb and I see my spotted python out and about climbing his branches atleast once a day. Even on looks, maybe I'm just a sucker for iridescence (I am) but I think they're comparably beautiful. If someone ever produces albino spotteds outside of Australia, it'd particularly change the looks argument since albino spotted pythons tend to look really cool.

I got 3 WC animals from this species but they're becoming more and more available captive breed (also what I plan on doing) and they're just amazing! @@whiteviper1979 they are young at the moment but I know they grow fast. I have boas and other snakes at present but as a reptile lover I obviously want something different, like we all do. I will always do what it takes to care for my babies in the proper way and I am 100 percent happy to receive advice as every day is there to learn.

@@deadbugdavey1744 my best advice on any reptile in general is do your due research! Unfortunately most people go out impulsively with good intentions and don't keep them properly or have the proper caging, racks, lighting, heating elements, timers, herpstatts, and etc and end up neglecting the animals and not keeping up the proper requirements such as heating and cooling thermoregulation tempatures or poor husbandry skills resulting in respiratory infections and scale rot or numerous other issues! If caught early enough scale rot and respiratory infections can be treated at home using different techniques as I have treated others people's abandoned animals before including a couple of my own! Antibiotics such as Baxril and Fortaz are critical live saving drugs for reptiles with respertory infections but must be administered properly or before the animal is too far gone! I recommend building a enebulizer X flogger chamber with heater and Herpstatt for different size snakes as they have literally saved some of my rescues if treated promptly in life threatening situations using F10 SC if that doesn't work your in trouble because most people don't have powerful antibiotics on hand nor do they know how too utilize them if they did when treating reptiles so make sure you have a reptile veterinarian lined up before things come too a life threatening emergency! MORAL of the story prevention is absolutely KEY 🗝️

As an experienced amazon tree boa keeper They are awesome snakes, worth keeping. If your all right beeing striked at every time you open a cage, that is just the way they are. I enjoy the thrill if them, they look intimidating and are actually a pretty handlabe if you work with them a bit.

Garter snake care guide? And also could a 75 gallon work for a bearded dragon or no
@503menagerie3
@503menagerie3 2 года назад
Nope-recommended minimum for an adult beardie is 4x2x2 which is 120 gal I believe.

A 75 gallon is ideal for a bearded dragon but bigger is always better for them just make sure you use UVB basking heat lamps in combination with Herpstatt and timers plenty of branches and rocks and hides as well! Garters are super easy too take care of but can and do musk while others don't it really depends on their personalities! They are semi aquatic and love water bowls and they eat earthworms, small fish, newts, salamanders, anoles, mice, small rats etc! They can be kept in pairs or groups as well as long as their is plenty of space and territories Garters snake species and prices range from $20 too $3000 and are very underated as well! Garter are tough as NAILS! So if you accidentally kill one due too poor husbandry you should just buy a prekilled snake that a taxidermist stuffed!

If I had the experience (and if I was stupid), I'd LOVE to have an Eyelash Viper. They're my favorite vipers for being so beautiful. But they're still vipers, and viper bites can be horrific.
