Ever since my phone died and had to depend on the kindness of strangers to guide me to my hotel to charge my phone, I will never, ever, travel without a powerbank again 🤣 It's a huge comfort having it on my person.
Can confirm that, my checked luggage didn't get lost but once the plane arrived too late to catch my late-evening connecting flight, thankfully the airline provided us with a hotel, but the checked luggage stayed at the airport till the next morning! I packed a change of clothes and basic hygiene items in my carry-on and it was a life saver! Some people didn't get to change underwear or even brush their teeth since they had nothing on them so I really thanked my past self for preparing just in case!
I’m so glad to hear you talk about printing off essential documents. It’s so much easier as you said to hand whoever a sheet of paper and if they need to keep it so be it. Good job If your on a cruise it’s the best tip to have a print out of what you have paid for .
Another little handy tip (if things go well) is to take a screenshot of your boarding pass or anything that has your travel details from your travel-apps. It's just handy to do just in case you didn't print it out and for when you're just passing through security.
It’s true! Get you some noise-cancelling headphones. Really! It’s a night and day difference flying or really for any noisy environment. Crying baby? Headphones. Seatmate won’t shut up. Headphones. Couldn’t pass on the dirt cheap seats right next to the engines? Headphones. Invest now. I can’t believe I waited so long. I got some Bose QuietComfort IIs and love them.
Thank you for this great video. I travel a lot alone. I took something from it that I never thought of. I'm always digging through my purse or carry-on for this or that. My next trip I'm definitely taking a little bag to put only airport neccesities inside. I can even stash it in my dog's carrier if I take her. She's about the size of a mini bag too.
You can buy an adapter that you can use on your cables on public USB ports, such as in airports or on planes. It deleted the data pin, so all that will happen is your phone charges. No chance of days getting lost by a hacked public USB port. Very cheap.
We definitely do printouts of items we may need and not sure if we will have reliable cell service. A lot of your item list is much like what we'd suggest. Especially having toiletries in the carry on or personal bag.
To keep liquids small for hand luggage only, carry bar soap instead of shower gel (it's not a liquid), keep travel size bottles to decant into (they're so expensive but reuse the bottles), and put creams/medicines into tiny bottles so you're carry just enough for the trip. I also use a travel bag which fits exactly the max hand luggage requirements so I don't lose any space!
Thank you for this video! Loved it! Very informative. Could you do a video on what things you pack in your checked luggage for a hot destination? I'm off to the Carribean very soon! Xx😊
A good list. Totally agree on paper copies of everything. I always write my credit card info down coded so I at least have it if I need to call it in as lost or stolen. Sunglasses are always my problem. Leave them in the car too often, especially late flights. Hate wasting time having to buy sunglasses. Also earphones. Always love having to pay two times the price in an airport.
Wow!! I started watching to gather more tips on efficient packing! I’m very impressed to note that each n every item is a part of my carry on too!🤩 I include some chocolates or snacks too!
Thanks. Love this list. Would have been super helpful if you had links to your faves like the nice bag in your thumbnail. 👜 ❤️ Can you do a baby travel list?
My glasses 👓 have transitions lenses. I’m Mr. Magoo without them. lol 😂. Some of this stuff I definitely agree with. Especially scripts since I’m on meds for bipolar and high cholesterol. And I’m painfully aware that my meds aren’t legal everywhere (not pot). My personal item would likely be a backpack when my electronics, meds, toiletries, and a change of clothes would be. I’ll likely also have a carryon suitcase or duffel bag. Though I prefer a two wheel suitcase. I have a TravelPro maxlite 4. It’s light blue. I’m including my Beats headphones as electronics.
I’ve found for things like concert tickets and stuff, I like to take a screenshot of it so I don’t have to worry about connecting to the wifi. But paper copies are still a good idea too!
Yes! Highly recommend these tips. My husband and I recently traveled to London/Ireland from the US and lost both of our checked bags. We were lucky that the airline was able to find them but we did not receive our luggage until our very last day upon returning back home. We were also fortunate that the hotels that we stayed in gave us toothbrush/toothpaste/shaving kits, etc. but we had to buy a whole new wardrobe for our 9 day trip! Amazon is a bit different overseas so don't expect same day delivery or even finding the same brands you typically get in the US. Now, we always stuff our carry-on bags with all essentials and anything that we don't mind to part with, will go in our checked luggage.
I keep a wide necked water bottle and ask for ice to chill the water I filled from airport. The best drink in the world. I also pack 2 tablets on anti diarrhoea and tummy ache pills just in case.
I love bringing the neck pillow and using it on my lap to have a comfy rest for my arms so I don’t take up much for the arm rests! Super helpful for middle seat or if you are tall w/ long arms!!
When I being my vitamins and supplements, if I have the extra space in my bag on the way to my destination, I like to bring the bottles with me with the exact number of pills I need (I save one bottle of each I use for this purpose). Then, since I finish the bottle while I’m at my destination, I pop the now empty bottle into a recycling bin (if available), and then I have a small empty space and my bag is a little lighter for my return trip. Note- I only do this for short and domestic trips, and never with my prescription medication.
Two reasons: if your bag is lost, someone , whoever eventually gets that bag can and will go through it, now they know stuff about you. Personal stuff. This is just a preference thing, but I don’t want some random person to know that. Second: scammers and thieves look at person info on bags as an indicator that you are away from your house and can break in when you are away. This is why you shouldn’t put your address on your luggage tag, email or phone is better. And yes this does happen, more frequently than you’d think because baggage most of the time, is in an uncontrolled area of the airport that anyone could walk up to.
I’m doing a livestream tomorrow at 2:00pm PST(5:00pm EST) where I am reviewing this bag plus 5 other carry-on ones! Click ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0fxpSdlIbIg.html
The exact one Nadine has doesn't seem to be available anymore. We just got it from Amazon by searching for a passport holder that had lots of pockets inside and would fit nicely in our backpack. I have the same one, but in grey.
One thing I have noticed in watching hundreds of RU-vid videos is that the speaker will ALWAYS SPEAK WITH THEIR HANDS. That is so annoying. A few hand gestures, yes, is acceptable. But when you’re constantly waving your hands in the air, when your finger pointing all over the place, it distracts from your message. I think RU-vidrs take a course on how to speak on RU-vid and someone has told them that they must have violent hand gestures to be credible. Eehh (buzzer sound), wrong. Just speak plainly and calmly. Your message will carry further than arm waving, finger pointing, or violent body movements. Or you can add checklists if you need to fill that empty video space.
