Great video. The Weaponised Helical came off the Leg Glenn. Videos like this not only helps new players, but anyone getting into doing builds. Really appreciate you taking the time (29:35) and that you managed to keep it under 30 mins :D
I wish more folks would make video articles like this. So many times it's really hard to find things about what the best consoles are and/or what consoles work well together to make your damage even better.
With the Lorca, if you add the Torp, may as well go full set with the Phaser too, as the final set bonus gives some extra torpedo potshots - and the Wide angle Dual Heavy beam bank is a decent combination of power and firing arc
I just wanted to say thank you so much for the video. Watching your videos have given me a greater understanding of the game. You always make information easy to understand and i love how you show the item and explain where to get them from.
I found your videos by chance and thankyou for awakening me from my stupidity. I have played for about 9-10 years by now and I thought I knew most of what goes on. Apparently I did not. So one day I sat down and remembered why I hated so many different enemies and why some ships were really good at taking and dishing out damage whilst some were really bad and they were T6 Ships aswell. So after watching your videos (near enough all of them) I decided to sit down and check all my ships on my main Character and lo and behold, they were a complete mess. most were hybrids of all the major weapon types, wrong armors, the stats didnt show up clearly or did not make any sense. The tooltips to all my pieces of gear made sense and I took a ship that I knew would die very quickly in normal content after I changed a lot around and it survived surprisingly. After that I looked at everything a lot closer and I will be trying to get some more of the pieces of tech from missions again on advanced difficulty to see if they survive. Also you made me try out Elite TFO's for the first time after trying Advanced TFO's a number of years back went horrendously wrong and put me off for the longest time. Got a lot of Iso-Mags and a few Hangar Consoles from them. So Thankyou very much for everything you do and keep on doing it. Bravo Good Sir!.
Another thing about the Quantum Phase Converter: You can pick it up early in a character's playthrough and upgrade it as you go without much trouble. The rest of the set is also good for that period of play, particularly the phaser weapon. The set is also very good for new players in general. If you are not in a fleet the Bellum consoles from the Discovery Reputation Store are quite useful, if you have an open slot using one of them gives a nice boost to crit chance and an improvement over the basic version of their console's normal boost if it is a tactical console. Since these are not Advanced Consoles, they can be used with Isomags as well.
I'm surprised you didn't include the Experimental Power Redirection console from the Atlantis in this vid...I use it on all my energy builds these days....Especially phaser builds.
Yes you can use the colony console with the isomags. I run my Vengeance like that, 7 isomags, 4 colony consoles. Not much room left for uni consoles but it hits like a truck under SS3
I agree with Geoff, using Isomags and Colony consoles is quite suboptimal, I mean if you have absolutely nothing better to use then sure, but you'd really want to start putting in other consoles as soon as possible, I mean there are numerous consoles you can pick up that don't cost an arm and a leg that'd be better in slot than the colony ones
@@stue2298 especially if your like me and walked away January 2013 and just coming back to the game now in July 2024. Got to find out what is the current gear you need to avoid wasting time and money on other equipment. I am currently in process of rebuilding my Galaxy X dreadnought build hate to toss my old fleet phasers but I think I'm going to have to ask I'm not tanky nor a damage fishing build. Might also get rid of a couple of my Borg equipment which was the core of my tank build in 2012. Sure there's better out now.

Yes you can use colony consoles with advanced consoles. As long as it doesn't say Advanced in the description of the console, you can use them. I usually mix and match them into my build s for survivability.
I use the Odyssey-class and all of its variants consoles on my Lexington-class the console you mentioned is NOT on any of the Tier 5 or 6 Odyssey-class Starships! It’s not even on the Verity-class locked behind the 10th Anniversary Bundle very expensive even with sales discount. All the Odyssey-class variants consoles equal a SET Bonus after all. Thus if it’s on the Verity-class it’s an extra console on the ship.
Hi @mcstu, love the content. I know the is only a subset of your audience but one thing I would like to see in the content is a caution or maybe an episode on the difference between console and pc due to limitations on sub system settings which may make some traits/gear much less useful. Hard to stack aux/weapons for example.
hey great video. i personally only use phasers in my builds, and recently got my hands on the immolating phaser lance, which is my favorite. but i noticed yours has a damage rate of 29k, while mine is like 12k. may i ask how that is? my guess is endeavors. i'm still in the mid 100s
Don't forget everyone with the new event if you complete it you can get an epic token free for every character on your account, meaning you can get the DOMINO for free if you complete the upcoming event.
Fleet power network goes really well with the enhanced induction coils, if you have the slots to spare. Either that or use a red matter capacitor for a small boost or Aux batteries for an almost full effect.
Finally broke down and picked up Mags on both mine and the kids account . We both need a little work on consoles but we both have the Ahwahnee and now the DOMINO . On hers she got very lucky and was able to get the Immolating Phaser Lance with only 15 keys the little jerk lol ;) . So making some headway ..
Freeloading cheapskate edition. 1. Episode "Of signs and portents" from New Frontiers - Phaser tactical relay.(can repeat this mission to fill slots. 2. Episode "Sunrise" from Future Proof. Universal console Quantum phase converter. One piece only. 3. Gamma Rep Tier2 - Universal console Ordnance Accelerator. One piece only. 4. Episode "Scylla and Charybdis" from New Frontier. Equipping 2 Bajor Defense Set pieces gives a buff to phaser damage. You can get a piece from the Phoenix store too which again, is entirely for free with game resources from playing. There's other freely obtained bits and bobs for your equipment slots from missions and rep-box drops but seem only mediocre gains compared to something better for survival or a set bonus etc but who knows, maybe if you stitch all those other overlooked(by myself) consoles with far less impressive weapons and phaser buffs together perhaps the end result might actually pack such a big punch that it justifies significantly dropping the benefits of "better" options... interesting.
Tbh I don't like the fact that the type of console has become almost irrelevant. Most slots will be filled with universal consoles, anyway. If there's one huge bit missing from STO, it's drawbacks. Everything is just minmax the stack. But yeah, I know it's the way it is and always was. Gonna mention it anyway. Your personal Star Trek Power Trip is nice. But the game could've been so much more.
I like using dual heavy phaser cannons on an all of my builds with that said I use a lot of pre-fire chamber tactical consoles from the Discovery rep store, that gives straight Cannon damage and some critical chance so my question is what's better straight Cannon damage or straight phaser damage consoles?
MCSTu, This question has been bothering me for a long time. Does it even make sense to have heterogeneous weapons like beam banks and heavy cannons? as an example, of course, ships with a 5 by 3 or 5 by 2 weapon system. Or is it better to stick to the same weapons? there are also traits of the type: preferential targeting.
@@MCStu No, I realize that by conditionally removing 2 beam banks from the front side and changing them with heavy cannons, I reduce the damage from fire at will or overload. But don't two different firing mods give you a bigger boost? If the ship has 4x4 gun slots, like Valkis dreadnought, I bet all beam arrays, well, except for the set bonus from discovery banks. Let's just say I'm interested in the viability of such a build, based on starship traits on multiple firing mods. I would not like to spend an extra 300 million EC if there is no sense at all)
