Spearmaster is genetically modified to not need sleep. Saint needs sleep but does not care for their mortal necessities and suppresses the pain to put on a semblance of control that they believe is the only thing that keeps them from the ultimate fate of the eternal cycle. They are not the same.

imo Spearmaster is a purposed organism with no need to sleep, like they don't even have a mouth, they feed on the energy of other creatures. for them hibernation is just sitting in a tiny shelter, being bored out of their ass. Saint is at least resting through meditation, Spearmaster is banging their head against the wall.
