I put strong flat magnets behind each of my drawers so when I close it, it shuts hard. There's enough clearance between the back of the drawer and the back of the cart that the other side of the magnet doesn't actually contact it but its magnetic pull does.
Usually it was because his directions were vague and both him and his dad owned the business and often times his dad would tell me to do something one way and then he'd be pissed that I did it that way and want it redone the opposite way. And my name is Jared too which makes this even better.
Mr Everything always do it the way the guy who signs your paycheck wants it don’t. I’m literally pointing where I want my Jared to film and he’s not catching on.
I used the US General magnet strips but I mounted them with 3M command straps rated for 16lbs because I definitely didn't want to drill into the lid. I have 4 strips that hold my ratcheting wrenches so I could have 2 points of contact for the SAE and Metric sets
There’s a difference between talking and walking. Youre just talking. Why don’t you show us your mods! To BringIt thanks for the video. I am getting rid of my red HB cart but it was a great cart.
Bring It Muscle Cars I got a snap on tool cart. I out grew my HF cart. I made mods to the HB cart and really liked it but Needed way more room. I had flat magnetic panels on the lid and placed my wrenches on the lid. And another flat magnetic panel on the tray so bolts and tools wouldn’t roll off etc. But the extra room helps a lot more. 👍🏽
If you dont want to buy the shelf, my dad made his out of a flat cookie sheet. I didnt have one of those so I used a big 24x12 or so size baking pan painted black. Looks better than it sounds. And now I have a 2" deep lip around my side shelf to hold everything. Used some west coast mirror supports. Loaded it full of air tools and nothing will slide off it like the flat shelf.
I did the caster mod and moved the locking casters so they would be on the “front” when you’re facing the drawers. Works way better then leaving them on the side. Nice cart!
@@BringItMuscleCars thats what i was saying. 4 swivel casters but move one of the original locking ones diagonally. That way you have 4 swivel casters and the two locking ones on the front, drawers side of the cart
As for magnets all you need to do is get the cheap Harbor Freight ones put them back-to-back and bolt them together that way they become magnetic on both sides so you can hang it up and hang your tools on it they are cheap enough you can buy tons of them
A good mod is to take the “magnetic tool holder” Harbor Freight sells or sometimes give away for free, and drill the holes on the sides of the magnetic tool holder just a little larger. The holes line up perfectly with where the handle bolts to the cart
It's also perfect distance to attach with the stock bolts vertically along the front rails (bottom of the 2 top holes to the hole for the front drawer support bolts)
One of my first videos was 5 mods for this cart. I came up with a way to defeat the lock temporarily so that you can use the top as a work surface but still access the drawers. You can reverse it so that the cart and tools can be secured.
I added the 16" side cabinet to mine, enclosed the bottom shelf with aluminum diamonds plate and locking doors. Added a wood top and vise. modified the frame to center casters under side cabinet to keep cart balanced. modified the locks so drawers can open with top closed, but can still make cart lock if needed.
I just have started working on small engines. So the tool list grows. So the tool box that is best for me is a cart and the mods you have shown automatically make my brain go into I could use it for this and that. Like the extra screwdriver holder and power strip. For me I got to have the magnetic disposable glove holder. Thanks for the video that it was really helpful may God bless yall.
@@BringItMuscleCars I have the Husky 4 drawer that is used most of the time and is holding up great. My HF 5 drawer has held up great, but isn't used nearly as hard.
To fit the pry bars in the side Compartment you half to use a #12 Step Bit to bore the holes a little wider in order to make the pry bars fit and it has to be done from under the compartment in the same area you placed the strip in
The harbor freight mag stips could use double stick tape to mount it to the lid. Draw liners in the top of the lid so you don't scratch it up when closed and putting stuff on top of the cart
Edmister Enterprises LLC that makes sense. I use mine in my car trailer so I have to push it around. I think have two shelf’s or one shelf and side box would give you a lot of space.
Silicone gasket maker will let you put the magnet bar on without drilling . The individual magnets can be used on the drawers (2 per) so that you can remove the catches . I removed all 17 on my us general 72 .
It's the exact same box Blue Point sells for 3 times the money, so you are incorrect. Also, if it's a low duty application (like a trailer cart you might use 3 or 4 times a year) it's definitely not worth the money to buy a Snap On box lol.
I have been using those ring clips for about 25 years. They are "wrench rings" that I keep my wrenches together in my tool bag. I mast have about 20 of them, I make up stuff to use them for...
Where you have he Kobalt magnet holding wrenches, since you have a bunch of the Harbor Freight 18" bars you can bolt them back to back and it hold reallywwell. You can also bolt them on either side using the existing bolts that connect the uprights to the box. Dale Lucid has a video of 5 mods you can check out.😁😍😀Thanks for sharing your thoughts and videos, Rodney
Rodney Widger I’ve seen that. I definitely think his method works well. I almost mounted some of my pare HF magnets on the side like that. The tool holder I bought will mount to the same holes. It’s neat that they thought of that. Thanks for watching and commenting.
