In all fairness, he does seem to be suffering from memory loss as a result of his car crashes, so you can't blame him for forgetting the name of that show.
“And on that terrible dissapointment... for Top Gear...” I feel like that was not supposed to be a part of the actual episode haha, and they were just saying it as an inside joke but then the editors put it in anyway. They usually never mention Top Gear directly haha
That was after a mate of Jeremy's got a high ranking job at the bbc, I think that's also how they got the permission to use all the clips they got to use for the last tent episode.
@@myrixica4222 Jeremy Clarkson is still very much welcome to the BBC, he wasn't fried they just didn't renewed his contract (and even if he didn't punch that guy they wouldn't have renewed it).. after his contract with TopGear wasn't renewed they did offer him jobs to host documentaries and they asked him to do interviews etc BUT the BBC never wants him to have an opinion... the thing with Clarkson is that he does bring to light some very very real problems that politicians love to ignore and pretend don't exist (like what hes doing with Clarkson Farm on Amazon) and he also did it with the Grand Tour and many many times on Top Gear but he did it low key and when the BBC did notice it they did try to censor him
Yeah. Dude's nearly died twice and has had many other small accidents too, I'm sure he isn't that fazed by death at this point. I personally have no damn idea how he's still kicking
@@JetFalcon710 he gets to drive around cars and hang out with presumably his friends, dudes living his best life and gets paid for it, probably why he’s still kicking
Usually when stars go DIVA; they often are quickly humbled… but Top Gear was absolutely dreaming if they thought they were anything without these three…
@@mirasolovklose3888 honestly i'm not a fan of cars and i don't know anything about them but watching these three goofballs doing whatever could and still can make my day
@@graham1034 they could have sanctioned him, made him pay the guy the right amount of money and make him admit what he did and apologise for it publicly, and that would be it... going this far as sacking him, they lost viewers, and money and probably because of that had to reduce salary, maybe fire some workers and so on... so instead of doing justice for one person, they ended hurting more people!
You missed Jeremy's 'self driving car' when he's getting into the seat. He says "they're very easy to get in and out of, you know" which is a reference to when they built the old-person car on Top Gear.
Indeed. It's unfortunate that that day is likely coming sooner rather than later, given May and Clarkson are getting on a bit now. Hell, Clarkson's in his 60s at this point and May isn't that far behind, I don't think their bodies will withstand doing it much longer given some of the roads and things they've had to deal with.
@@233Deadman Yeah I think they'll call it quits at the end of 2023 or maybe 2024 if we're fortunate. So probably around 6 more specials left. Jeremy isn't too old, he's 61, but he doesn't look so good and seems to be slurring his words more than he used to. He does like his drink. May has also aged noticeably but he doesn't look too unhealthy at the moment, but I can't imagine him wanting to carry on too much longer either. Hammond still got miles but the trio needs to be complete for the very best TV
That was so cool that they reminisced and asked the audience for their memories that was a really cool moment Id probably pick them dropping a full fucking skyscraper on a car, descovered it to be fully functional and then using it as a trophy
@@mattygee6852 did you never see the TG episode where they created their own car, started as a fiat multipla butt was re-designed for old people, and they called it a Rover James
Most of the references (for those that don’t know) 0:00 The Allman Brothers Band’s song Jessica was the theme for the show. 0:20 Patagonia Special 0:28 Botswana Special 0:40 Series 10 Episode 9 1:11 Series 12 Episode 7 1:43 “Ambitious, but rubbish.” 2:06 During Series 3, Jeremy Clarkson begged for Ford to get him a GT. It arrived in series 6 episode 3, but in the following episode, he had trouble with the car due to it’s aftermarket alarm systems. 2:34 “Lorries” referencing Burma Special and “horses” referencing James May falling off a horse in the Patagonia Special 3:00 Richard Hammond crashed the dragster while filming for series 9. 3:32 Top Gear: The Perfect Road Trip 1 4:04 Mentioning many things that happened on Top Gear (cow on the car, indestructible car, James May falling off a horse, etc) 5:37 Do I need to explain?
