I get messages from women I have never met a day in my life or women whom I haven't seen in YEARS saying, "hey gorgeous! Right like. I have health insurance. I'm paying into a retirement fund. I have a garenteed income. I have a garenteed amount of PAID vacation days. I get a Christmas bonus without having to scam a bunch of people into selling shit shampoo.

Exactly. With have a family that includes 2 small boys I would rather work a 9-5 so that my kids and myself can have health insurance, life insurance on them as well as me, paid time off, holidays off, retirement so that one day I can retire. Most MLM consultants have none of that. God forbid they get deathly sick or their child gets deathly sick and they don’t have insurance. Or their child passes away and they don’t have the money for a funeral. The women that are older with grown kids and do it and have no life insurance if they pass away unexpectedly their poor kids will have to try to find a way to pay for a funeral. It’s crazy to me that they don’t find these things important.

I second all of what has been said plus having separate work and home lives is important for me. I'd suffer mentally if they were always intertwined.

Word of mouth builds trust. There’s absolutely nothing in it for the person who is sharing the product or service that they love. They love it and are excited to tell others about it. Network marketing is different because there’s commission or some sort of benefit for the person sharing the product or service. Once $$ is involved as a reason to share, trust is reduced or broken, and the transaction becomes more sales in nature. Very simplified and not scientific at all, but hope this helps to understand the difference!

@Squidward Tentacles I just wanted to piggyback on what he was saying. Word of mouth advertising is extremely powerful because as he mentioned, there is no financial incentive for you to recommend the product. You are doing it because you had a good experience and would recommend it to your friends. That is EARNED though. Companies need to genuinely produce a good product over time and have a lot of satisfied customers to benefit from it. The best part is it costs the companies zero. It is an established and proven marketing principle. Word of mouth advertising doesn't just happen overnight, it takes time. MLM yahoos of course, take this and try to compare it to what they do, which is selling. Selling and marketing are two different things. They are not the same thing. A person constantly flooding your inbox with messages trying to get you to buy their crappy product and join their team is not marketing in any form. They are strongly motivated to harass you to buy their crap. Their lack of business and marketing knowledge shows when they call it word of mouth advertising.

I agree that was a big thing for me when I signed up with MONAT I didn’t want to push people to try something that was overly priced in my opinion I’m also a hairstylist and didn’t even think it was anything revolutionary until I started to get into professional products which I will always get at a lower price so why would I waste my money and time when I can make commission every once in awhile what the salon I work for? I only recommend products geared towards the client and I really don’t push it on them to buy it because it isn’t my style and I give it my best try to help them because that is my passion there but I’m not just selling them something I don’t believe works It was just something with MONAT I didn’t even agree with starting off as it was

I sooo relate with this! Thank you! I have not been formally diagnosed with ADD. But I have always had difficulty focusing and trouble with time management, in spite of being bright academically. My mom has the same issues, and I really think my mom has ADD, but no one ever diagnosed it. Thus I take after her. Either way, ADD or not, my job at a credit union works really well because it gives me focus and structure, as well as goals.

Then spoke to another friend (friend B) about it, only to find out she'd been targeted by friend A to buy stuff because she's into skincare, however this friend (B) works as a chemist in a leading cosmetics company and says the stuff Younique sells has so many random chemical compounds in that do absolutely nothing other than make it look like because it's got a long ingredient list, it's worthwhile. After she simplified it all for me, in this way, friend B said that it's so shit that it's not even worth £5. But yes, we're all just jealous of being unwilling to peddle overpriced cosmetics to our friends and family. :')

@Christie Jensen Even if you feel intimidated, don't show it! I have always felt a bit intimidated in interviews, but have always gotten the feedback that I come across as confident. Play up your strengths in the interviews you get. And be honest, you are just coming out of college and don't have work experience. But anyone will know that if they look at your resume. Do you have a resume? That's the first step. Play up the fact that you are eager to learn and are willing to work your way up. And used LinkedIn as your number one social media place for looking for jobs and being professional. And be careful what you put on other social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram. My HR department looks at potential employees Facebook pages to see their character. It's the world we live in now. And another huge tip is apply for any job you think you may want even if you don't meet 100% of the criteria. I got the job I have now and I didn't meet every single thing they wanted in the job description, but I played up my strength and said I would learn the other stuff. Don't let anything hold you back. I just read an article that said 90 percent of men apply to all jobs even if they don't come close to the criteria buy only 40 % of women apply to jobs that they don't meet 100% of the criteria. I say go for anything, reach for the stars. The worst that can happen is you don't get the job but you get the interview experience for your next interview. Hopefully some of that helps???

Same, teaching can and often does extend outside of contract hours, but I love not having to take time off for holidays, because it is in our schedule already. I balance myself with our vacation schedule, it is worth it to me.

That’s what they all teach. Everyone is a potential sale/ team member and everywhere you go is an opportunity to make new connections for your “business.” Plus, they say if you don’t ask someone else will so it pushes you to want to ask because if you don’t then your competition will ask and make the sale. It’s actually a simple sales tactic. If I am trying to sell you a product and as I am telling you about said product and talking about how it will fit your needs I am going to end most pointed sentences with “right?” Or “I’m sure you would agree?” Because it gets the potential customer in the habit of saying “yes!”. So when I finally get to the point where I tell you the cost and get your payment to close the sale, it should be a little easier to close the sale because you’re used to saying yes. And I’ve got you thinking that this is something you need and that it will help you. Basically you’re subconsciously training their brain to say yes. Or at least trying to.

Breanna Williamson It's partly the weird business of the fact that products they buy go towards their own sales figures, even though it is costing them money not making them it. I heard one of them on Instagram talking about how she buys all the products she uses from herself at a forty percent discount! (Huh? It's still costing you money love!). It's why very odd like buying a house in cash and then paying yourself rent and thinking how great it is to be making all that rental income!