4:30 Can you show how you made the magnetic socket holders please?? 7:20 If you look on Snap On's web page, you can actually find that they sell a pack of 8 tool box guards for less than what HF sells 2 packs of 4 for. 10:50 If you have a roll of 3M VHB 2 sided tape (incredibly strong tape), you can use some of that to hold HF's magnetic holder onto ANY surface.
PaganWizard Thanks for the great comments. I’ll make a video of the magnetic socket holder. That’s good info on both the guards and the 3m tape. I didn’t even think about using that. I know some of that tape is really strong.
The corner guards seem to fit over the screws on the right side where the shelf is mounted. Did you put it on top of the round screw head, or did you trim it?
Take the harbor freight magnets, and put em back to back, use 2 short bolts and nuts to bolt em together and then they will stick to top no drilling, and sit a lil further out for more clearance… works nice!
The power strips are not so great. I had one for 3 days before both of the USB ports died. @10:30 you don't have to drill holes to mount those magnetic strips... they are magnets, they stick to the METAL lid...
I had mod my cart by purchasing the $3⁰⁰ self adhesive rubber mats to cover my side tray and the toolcart lid so I can use it as a work bench without marring it...
The downsides of four swivel castors is it's a lot harder to steer and also less stable because of the, well, I guess that's why they call them castors- but the castor, which means the contact point can move inward on multiple wheels and destabilize the cart. Just something to think about.
Wish id bought the green cart and 56" tool box instead of black. Really wanted white but box never came out. Notice how in person and videos the green is like snap-on green. In the add its a darker green and doesnt look that good. In person the green with black trim is awesome.
I have the 4 drawer cart. I roll it from my shed to my driveway through grass, so I upgraded the wheels to larger/rubber wheels. I added the HF magnet bars screwed through the lid to hold my wrenches. I also added the side tray & magnetic blocks to keep the tray from banging while going through the grass. I'm definitely interested in the magnetic socket holders. That's one of the main issues I still have with my cart going through grass. I also may look into expanding the wheel base because with the higher center of gravity due to the new wheels - it can get interesting when I hit a big bump in the yard lol. About to watch the video on the side cabinet which I would like to do - but not sure if my setup can handle that extra weight
eric smith. I have been looking at adding the larger rubber wheels from Harbor Freight. They sell some that have the same bolt pattern. If I do it I’ll add them to the side cabinet too. Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate the support.
@@BringItMuscleCars mine were a different bolt pattern. So I had to drill some new holes, but wasn't a big deal. 100% recommend. Wouldn't be able to take my cart through the yard without them. Even on concrete they would be smoother/quieter
I had some 3/4 Partical Board that I cut to fit the top of the lid. You could use epoxy to fasten it but I drilled thru both wood and the lid. T-nuts on the top side (recessed) and bolted from the inside. If concerned about rust, you could use silicone around the drilled holes in the top. The wood has a 45 degree bevel to reduce chipping. I used a whole can of urathane to seal the wood top. You could do the same on the side tray to make it more solid.
great ideas I have done the lock mod from dale lucid and I raised my box up one hole on the frame by drilling new bottom holes and leaving the top holes above the frame but bolted with the inside L bracket supports it helps taller people and I have more access in the bottom also the holes for screwdrivers on the side some are too large we use big washers to make it smaller and the harbor freight wire pliers rack is a great space saver another tech at my work enclosed the bottom and put a lock on it
every one that owns that cart likes it hell on Ebay you can buy pirated Snap On Vinyl stickers cheap as hell i buy them to screw with a buddy of mine that owns a hot rod shop and his brother is a A.S,E. mechanic there with him and all their Snap On debt for giggles i brag about my Stanley Sockets and wrenches from Walmart that were made in the same Chinese factory as their BluePoint stuff honestly i have small hands and i like the Stanley ratchets plus honestly i have had boats my whole life so i wind up having to buy 2 sets of everything one for home one for the boat and sometimes one for me to use for work so i cant afford multiple tool truck sets at those rediculous prices a few years ago my Dad asked me if i knew a Snao On guy and i did so i asked him what was he looking for he told me Snap On has a special socket for the Spark plugs on his Corvette could i pick one up and mail it to him the nect day i stopped by my freinds shop and i had already missed the truck so i told my Buddy what i needed he laughed walked over to his tool box grabbed it and threw it to me i told hi i want to pau for it and his response was yes you will ill get the price tommorrow when the truck comes by and i get a replacement he had no idea what he paid for it and he mails his receipts to the accountant so a few days later i stopped by again and my buddy said to come into the shop and he handed me a receipt that one socket was thirty something dollars the funny thing was my Dad is Cheap so i didnt have the nerve to tell him the real price so when he got it in the mail he kept bugging me on how much it cost so he could reimburse me i told him 25 dollars so he mailed me a check in a few days most of all he was tickled pink to be able to change the spark plugs on his Corvette
Some good tips in there. Is there a reason you installed the pneumatic cylinders for the lid "outboard" rather than inboard like the directions? It seems like they would hit the handles of anything you have hanging on those edge holes. I'll certainly check out some of the items you used in this video. Thanks!