2:49 "lorries" that's the Burma special. They drove to Taiwan to build a bridge on a river. Also Jeremy said "horses" and Hammond sarcastically said "oh that went well" that is a reference to that same Burma episode. They all ran out of diesel and Jeremy brought some horses and Hammond fell off and sprained his arm 😊
One in the carnage a trois, Jeremy drove the Citroen tri safari, which was the same car he used in the camper van challenge. He then said “you don’t see many of these becuase they have all turned into campervans”
The lives these 3 guys will have lived by the time of their death will be some of the greatest ever. I can't imagine doing even 1/4 of the amount of events all over the world, in different cars every week competing against their friends.
The life I covet the most is... James May. Think about it: he gets to do all the really cool stuff that nobody trusts Clarkson or Hammond to do (NASA, Bugatti, Flying, Army etc), but he also gets to do all the stuff they do as well.
The whole Argentina debacle makes me wanna get an old Porsche, get the H982 FKL thing as a custom plate (I'm in the States right now, so it'd be trivially easy), and drive it down to Ushuaia just to see if I can do it myself.
@@RobRandomVids Yes, unfortunately. And the UK government themselves gave the Argentines their blessing to do that despite the fact Clarkson and Wilman tried repeatedly to get the cars shipped back to the UK. I heard it had something to do with the fact that the toxic nationalists had the impound where they were locked up under watch and would burn down the cars as soon as they were in transit to the port, in addition to Clarkson and co's pending criminal charges from an Argentine court.
@@marcosneto9412 National Extremist and Veterans of the Falkland War, which the British won, thought that the number plate of Jeremy's car was reference to the Falkland War. It was seen as an insult. They went down there in mass and assaulted the crew. It was so bad the crew abandoned the show cars in the middle of nowhere and fled in their 4x4s off road over a river into Chile. That was after being told that even more people waited for them in the next town and that they were out for blood. Some of the crew got injured and needed medical care. (The rioters had throw rocks at the cars). All in all very poor sportsmanship by the Argentinians.
I love how the very first one is *two" references in one: - "Jennifer": we all know the opening is "The Allman Brothers Band- Jessica", but Clarkson waged that, should the Porsche 918 Spyder was quicker than the McLaren P1 [the Ferrari TheFerrari wasn't available yet], he would have change his name to Jennifer. It is quite the coincidence that viewer chose that specific name... - "You never hear it anymore, do you?": well... There's no explaining this. It's subtly brilliant, that.
These three guys are just about the best thing on television. Seriously who else has the banter, chemistry, and friendship of them? They’ve brought me endless laughter and good times over the years.
That final scene in front of an audience.... After watching EVERY new Top Gear episode and getting Amazon Prime Video just for the Grand Tour, it hits me in the feels every time.
I'm convinced that all three of these guys are indestructible Jeremy gets Pneumonia and survives Richard keeps crashing and survives James gets bad food poisoning and survived 😊
Also that time James got knocked out in Syria was no joke. When it comes to ropes, pulleys, winches, cables, or anything like that under tension, I also stand well clear.
you missed a couple in Hammond's car reviews: - Lamborghini Huracan Performanté: him referencing his review of the base Huracan in Top Gear - NIO EP9: referencing his jet fuel dragster crash
Sometimes, there's that point in s tv show, when someone involved thinks is stronger than the show itself. Usually, they mess up thinking they can get away with it, but they end in failure. But there are rare occasions when they are right, when they give life to the show and no one in production can stop them. Top Gear is the best example of this phenomenon. These 3 guys are Top Gear, no matter how any other banner they fly. And actual Top Gear, it's now just a flavorless mush... Kind of like modern comedy.
True. The most intelligent step for a network normally is to say: "ok, the show has died with the demise of its presenters". But BBC had contracts to fulfill..
