Taking a look into the history of the 24 hours of Nurburgring. This classic endurance race is up next on the calendar for 2024, and it's time to take a look at all 8 manufacturers who have won here in the past. But which manufacturer was the most successful? Some things about the Opel win too: -It broke the streak of 1-2 wins of the Zakspeed Viper. -The Viper was also in the race and was much faster, but it received penalties for technical infringements. However, the Astra was the only car that could "follow" the Viper, not even the Manthey Porsches. -That win started the german manufacturer win streak that Ferrari broke last year. -And no one believed in them to win, it's their biggest achievement together with the DTM/ITC championship in 1996, but no one talks about the Nürburgring one.

June is the 24h Month and begins next week with the 24h of Nürburgring, then 2 weeks later the next Historic and great 24h Le Mans starts, then at the end of june we had the 24h of Spa this month would be great :)

Audi is the most successful in the GT3 era with the most wins. 6 wins from 15 starts, what a achievement! it's just sad that the R8 won't get its successor :(

This year it will be the last time for an R8 going for an overall win. For Scherer-Phx its possible with the driver lineup.

The fact that the opel was designed for sprit races, makes there victory even more special. Because the Astra was a DTM car with a few modifications.

"Tragedy of Le mans" mentioned in case of Mercedes and cause of their absence in motorsport wasn't connected with CLK GTR flip. It was about accident in 1955, car crashed into spectators, 83 people lost their lifes and 120 were injured. It was the biggest tragedy in motorsport and Mercedes decided to not participate in motorsport anymore. They cameback in 1985 as engine supplier for Sauber C8 and in 1987 with C9 as factory team. Few years later they also started to supply enginges for F1. CLK GTR flip resulted Mercedes to stop building prototypes, but they still participate in others GT and touring series. So it had nothing to do with 24 Hours of Nürburgring. I know you said "tragedies" in video but I feel like using 1955 picture will be more accurate. Still good video mate!

You’re correct, using a 1955 photo would be more accurate. Although at the time, finding a 1955 photo that met the parameters of the video format was hard to find, and not possible when recording. So I decided to do a 1999 photo since what I was talking about also included the flips at Le Mans in 1999, but mainly was talking about the 1955 incident. After, I was able to find a 1955 photo that fit, so for the future I’ll use that. Thanks for watching, and glad you liked the video!

Yeah it’s quite interesting that BMW has taken so many wins at the Nurburgring 24! They are quite successful!

Because from 1970 to 1997 it was a race without big cars, mostly for privatiers. And a lot of privatiers won. Of course BMWs with their E30s, E36s.... The street cars had a strong base. RWD, leight, strong engines, affordable. In Germany BMW had never the "luxury" brand status as in the US. It starts with 1998, when BMW used the Diesel engine. That was a factory car. And in 1999 Zakspeed came with their Viper. The engine was so big, only the the 3, 4, and 5 gear were needed. The torque was perfect for multiclass racing. Then, Manthey came in 2000 with big Porsches, too. And so from year to year, more bigger cars arrived. In 2003, 2004 we had DTM cars, the Viper, M3 GTR(GT2) cars, the big Porsches from Manthey and Land, the Alzen Porsche, their legendary 996 Turbo". In 2009 the GT3s started. And changed the event forever. BMW and Mercedes were the leest succesful GT3s. Audi won the most GT3 races since then.

I think this year Porsche will win, Porsche is strong in every championsip they are participating and in every GT3 regulation they are in they are showing strong pace so i think they will be the car to beat this year
