You're going to lose your forceps if you don't attach a lanyard to them.

By the way waste-coats and other gear like shirts and jackets are often far to light in colour, great if you are catching tame stockies but wild fish see you easily, my tip to new fly fisherman is buy gear that is olive green in colour, in my case I have dyed my waste-coat with olive green dye. You chuck the dye ball and the garment in the washing machine, also do not wear sand coloured hats, olive green or buff brown , in short think special forces not a day out shopping with your wife. Sounds exaggerated but I have been fishing for nearly 50 years. They see you long before you see them, especially on clear water. Good luck, especially to new anglers, welcome aboard.

All looks good but I use a dated American style fishing vest waste-coat / vest, since the beat is 3 miles and I yomp up and down it until I am bushed, I don’t want to go back to the car so I need to get lunch, and water, and an ultra lightweight waterproof , I can get all that in the waste-coat.

This is really strange, I have only started up fishing for a year, however, I have ended up with the EXACT same layout as yourself, right down to the biopod and amadou. I have recently decided to change out the included pack and replace it with a fishpond thunderhead chest pack, I don't like the idea of falling in and drenching the tacky fly boxes. I just wish FP would release a standalone waterproof pack for the belt. I've also found a magnetic fly drying patch for the strap or bag to be useful, and a small ID wallet to display licence and membership.

Great minds and all that! It would be handy if it was fully waterproof, I agree.

Nice video thanks , regarding the mid length fishpond landing net, I have been trying to buy one for several weeks now but no one in the UK appears to have them in stock, most annoying. Once again really nice video.

Thanks for the comment, sorry you can’t get them at the moment... I presume that is a reflection of the current situation, hope they come in soon!

Probably the Tacky Day box on the Pescador… hope that helps!

The Switchback belt would it suit the angler with a larger waist (asking for a friend lol) do enjoy your videos
@AardvarkMcLeodFlyFishing

Hi Connie! Thanks for the message and in answer to your question the belt would certainly have no problem in adjusting to any size. I find it most comfortable when it sits on my hips and the shoulder strap helps to distribute the weight... with all these things it would come down to personal preference.

Nice video, I`m a flyfisher in Norway that is looking into a new pack or two and find this switchback system interesting (but not able to see or test them live since my local dealers don`t sell Fishpond). I, therefore, have questions :) How do you think this belt will work a bit higher up -like a "switchback chest pack"..? Reason is that I often use a "stripping basket" when flyfishing for seatrout/seabass... The other option for me is to use the switchback as intended, but try to connect my stripping basket to the switchback system somehow.... Or do you suggest to use another pack in combination with the stripping basket? I know a lot use slingpacks, but I don`t like the load/weight on one shoulder.. Thanks

@AardvarkMcLeodFlyFishing 4 года назад
As much as I love the switch pack I don’t think it’s going to work for you. The belt would now work at all for a chest harness as it’s a fully padded load carrying belt that need to be on you hips. Depending on how your stripping basket works you could potentially add it to the strap system, but going to be locked in place and if you have it directly in from it will cover the buckle... not sure it’s the one for you.... sounds like you need one of their wet dry chest packs.....

Hi Peter from Northern California! Great info!! Can you tell me when and how you use the river mud? Thanks again.

Hi there, so the product you are looking for is Fuller’s earth mixed with glycerin. Many companies sell a small pot of this and you run the first couple of feet of your tippet to the fly though it and it degreases the leader and stops it flashing to make your leader more invisible to the fish…

Hi , great video ! . jus wondering the fishpond net do you think that would be suitable for use at fisheries like Dever springs and Avington ? . thanks
@AardvarkMcLeodFlyFishing
@AardvarkMcLeodFlyFishing 3 года назад
Hi James, I would say one of their ‘Boat Nets’ which have a much wider head... comes in a couple of lengths of handles depending on how mobile you want to be. I have fit a 16lbs carp in my mid length though...

Thanks for the video it's great, I got my self a switcback pro and I must say it's really good. But know I am interested in a fishpond net and my question is if I buy mid range like yours, doesn't that bounds on your legs when you walk? Is that not to long ? When you have it in the back on the belt most regards J
@AardvarkMcLeodFlyFishing
@AardvarkMcLeodFlyFishing 3 года назад
I have the mid length and I don’t notice it all.. only when I get down on my knees and then it just rides up a bit and then drops back down… have never noticed it banging the back of my legs…