I watched a few with the first lineup, my God it was bad, then had the misfortune of seeing the current lineup and oh Lord cringingly terrible. Anything that mcguinness is in tho is absolute twoddle, all he does is shout and think he's funny.
God *Tesla* can't take criticism XD. Wonder what they would've done if TGT had critiqued the dodgy build quality and flammability. (Ferrari didn't do anything when their flammable wheel arches were made fun of)
@@jimtaylor294 that's one of the reasons I dislike tesla, they have the self inflated ego to charge the money they do for their cars, while the build quality is atrocious, and then try to hide it under the environmentally friendly, "future inspiring". Their not the only big player in the eco friendly game, and they need to realise that and improve if they want to survive
Nah it was actually rather dodgy business, try reading up about it. Apparently top gear had scripted (even b4 they received the cars to review) that at one point one of them would breakdown
Only at the part where one of the audience said "Don't stop!". I don't care if that was random or staged. Nobody wants this to stop. It tugs at the heartstrings.
No, why do grown adults cry for a tv show especially when it obviously hasn't ended, IE the trio still make essentially the same show, more or less. The specials are good!
You missed the one where Richard is testing the Lamborghini Huracan Performante. Something like "I tested the original Huracan on a car show, in a galaxy far far away. This is what it should've been." Season 2 episode 7.
One thing I will always remember about Vietnam is losing an Uncle I barely knew. My Uncle was a Marine and flew helicopters, he was shot at, shot up, and shot down. After his first tour of duty was completed he decided to stay over there a little while longer. One day he was riding his motorcycle and a truck pulled out in front of him; that was his last day.
the clip before the ending of the seamen special proved that they absolutely enjoyed and loved the hell out of their job and being together as a trio, they are the most amazing trio and best of friends ive ever seen and them being together is a sight to behold everytime, no matter how complicated it gets, they still manage to pull it off, they hold an ideal friendship to have, truly admiring they are.
These guys are some of the luckiest blokes alive. The cars, the travel, the money, their fun and experiences along the way is just amazing. I'd love to watch an hour long video of the three of them just sitting at a table and reminiscing about the time they've spent together over the decades.
you forgot about when Richard was reviewing the huracan performante and he said on a car show in a galaxy far far away he was talking about when he reviewed the normal huracan on season 22 of top gear
I had a Lexus ISF...and my dad's insurance company said I had to pay 2000 dollars to have a LoJack installed on it before they would insure it...their reason...because the wheels were some of the most commonly stolen...the wheels...
I grew up watching top gear, probably from a way way to early age and I absolutely love the grand tour now, i can’t imagine them not being apart of my life.
I just remembered while watching this video that I haven't yet watched Carnage a Trois. So thank you for that reminder, I'm gna go do that right now ❤️
Yep, I was waiting for that one. IIRC, they were all listening to the same radio station (probably the only one they could get where they were at) and Jessica came on - and they all had a laugh.
I still cant watch the last few minutes of the last episode since it aired. The pain in Jeremy's voice when he says its over is one of the most crushing things ive ever heard. Im enjoying all the specials, and while im sure theyll finally retire soon-ish, i hope its on a much happier note than that gut wrenching scene....
Another reference is on Season 2, Ep. 2, where the production gives to Clarkson an audiobook to listen while travelling, but it was James May reading a book on how to fix things. In Top Gear Season 16, Ep.7 the production gives to Clarkson a Cd to listen while travelling to not fall asleep but it was Hammond reading On The Edge
1:55 - That look into the camera. It was SO precise, not overdone, perfect timing, Clarkson may be a car expert, journalist, etc., but actually he has a bit of a good actor in him.
@@DittoGTI according to reports afew years after the calamity the government had the cars crushed, after numerous attempts for them to be stolen. Doubtful, we'll ever know the real truth thou
I have watched a few episodes of TG mkii and the ones they did in Australia, total shit not a patch on the original, will watch these three for as long as they are able to turn out shows, good luck gentlemen.
