Rotary polishing has been around much longer than DA polishers. Polishing with a random orbital polisher is a great way to avoid swirl marks, multiple steps, and the potential of burning through paint more easily, but in some scenarios like deep scratches, or working with gel coat, rotary polishers may be the right solution to save time!
I've got a love hate relationship with the rupes cut and finish pads...I'm so reluctant to buy the waffle pads in my country its to expensive to buy and try...so far I'm loving the koch pads especially their wool pads

I ordered the 3 inch blue coarse Rupes foam pad and i was going to do a test spot using a rotary type polisher. The orange Griot's pad was unable to remove car wash scratches and this blue foam was suggested. I then watched one of the Rupes reps in a video say not suggested to use this pad w rotary but didn't explain why ? I'm still learning about polishing.
Rotary pads and Dual Action / Random Orbital pads are very different. DA/RO pads are stiffer with more lateral stability. RUPES makes both Rotary and DA/RO coarse blue pads. Just make sure you use the rotary version which is softer and engineered to work with rotary movement.
