Guitar Pilgrim Hendrix a virtuoso soloist not by a long shot. His solos sounded like he played with 2 broken hands & were out of tune. As for that innovative fuzz u speak of that was the absolute worst tone ever. Sounded like a cat being raped. What he was & will always be is the greatest rhythm player ever. Imagine If Hendrix could see a guy like Jon 5 or Bucket Head play. He would shit his junkie hippie pants. What are you gonna tell us next ? Johnny Unitas was the greatest Quarter Back of all time too ? Oh but you don’t follow American Football your a soccer fan lol.
Jonny Sac dude, a little harsh to say the least. I agree, the guitar greats of today or nothing short of amazing, John 5 etc included. But think about this for a minute. Jimi never had an army of predessors before him to learn from. The players today have had more influential players to draw from than Jimi had! He WAS the guy setting the pace. What he was doing was revolutionary and hadnt been done before. His song writing skills still stand up to this day in my opinion. His impact is still felt today, sadly not by yourseld, but give credit where credit is due and remember the likes of John 5 and Bulethead would likley agree that Hendrix was a master in his time and likley influenced them both.
Nice tribute; it never hurts to be reminded of Jimi's brilliant songwriting and unique ultra-cool approach to combining rhythm and lead guitar parts into the seamless, exciting guitar style he was so rightly renowned for! You nailed it!
@@carltaylor4942 Yes sloppy, dirty realy...This dude is too clean.. ofcourse this is his showoff video, but I'm sure that if we kicked him in the gutter for ten years he'll come out a better player...
I have learned and been able to play Hendrix better after watching this video once than dozens of people slowly trying to teach me how to emulate his style. So easy to see it clearly at normal speed and then play it. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Yes absolutely love this style of video because for advanced players this is very much a lesson, without needing to explicitly be a lesson for less advanced players. For us who can pick up most songs by ear, it's still super helpful to see visuals of fingerings and such, gives a lot of great ideas.
...you are one very insightful person- Not many people have the ability to come across so calm and comprehensive and keep a student's attention and enthusiasm from start to finish. You are a passionate performer & your videography is stellar as well-
such a clear picture on youtube...clear presentation, both with behind and before the hands, no wasting time talking, you let your guitar do the talking ! Beautiful playing. Thank you. !
Hey just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your channel. I don’t comment often, but after seeing the quality you put into the production of your videos, your no-nonsense way of speaking, i had to comment. But the real star of the show here(and the reason I subscribed) is your PLAYING. It is so inspiring to me to hear someone with knowledge, but the TALENT to back it up. Your right hand strumming is just absolutely killer. Just wanted to let you know your doing a great job, keep it up!
Thanks so much for that kind comment brother, that means a lot to me! I was having a shitty day but your comment reminded me why I started this channel, to help and inspire as many people as I can to play the guitar, thanks boogieplex!
Love the way you approach the teaching of the song especially the play along segment displaying the chords. Takes a bit to figure out which changes are happening on the 4th beat sometimes but all in all really, really solid instruction and techniques.
Brilliant. Thank you. I think you approach this exactly the right way round: chords first then embellishments. Everyone who plays guitar learns that after a while, certain ways of embellishing chords become so second nature that you then have to learn how to vary them! You bring out with beautiful clarity that Hendrix is working out a chord sequence then adding the embellishments which came naturally to him. This also came about I think because he was concentrating so hard on expressing the feeling that drove a song. It’s a joy to watch you play and see you responding to this feeling.
This is the best lesson in the genre that I've watched in many years. You came up in my dailies by accident and for once I'm glad I clicked on it. Well done.
Hey brother,..just wanted to say I have been chasing Jimi for 47 years. I knew from jump street that he was light years ahead of everyone. My experience with him was always listening to him thru the headphones. Even with the best of speakers you can't hear everything he's doing because of his multi track recording. I never saw any footage of him till years later. So the music and his message of love was the thing to me,..but mostly that unbelievable quality that drips from his playing. Keep up the good work brother for not many appreciate his genius and his complete changing of how one looks at playing guitar. Jimi was a musical prophet in my book and no comes close to his feeling and his fluidity. Some have tried,...all fall short! And remember people,...after the artist,..only the copyist!
I love your approach to the guitar ... I have subscribed , rang the bell and look forward to your classes! I think you are a one of a kind, like Jimi! and your skill set is outstanding!!
Wait Until Tomorrow. Axis and Little Wing! Awesome. These songs shows what a genius Jimi was. Remember he played all these chords and fills/licks while singing too. Jimi's rhythm guitar is what distinguishes him from the pack. Great job GP!
Your guitar skills are impressive all around but of all the guitarists/guitar pages I follow on RU-vid, you're by far the best rhythm player. I enjoy watching you play guitar. It's obvious how much joy it brings you...
Thanks for this. I've been fascinated by Jimi's rhythm playing for decades and I feel it's very underrated. Love the way you play these songs and I'll be trying them out for sure.
New subscriber... Thanks for giving us just enough to encourage us to learn without being too basic or too complex. This is perfect for intermediate level students, I Love it. Thank you!
Have always known you were a good guitar player Thom, but in this video you have really showcased just how talented you are and, in particular, how wonderfully connected you are with Jimi's music. Very enjoyable to listen to - thank you.
Message of Love has so many tasty fills in it... I remember when I first heard it, that little break in the song about halfway through gave me goosebumps. Jimi's style is effortless and timeless.
Most people miss Jimi’s awesome rhythm guitar skills. Your top 7 list hit most of my favorite Hendrix tracks. The whole “Axis Bold As Love” album has that wonderful marriage of rhythm and lead guitar simultaneously. The only bad part of your video is watching you play and realizing I’ll never even get close.
I only found this video today, but that was after I watched four others you created. I'm pretty hooked and a little spooked by how talented and introspective you are in your playing - a bottomless glass of the way I wish I could play. This particular video, besides being Jimi, is particularly appealing to me because I generally play rhythm guitar, with bits of solo thrown in. But really, I wish you lived down the street because I'd be hiring you to improve my playing. Thank you for your efforts.
SO glad I found your channel. I am 68 years young and have been trying to play Jimi for 50 years. I still cannot. And then SRV, your videos show me so much. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you brother, I'm still working at it myself, it's so much fun to play jimi hendrix although one can never match the man himself, he was one of a kind!!