Ryan Cooper I had some bigger things in the way. Now that I got some of the Doyle screw drivers they are hitting them. I’ll probably switch them around now that I’ve cleaned the box up some.
I ditched the handle on mine in favor of a second side tray, and put pegboard on the back side of the drawer cabinet. Need to do the wheel swap and get bumpers.
How do you secure this down in a trailer? And with that being said I would like to put this in a trailer without the casters and secure it to the floor. I don't need to move it around. Anybody have a suggestion and how to secure it to the floor and if it got wet on the bottom would that deteriorate it? Rust it out?
Hey Bring it.... Nice vid. Got a question for you. What is that flash-light? That thing looks dope... and I want to get one for my Cart as I am doing mods now. I am totally loving the cart, by the way. Anyway, where does the light come from? What am I looking for? Thanks!
@@BringItMuscleCars Thanks Bro! I'm going to go check the lights out. I want to attach one magnetically to the lid - so when it's up.... I can downlight onto cart and side-tray and have flex ability. Thanks!
I've kinda wanted that toolcart for awhile now..the price makes it hard to resist..instead tho..i bought a craftsman 40 inch bottom section..its heavier for just a toolcart..but has drawers all the way down...When im pulling something apart..i utilize the lower drawers for the items im removing if its a longterm repair..keeping the parts out of the environment or falling and never to be seen again lol..plus the top makes for a convenient work surface . I still want the toolcart..even tho it makes more sense to go the route i did lol
chris sterling if you have more tools I could see going with the tool box instead. I would suggest getting a small to shelf cart to keep items together on a longer term project. It has worked well for me. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@BringItMuscleCars i work as a diesel truck mechanic..i work out of matco and snap on tool boxes..both are roughly 66x25x54 .Parts on trucks are larger in general..so i require a larger toolcart at times than the average home owner or hobbyist. As a former atv and stock car racer..your cart would have been perfect for me years back..again i still want one lol..it's almost an obsession to keep buying tools i have multiples of already lol..i think i'll still be buying tools in my 70's lol
chris sterling I’ve seen of the tool boxes the diesel guys have. They are always big and filled to the brim. I’d definitely say you would need something heavier duty then the cart. Lots of good options out there. Right now there is a 20% coupon for icon boxes. Might want to look at their small box.
take 2 of the us general ones line em back to back chase a drill bit through and bolt em together. Bam now you have a very powerful dual side magnet. I did this for my socket holders as well
gizzy guzzi 1 second ago Can the drawer lock be disabled, so I can open the drawers with the lid closed? I know it won't lock, but I want to use to top as a work surface almost always.
I love the cart. I have the same one in the same color. I really wish they would come up with a small locker type box that attached to the side luke they make for the regular rollaway boxes
I did a video adding the side cabinet to the cart. I’m actually working on a update to this video for next week. Top mods for 2021. Thanks for watching.
@@BringItMuscleCars oh I gotta hunt that video down. I need a cabinet for consumables. Zip ties, electrical connectors, tape, tools I rarely use but want in my box. That kinda stuff
@@BringItMuscleCars I checked it out. It's really cool but the fact that it isn't flush with the cart would totally bother my OCD. I know that sounds stupid but I am insane when it comes to stuff like that. I wouldn't be able.to focus on my projects I would just be looking at that hahahaha. You should see me when someone leaves the volume on an odd number 🤣
@@IMKINDOFABIGDEAL13 you can make it flush with the front. I chose not to because I strap it to the wall in my trailer. Looks way cleaner when the fronts are flush.
phiberknight I have to buy HF tools so I can afford racing. Really only certain tools I have are HF. But they make good sockets, jack stands, tool boxes, and great jacks. A lot of their other hand tools are pretty good too. I’m not saying they are the best but to get the job done sure they work fine.
@@BringItMuscleCars Thank you for your reply, makes me feel better about buying the 225 Piece toolset from HF. I am not some hardcore mechanic, but if the tools hold up to what you are doing (racing) I am sure they will work out for me..
I knew racers that sink all their money into their car. Can't afford the big name tools. Hey, what ever works. HF has lifetime warranty, buy two and exchange during the work week.
Wanted to see what you did with the magnetic magnets two years socket rails you said you just let them out and put them in for your stocking holders wanted to see what you did there
J. Sanchez sorry you feel that way. It’s RU-vid. If you’re not having fun doing it you’re doing it wrong. That’s what we are about. Having fun and going fast. 🤷🏻♂️. Thanks for watching and commenting though.
