I've just had this thought in my mind. Spear + shield of any sort in case you miss your thrust is just optimal in home defense situations, especially in countries that guns aren't common.
Got forged Spear from Amazon, fixed the tip, cooked it in the oven 450F for an hour and mount it on oak shaft, found Centre of gravity and did para cord wrap 4” on for better grip..Spear Head is held by friction and sodium bicarbonate and super glue total length 56 inches, reach is about 6.5 feet..Size is just perfect, not too long, not too short, Now I understand why Spartans liked shield and spear due to its versatility, because if I stab you in the foot, you are Fokked mate…
@@BumpyJones It releases the stress in material and you get nice Blue Colour (Blueing) that’s what Blacksmiths do,I didn’t invent it, it’s a process they use…
I do like crabs but this could be for hunting as well the modern spears do not have to be for defense of home protection it is for anything hunting and all that
Spears or javelins will 90% of time one shot kill even if you dont have a proper throw, its the best thing for bears since it doesnt cause excessive damage but only a deep entry wound@@jaycefiene9566
How amusing having these huge beefy guys and ones dressed in tactical Armour stabbing, spearing or decapitating dead chooks etc and don't forget the dramatic music lol.
The kicker is that those spears (both the crap stainless steel + the points the steel/shaft meet) are all prone to failure! They are playtime spears for cringe 'tough survivalist' types! But the music makes it all so much worse! Edit: forgot to mention the ColdSteel Assegai Spear is an exception here. It is pretty tough.
