Thanks for this. My gas cap is slightly different. Has a thin metal diaphragm on a spring in side cap. I just pushed it in and out a few times and my mower works fine now.
Thanks, you just saved me. The gas cap looked like the easiest place to begin. No hole, No metal diaphragm, but a rubber one. Pushed it in a few times and worked like a charm! This 67 year old woman fixed it herself.Getting the mower into my car to take to be fixed would have been difficult. Woo hoo.
My lawnmower used to stop working in the middle of job , because of jammed blade blocked by too much pasted grass around the blade , my neighbor told me don't use bags and switch to "mulch" option instead of "bag" , and also use near the highest level of wheels ...I did as he said no more stopping of the blade...of course only if your lawnmower has not other problems
On my Toro mower with Briggs & Stratton engine (using same carburetor as in the video), the aluminum tube that the carburetor attaches (the tube from carb to engine with the O ring) has a "hole" about 1/4" wide x 1/2" long in the tube. Is this normal? I noticed other video's did not have this "cut-out" in the intake runner tube. It looks factory, not rusted thru etc. Need your assistance sir. Thanks in advance and keep up the clear and concise videos.
I found that if you take the float bowl off and use carb cleaner, bend the plastic red straw tube into the main jet. Get some good squirts and problem solved. No need to take the carb off.
I wonder if thats not my problem. I replaced the carburetor and it runs fine for a while, then stalls. It restarts and runs great, then does it again. If I bounce the mower up and down a few times, it clears up and runs fine again.
I just make sure the battery is fully charged and I do not have to worry about any of this. Maintenance free except for keeping the blade sharp. I love it no more gas for me.
I've got a Cub Cadet 6.75 and I bought a new carburetor for it and put it on put fresh gas in it and when I start it up and still stalls right out what else could be the issue
my mower will run good, when i stop it , its like it freezes the motor up. I can tilt the mower on its side and manually back the motor up to free it up. What causes this? It also has started to smoke when I start it. any suggestions?
But it's not difficult to find and clean a hole in a gas cap. Rather than spend the $15, I'd find a way, or make another hole, which would also be splash proof. Thanks for the tips.
My 3.5hp B n S will only start to run if I pour gas down the plug shoot or down the carb throat and dies when the small amount of gas has been exausted. Followed all the steps according to the book to no avail. Can only have one possible solution, I need to replace the battery.....just kidding, the carb!
What about not starting at all? I have a tecumseh 4.5 hp lawnmower that will not start. It has spark, it has compression, and I've cleaned the carburetor but it refuses to turn over. The closest its come to starting was a nice pop/backfire. I've cleaned the gas tank flushed the oil. Still it's a no start. Any advice will be appreciated.
Well I have a rider that starts and runs. Once I engage the blade it works for about 5 min. Then it will die. Like it’s out of gas. I’ve replaced the fuel lines and filter. What do you think it is?
Had my lawnmower for 18 years and now it's stalling. Don't want to put money into this old thing. Time for a new one. Got my money's worth out of this.
I was given a Honda HRR216 7VKA but does idle then dies with grey & black smoke pouring out... I replaced old fuel with fresh premium fuel changed oil & now it revs up & down. It looks clean overall but don't know what to do next. I had recently purchased a new Honda HRN216 but plan on storing it while I use this free Honda . Any suggestions will be appreciated.
there's a diaphragm on some models between the gas tank and carburetor. if that gasket is leaking, allowing air in, that is what cause the rev up and down, also known as "surging".
ill eventually get an electric mower, but there's no point if i can keep my current gas mower running for cheap. plus you give them time to develop better battery tech.
