Another good one, Graham. These are really helping see things from the au pair side. We just filled out our "family essay" and completed our application. I hadn't seen this yet, but I emphasized the need for clear communication. I had a career in the military and bad personal commo was always the source of problems.

Hi! Thanks so much for watching. Communication is the #1 thing that I suggest au pairs and host families have a very clear image of. In my experience, almost all of my problems resulted in bad communication. I wish you the very best of luck in your search and let me know if I can be of any help!

Graham Cargle do you have any tips on how to write a good bio or open letter to a host family? Currently trying to make my Au Pair World profile and make it appealing? Thnx :-)

Kailash GD Of course! The most important thing is to be honest. In your profile/letter the host family gets to “meet” you for the first time, so you want them to see the real you! Be sure to talk about why you want to be an au pair, your past experience, your language skills, etc. My rule is that in your profile, you want to give someone the same amount of information as if they had met you in an elevator. You want to be concise, but also showcase your personality and skills. Does that help?

Hello Graham..i just started with Au Pair and yet i have a bad experiance.Some of them replay after 24h or sending messages in 2 in the morning.I need to warning girls to be careful with single fathers,dont get me wrong but some of them looking for a life partner.Also i notice most of the problems is with French hosts from Paris they are looking for slaves not nanny or au pair only to get a cheap babysitter.Thank you for your advices❤

I love it that my host family communicates with me a lot and it was something I emphasized on in my requirements. They also allow me to talk to my host sibling who is less than one year lol. I guess that's a "green Flag 💚" .I can't wait to join them in a month's time. I will be their first Au pair and it will be my first time as an Au pair too. Any other advice apart from the one's the you mentioned?

An au pair is cheap? C'mon. No former au pairs is a red flag? What have you been drinking?

In Europe, an au pair comes out to be 200-350€ weekly. Paying for a live-in nanny at a standard hourly rate of 20€ would come out to be 600€ weekly. I didn’t say having no former au pairs is a red flag. I said them not letting you talk to their former au pairs is a red flag. What I’m drinking is clearly not as good as what you’re drinking 😅
