I've yet to see it....I will look into it. My gut is that the commercialization of climbing and mountaineering is everything I was against back in the day when I got started, ice climbing first. I loved that no one I had ever known was a climber...then, boom, I dove into that community of people living in horrible rental houses, gorging on the salad bar at Burger King for the one good meal, going to 2-for-1 night at local bars where they'd put tiny pizza slices out for patrons and we'd eat our fill. That's the stuff that I get into....the wealthy, hot shot climbers living in Sprinter vans that they bought on their parents' trust fund, boring as living hell. Yes, I'm ranting. All that said, Jason Momoa is pretty cool, something tells me he'll make it pretty watchable. Cheers and thank you!
@@EverestMystery great explanation I enjoy your content because u seem very rooted in the community & personal experiences involved in climbing. The trailer is on RU-vid and just came out in the last couple of days. I don’t climb but enjoy the older climbing stories & the mainstreaming of climbing just seems to me it could hurt the integrity of mountaineering . Thanks for all your content
@@bs431980 Ugh. Just saw the trailer. My 2 cents. Climbing is such a personal journey that competition shouldn't be a part of it. It commercializes it. My opinion only. But I didn't like it becoming part of the Olympics either. Lol But the good side is that it could help others get into it and experience the personal growth journey that may not have otherwise been interested in trying. As with anything, pros and cons.
@@coachtim6188 great perspective. As someone who doesn’t climb your description is how I picture most mountaineers feel . I think we already see the physical damage from commercialized climbing on Everest . However I may be speaking out of turn since I’ve never been there. Just my observation I guess
I love the quote about being authentic. That is something I've struggled with my entire life. It's rooted in a desire to be liked that is so strong it causes you to agree when you disagree, to not stick to your own beliefs in fear people won't like you, to say things that relate you to others that you wouldn't otherwise say. It's rooted in insecurity. And a plethora of other tendencies along with those. A huge part of my own personal growth and spiritual journey is to squash those tendencies and just be who I am and let others decide if they want to like me or not. I look forward to hearing from that man.
Thank you for your kind manners. I began to see the anger you spoke of which made asking a question somehow not worth asking no matter how curious I was. But not with you and I thank you for that.
Wonderful to have you here.... It's really hard to phrase questions just right to suggest a proper tone of voice. All that said, ask away whenever you have a question! I look forward to seeing more of you here in 2023, thank you!
You make a good point about going over the top emotionally with unhepful and negative comments. I have found myself doing it too, usually mildly, and based upon what I beieve to be reasoned analysis. I suppose it is wiser to acknowledge that without absolute proof, we are all speculating to some degree on this mystery. And such speculation, even if unsupported by the known facts and evidence, does not justify nasty comments, hatred, or disrespect. Critical comments pointing out logical fallacies and inaccuracies can add to the discussion in many ways, but when the language rises to anger or insults, it takes away from the discussion in a very large way, even perhaps, negating any helpfulness that otherwise might have existed. This mystery does stir the passions.
This is indeed a subject that brings the passions out. I get it, it's a story that resonates on many levels. I get worked up now and then, as well....and have to remind myself to tone it down and also to remind myself that I'm probably wrong about most of the guesses I'm making LOL Cheers!
Thanks again Mr Pollard. May this New Year bring new and wonderful adventures for you. I look forward to all of your positive and respectful interviews. May all your dreams come true in 2023!
Much has been learned since then....but I still continue to consider the input of the community. Since this video was done I've done almost 80 new long form videos, including exclusive content videos for Members. Wow, we've come a long long way! Thanks for being a part of the channel and for supporting it. It means very much to me! Thank you!
Love your video's! Thank u for making them. I am also absolutely facinated with nde experiences, i also had a similar experience (altho it was not a nde) but it changed my life completely. Would love to see more video's on this subject
I went through a phase of watching and researching the mystery of Mallory and Irving some years ago. However I stopped doing it when I realise I was just flip flopping with every new interpretation of events. I like to think of myself as fairly decisive but not with this one. Yes they summited... No they didn't. Anyway thankyou for your channel and its interesting evidence and thoughts. Happy 2023.
I feel the same way....truly, I find myself on the fence, going from one side to the other. I'm honestly more interested in the current events of the mountains and 8,000 meter peaks. Hopefully, there is some content here that satiates that curiosity. Thanks for being here!
@@EverestMystery Thankyou. Yes of course there is, I do find it all fascinating as to do it seems like an almost alien mentality to myself so its thought provoking. As for Mallory and Irving , I would love for them to be proven as the first to summit Everest :)
Thom happy new year 🎉 and keep all the Great Everest Journalism coming our way. Your story is still being told. I can't wait for the finished product. I feel that Irvine will have more twists. I'm looking forward to what is coming. Cheers to the new year, and your work has kept me very interested in this amazing mountain of mystery!
It's actually 100% accurate. However, if someone isn't aware that the name of this channel is @EverestMystery it might feel that way. I truly hate to disappoint and hope you'll take a look at some of the other videos on this channel before making a determination on whether you like this channel or not. Stick around and let me know what you think. Cheers and thank you!
I'm obsessed with all things extreme mountain climbs. Expeditions in detail. Blow by blow, event by event, mystery by mystery. These are why I came to your channel. The successes and the failures in full details. History, background etc. I'm sorry but I don't watch anything but these videos. I am sure it's all good content as you are very talented in your filming and photography. Keep going!!
Nice post Thom. You're such a joyful character and I always appreciate your respectfulness, civility and awarenesses that the Mallory and Irvine story really isn't setting to lose your rag about. Much love.
This year was also the year I connected with you and made a new friend. I can't thank you enough for befriending me and taking time to converse with me over the year. I appreciate you and am praying for you! God Bless you Thom!!
Love all the videos. I have always been interested in one way or another in Mallory and Irvine. The possibility that they could have reached the summit first will always hold public interests until the mystery is finally solved.....
I was not one of the ones that was so upset that day, and I may have already said this on the actual video about the camera being found, but that question mark was pretty critical. Without that, it is a statement "they found it", not a question. People hate believing one thing when they come to a video only to then feel like they got fooled. I mean no matter how good the content is, people will literally unsubscribe if they sense anything close to clickbait on a channel. This is speaking from experience from a channel I had with 100K subscribers. But lesson learned it looks like.
Tim, you nailed it. In my heart and mind and with the conversations I've had with many in the know, I'm pretty sure that the story is true. Now, pretty sure isn't absolute. I have more detailed intel on someone having visited a personal museum in a high-up official of the mountaineering authority and having seen equipment and possibly a camera from the British 1920's. FUN STUFF! The Unsubscribes I was talking about in this video were probably from the Top 10 tips for living....some people don't want to hear it, which is totally cool. I keep honing in on getting this channel dialed in. Cheers my friend!
@@EverestMystery You're doing an awesome job. The most important thing was to just begin which you did. The channel will then find its own way to where it needs to be. I love how Project Farm got going. He was just going to do random things about living on a farm, how to videos, some equipment reviews here and there, etc. It has since become one of the leading channels for nothing but product testing with several million followers.
