Awe inspiring. Peter's ability to change his touch, dynamics, time feel, and groove to fit every tune. Every tune was so seamless, like they were all movements in the same piece. That's a lesson in it of itself!

This is a superpower! I had to memorize about 50 standards in college and have them at the ready. But that was on saxophone. Having to remember all the voicings too is mind boggling to me.

The professional like you can go to any jam session and be comfortable knowing that they’re going to know most of the songs. Great video. I wouldn’t have minded if you played the whole song of each tune.

Great. If only you could be cloned. The only problem is that at most jam sessions I go to you only hear far less than the same ten tunes called. A number of reasons I would suggest. The narrow view of jazz schools teaching. Notable exception: Joan Chamorro in Barcelona. Also too, the decline in gigs at weddings, events, etc. You cannot do such bookings without a repertoire of jazz standards. No such gigs. So, no incentive to learn them. At a recent jam session neither the pianist or the drummer had a clue about the structure, or knowledge of, Milestones (New version) How can you be a student at a jazz conservatory and be unaware of one of the most seminal albums of the twentieth century. Somewhat depressing.

There are 15 tunes that I've never played here; I know the rest. I made a list of jazz standards that I know and play a couple of months ago; came up with 85. Not too shabby for a guy who has to play pop/rock covers to make a living. I guess you could say jazz is my hobby and pop/rock is my livelihood.

Thank you so much, gentlemen! That was sooooo fun! Some of those transitions you made on the fly were just wonderful and had me shouting, "yeah" at the screen. And your rhythmic sense is just...[chef's kiss]. I stood throughout the entire video and was on the edge of my seat (umm...even though I was standing...LOL). Awesome video! Please upload more like this and maybe playing the two of you together. It was really interesting to see how Peter arrived to the first note of the following tune so smoothly. Also, I'd like to know what are your suggestions in terms of arrangement and voicing to avoid sounding the same when playing similar tunes (bebop, ballads, waltz, modal, etc.)
