I mean I have a 96 Accord and I get anywhere between 32 and 35 MPG highway and it has a 17 gallon tank. so the total range of the echo and my car is still the same I'm just wondering why the limit is around 500 miles on a tank for most economical cars. I've got my Accord to 541 miles till it stuttered and died. Might as well take the spare tire out and make an extra fuel cell to pump extra gas into the tank when the fuel gets low.
@AutoMotivate
@AutoMotivate 5 лет назад
Yeah, that’s an interesting take. Not a bad idea 🤔 however, 440 mile per tank isn’t bad at all. My 2012 Dodge Avenger gets a lousy 330 miles, about
@ja.935g67
@ja.935g67 5 лет назад
I know it's not bad it's about getting it better I'm just not a fan of driving down the highway and opening gas guru or GasBuddy to find the closest cheapest gas. I make 900+ mile drives a couple of times in this car per year and I only have to fill up once in the middle haha. I just wish cars in the 90s had more than four or 5 gears

@michaelhuebner6843
@michaelhuebner6843 5 лет назад
Moding a vehicle will lower it's value. It's fine if you are the end user, but don't expect that someone will want to buy your mods and pay you more than the vehicle would be worth if it was OEM parts. There is a reason why the tuner scene from the 90s died out. People put thousands of Dollars into these vehicles and never got any of that money back and found it near impossible to find a buyer for their vehicle. Other tuners want to tune the car themselves and normal people want the vehicle with factory OEM parts.
@AutoMotivate
@AutoMotivate 5 лет назад
For sure, that should be a given. I recommend if you are modifying a car, keep all the stock components just Incase.

If you do a video for cars under 5 grand, I bought a 2014 Hyundai Accent 138 horse power, 1.6 liter (bank repo) for 4 grand with 63000 miles on it as a commuter car and I average 43 to 46 miles per gallon. I now have 110,000 mile on it and still runs strong with oil changes every 5 to 7 thousand miles. I love this car. You can check out youtube to find out how to change the batteries and were to get replacement batteries on the cheap for the Honda Insite. I had to look to see when this was produced. I live in the same general area and the cars mentioned aren't exactly thick on the ground so even finding several of them will be a trick. AND, a couple of the cars are being sold by curbstoners (dealers pretending to be private parties), so any price reduction of these examples may not get them to $2K. And my last advice to anyone reading this, try to avoid the automatic transmissioned cars as they are slow and not as fuel efficient as the manual versions of these cars.
@AutoMotivate
@AutoMotivate 5 лет назад
Howard Kerr so, right off the back, I found 3 metros. But, some may be a tad tricky, still very possible. Also, you are 100% correct about the manuals. The older automatics were not as advanced as today’s and they did sacrifice fuel economy.

This list is extremely outdated. About every 90s car I see today is rusted out and on its last gasp. It would be very rare to find any of these cars that are not missing sections of body panels to rust, less than 200k on the odometer or not pissing or burning oil that requires you rebuild the entire engine to stop up leaks. Needs a list of mid 2000s - mid 2010s. Granted they may not make it below $2000.
@AutoMotivate
@AutoMotivate 4 года назад
If you can still find cars from the 70s in okay condition, you can find these in decent condition. Just my 2 sense. I added ads for a reason. You can not expect much from a $2,000 car, anyways.

Be warned to anyone buying an old hybrid. The battery pack for a hybrid vehicle can easily cost you $2,000 to $4,000 plus you need special gloves to work on the vehicle and special knowledge. Hybrids are not mechanic friendly vehicles at all and you will pay a lot of money to find a mechanic that knows how to fix them. The hybrid better drive and run perfectly and even then I wouldn't pay more than $1,000 for a 18 year old hybrid vehicle due to the extremely high repair bills you will face to fix it. Basically if an old hybrid breaks down it's time to call the local junk yard to pick it up.
@AutoMotivate
@AutoMotivate 5 лет назад
You could easily go aftermarket batteries and find a local mechanic to replace them properly. Buy a 150k mile Prius. Should last you at least another 50k if not more with stock batteries. (Yes I’ve seen them last that long) and when it’s time to replace them, go aftermarket.

So, the reason these cars are in the 2000s is because the price bracket I put them in,

Just the wear and tear on the engine.
@AutoMotivate
@AutoMotivate 5 лет назад
As the cars engine gets older, grime builds up, and pulleys get a bit harder to turn. All that friction plays a roll in gas mileage. However, it’s not terribly significant.

I saw a 2005 Mustang 4.0L with 327,000 on youtube. I bought my 2005 Mustang 4.0L new and it now has 174,000 miles. 2005 was an amazing year for automotive reliability!
