Great analysis. I am glad to hear you mention the "Do nothing" option, or rather "Stay with what you got". In other words, continue to get more value out of the ERP investment you have. This is usually not looked at equally as an option. We are running one of the ERP's in the top 5 list and will likely continue to squeeze more value out of it in the coming years. Great video!

At 16:55, you said that Oracle ERP Cloud had not figured out how to address manufacturing. Could you please expand on that point?

Thank you for your feedback, Stephane. We have had some large manufacturing clients try to implement Oracle Cloud, which has exposed gaps in capabilities - especially when compared to legacy EBS. It isn’t yet as robust in its manufacturing workflows.

Hi Burhan, yes Odoo was considered. It's a great emerging product, so it was hard to rule this and a bunch of other systems out of the Top 10 - even though you could make a strong argument for it being closer to the top of the list!

@@erickimberling Odoo should be #1. It will be the talk of the town in the near future. It's doing the one thing the bigger ERP's are not and that's making an affordable scalable option. I think that's why Shopify has done well. Rather than be like Magento and price everyone out of the market, they made a solution that was for all. I'm all-in on Odoo and loving it!

However, from my 20 years experience with most of the international erp players, today i can see new good players they do ERP in different way such as Triosuite company. It would be interesting to see the top twenty I am considering Enterprise Odoo, which does not have nearly the penetration of these, but lists a set of appealing features (e.g. Python is the programming language to customize) has good pricing, and a huge set of modules which can be obtained ala carte. There is likely not a super wide, THIRD PARTY set of VAR, but a networked in set of staffers who run through San Francisco to get people up to speed (typically you buy hours of these folks time, and they get your implemented. Most of these systems simply are too high priced to get our small company out of Quick Books hell and into a functional system.

Hi Eric, Nice work with the video. Its really hard to find independent opinions in ERPs as the vendors are always involved. Only thing I would add in cosideration about Netsuit is that Oracle's big bet for the future seems to be Oracle Cloud so this look bad for Netsuit in the middle/long term. What's your opinion on this? Also, if I'm an analyst of an old Oracle suit (JD Edwards), where do you think I should aim my career? I'm thinking on learning and getting expirience in one of the new ERPs with more future but I don't want to bet in the wrong horse. Do you have any video of what's best from an analst perspective?

Hi Manuel, I see your point about Oracle and Netsuite. However, I really don’t think Netsuite customers are at risk, simply because the install base is so big and because they target such different companies then oracle cloud. I don’t have any videos specific to analysts as you suggest, but the top 10 videos are a good place to start. I think it’s always a good idea to broaden your knowledge of different systems, especially given the uncertainty of JDE’s future.

Let's keep it simple. Choose a ERP system that work for the size, complexity and needs of the business. A system that evolve to this new market and helps to reduce manual data entry. It's very important to have a good support. SAP and Accumatica are the two tops on my list. Affordable, customizable, easy to use and learn. We are in times that we work with less staff, having the right leading ERP would make a huge difference at the end

@@harveylynn6530 Evening Harvey, True Cloud Software is simply software which is Hosted/Published from an offsite computer, just like a web site. If you have a Windows10 Pro computer, this can also be used as a web server thus hosting your software in house. So as long as the Software is truly cloud based, yes you can host it from an onsite PC.

Hi Eric. But ServiceNow is an ERP? I think it is just a Ticketing tool like JIRA. Does it have modules like Service Order/Quotation/Warehousing etc?

ERP is a gray area - HCM, CRM, financials systems, and other functional systems are slowly expanding their functionality to be more like ERP systems. ServiceNow is not as broad as a "real" ERP system, but it can act as a core system for service and ticketing based companies.

It’s a minor factor, but could signal a sign of instability or uncertainty at the software company. It’s one minor consideration in the grand scheme of things.

I liked the video but I disagree with your picks at 1. & 2. Personally I would still put Dynamics ahead of Netsuite. The O365 intergration is incredible. Its still the case that the majority of businesses are still using some or all of the Office Programs. The most common probably being excel and outlook. Very interesting video and well thought out from a product perspective.

Service Now should be ranked much higher than #10. SN has been adopted for use by two extremely large organizations in the CA for a few years now: University of California (the largest employer in CA) and Behr, and the new features we are seeing with every iteration is well thought out and on point. In my humble opinion, Infor should be 10 while SN is #7, as we are seeing movement away from Infor, particularly LN, as their goals are not clear.

Can you publish the scoring details for the solutions? Your commentary seems to be inconsistent with the placement decisions that I am sure would be easier to understand if the scoring were available. @@erickimberling Not sure I understand, is that a "no?" you won't provide the underlying scoring? How can anyone assess the claims? There are several inconsistencies in your commentary about why various vendors got different rankings. Without the data it is impossible to reconcile the claims. My assumption is you would provide the underlying support and the inconsistent commentary is just opinion.

This video iwas released in 2019...but is for 2021? Also Netsuite is terrible have seen more midsize companies (20-100M) move away from it than keep it.

What about small margin economy Russia isn't so big in terms of finance, economy in Russia stagnating , most business done by the Russian government or his representatives, good luck getting those contracts if any you are friend of russian goverment well , maybe you can hit Abramovich or Raldugin, but i dont think that they interested in buying a ERP.....

All businesses are not same and all business requirements are not same. Having said that, comparing SAP with other ERPs in the list is like comparing Apples to Oranges.

I applaud the effort to simplify this into top 10, but really it's impossible. There's too many variables. We focus on smaller business, where we would declare ourselves #1, but not for mid-sized business. Then there's value, trade offs, it's enough to make you dizzy (salesforce is not big on ERP, but ok).

You’re right that there are a ton of variables to consider! I’ve compiled a few other top 10 lists since then, one specific to small business, another for manufacturers, etc.
