I feel like in a smack down each bike should be in the gear it needs to be for max power on the hit. Seems like the BMW suffers from the inline four struggle of needing to get those RPM's up vs the low end torque of the Ducati.
Yeah I feel like ib has become the go to man for tuned up bike comparison tests. And with that responsibility he has to get tighter methods with his comparisons. I feel like weighing the bikes with riders just handicaps the lighter bike if they end up being the same weight with different riders. And I agree with the gear selection at start should be up to the bike my r1 starting in second would be sooo slow vs my first gear start that maxes out at 112mph
Full akrapovic on multistrada v4 is for track use only . It Gives 10-12 hp in middle rpm and cuts top speed . Checked with mine also. If you want top speed just put stock exhaust and akrapovic slip on only . Then you will be surprised with 180 -182 mph and easy. As you noticed on your previous videos with RS top speed was 172 mph with full exhaust again but on 12000rpm. The bike goes up to 13500 easy with stock exhaust modification. The opposite happens with Mxr. With stock exhaust is garbage. With full exhaust is missle. All these have beeen checked and confirmed with my friends here in Greece. And something else. 0-400 m will be a nice video also . Drag race !!!
I'm a big sports tourer fan and M1000XR is my dream bike. Too expensive to own this beast in Singapore. Currently riding a 2017 Tracer 900. Even the new Tracer GT plus cost about $40k plus minus including taxes and insurance.
Wait til the Beemer is tuned....he will gain 50hp right in the midrange....the stock tune of the BMW makes it like a 600cc bike til it hits 9000 rpm when the throttle restriction is finally lifted...slap a Brentune on that thing and re-race...bet its a 100 percent different.

Has the Pikes Peak been kitted with full exhaust and tuned? Having carbon wheels would help it a spin up a bit but same outcome, I reckon. I have the PP--so.... But I would rather have the initial RS hit. But I hear tuning the BMW is almost mandatory and big changed happen.
@@tomtraynor5384 Yes it has the full exhaust and tune, but the Granturismo motor only has more power up to 10k rpm, after that the Panigale motor kicks in and slaps it.
I own a V4s Multistrada, it's way quicker out of the bends than an XR. However, the XR kicked ass on the top end. We don't normally do straights in the UK 😂
I think i'd be just happy with the v4 pikes speed given the insane valve service intervals. At least i know it'd be much faster than my multistrada 1200
Ridden both (not RS or Pikes Peak) and own a V4s Sport full. BMW great bike but vibrations and inline 4 bore factor was a no no. V4 is outstandingly phenomenal!

Get the MXR flashed and then start from second gear and you might see a very different race. I also don't think you can win at the start of a race ha ha.
THere are 200hop Harleys rolling around that would truly surprise you... :D. Top end speed isnt in the same league but 130-200 ft-lbs of torque is FUN to ride....no matter who you are.
Throw a full system exhaust and brent tune on the bmw. It will a hole different story. The Ducati won't stand a chance. The BMW would leave it standing at all speeds.
Please compare apples to apples. Get the MXR BrenTuned & headers fitted please. Looking forward to a proper test. And by the way, Im a Ducati owner, no bias to brand. The RS is unfortunately overpriced and under specced. I have a MXR on order.
an M5 is faster than a Porsche 911 - but its a porsche 911, it has feeling and character........ I never cared for that bmw engine, had an M1R all carbob and S1RR , now I have the RS w full system, bike is like a porsche GT3 AMAZING
The m xr must suffer from a rather dead midrange as the north american s1000rr shift cam engines have. Start the race at the rpms that each enine needs. My s1000xr with brentuning everything 179whp would likely pull the rs everywhere and lose to the m xr at a higher speed.

Just not fair for the M1000xr. If you try one race on the right rpms for the BMW M1000xr the smackdown for the Ducati Multistrada will be very spicy. Those motorbikes they dont have the same gear ration. And if you want a fair race you should have one race on the best rpms of bmw and then to change and race on the best rpms of the Ducati as you was racing all the time in this video. Or even better to try to drag racing the Motorbikes as real men with launch control. And if you can not find a men to accelerate motorbike correct and keep the rpms up with the launch control, get me a ticket and i will come from europe to show you what is mean acceleration.
