NaturalLaw, would have watched the video if it had been for those seasons only? (Lol). The first 2 years it had low ratings too, especially in the beginning. It might be placed at 10 one week and at 50 the next. I wanted to give an overview of the worst-rated episodes even if I had to manipulate (a little bit) the numbers. It would be hard to equate Dallas in today's internet streaming world and now there are so many TV channels, cable, Satellite, Terrestrial etc. I remember as Child in the 80's and 90s all the adults were talking about Dallas, the Women would call their friend talking about the Bastard JR and what he did now. Everyone tuned in because there were very few channels. Here in Ireland we only had 2 TV channels. Dallas was as big as you could get and I don't think there has been a single TV show to get as much fame since, yes there were bad episodes and seasons but there was nothing like it at the time and nothing since and now there's just so much more content.
The show wasn't the same without Jock but i really believe that it began waning after Pam left and then all of these younger actors were being added. Especially around 1988, 89. In order to attract younger viewers. And getting rid of Lucy was no loss.
In a lot of ways the first couple of seasons were the best, tho. Better contained stories with fewer ridiculous and fantastical schemes and threads woven between them and more personal drama.

That story line with Priscilla Presley or any storyline with her was boring. I think after The Who shot JR cliffhanger and the death of Jim Davis the show lost a lot of it’s luster.
