I wonder how the ending of Ocarina of Time would feel like if he named himself Jackass. Ganondorf: CURSE YOU...ZELDA! CURSE YOU...SAGES!! CURSE YOU...JACKASS!!!
My most memorable moment was Midna's goodbye from Twilight Princess. I played through it with my grandma after we had finally gotten it, and I had come to like Midna. Then that scene comes, something I would never have suspected, and it made me shed tears. Midna, we all miss you. :,(
Also, I seem to oddly enough be the only person who doesn't mind Link's companions (Fi, Midna and/or Navi). I mean I know they point out the obvious or nothing special, but I always saw them as a friend and never got on my nerves. Though among all of them Midna is my favorite.
Great video. My most memorable momment would be entering Hyrule Field for the first time in OOT. I felt so... free and warm... that... child-like curiosity overwhealmed me and I just wanted to explore and go on an adventure! :D
For me the most memorable moment in the franchise is meeting Princess zelda for the first time in Ocarina. I wasn't a huge zelda fan in the past (because I was an idiot) until I met my girlfriend who is a zelda freak. so Prior to asking her out I decided to play through Ocarina for the first time to have something in common with her, it did give me something to talk about with her as I would constantly be texting her asking her about the game. I don't know why but when I met zelda for the first time in the game it stuck with me, and it always makes me think of her. I dedicated Zelda's lullaby to her, cheesey as fuck but oh well xD
Eric Pivaral dude.... I remembered I first liked my girlfriend when she started talking about how Wind Waker is one of her favorite games of all time... hands down the best relationship I've ever been in... the best relationship ever
For me, a very memorable moment from the series is the horde battle from SS. You are fighting enemies that, for me, were about equal in my skill and strength when i just started out on the game. Come the end. And im decked out to the teeth, with the strongest sword in the game, with literal waves of baddies coming towards me. And now, where one was a fight, an entire army cant stop me. You chew threw them like butter, and for me, i felt unstoppable fighting them. It felt so fucking sweet.
One of my favorite moments is one I thought was pretty funny. Remember in OOT when Link finds Ruto in the Water Temple and Ruto goes on the record talking about how Link is her love? What I found was funny is when Link opens his mouth in shock like he's thinking, "oh shit! I can't believe she still remembers that time when I was getting the Wisdom stone in Lord Jabu Jabu's Belly!"
Maybe it's just me, but I always found Midna's Farewell to be very memorable for LoZ Twilight Princess. Saying goodbye to a companion who was an actual companion was heartbreaking in every way to me.
I think the Legend of Zelda moment that stays with me the most is the escort wagon quest in Twilight Princess. My reason for this is that throughout the Zelda series you play the role as the one true hero of world. And Twilight Princess is the first Zelda in my mind that flips the script a little bit and shows you that there are other people our the in kingdom who want to fight to. And by adding this layer of character development to the story all of the sudden there is a much deeper bond be Link and the citizens of Hyrule, and for me I first made that connection when you team up with a bar maid and your childhood friend to save the life of a Zoran child. Cool stuff.
One of my most memorable moments was entering the Deku Tree. (OOT was my first Zelda game) It's difficult to explain..the calming but eerie music makes the atmosphere just perfect
#4 This moment was played out perfectly, as you described it. And this moment also is the magic of Skyward Sword for me. You can really see the emotion Link has when he's parting with Fi and he almost looks like he's about to cry - which would've been a nice touch. And honestly looking at "older" (chronologically looking newer) Zelda games - she's still there. Everytime you got full HP and use that laser beam - she's there. Maybe not in person, but she is. And that's just well done, Nintendo.
yes, the parting-with-Fi part is very dramatic and sad, and it made me cry when I played the game. but now I can never see it the same again, after seeing Fi say "Master Jackass" 😹 I will NEVER cry at it again 😹😻😺😸
Man, the most memorable moment in any Zelda game (and maybe most emotional) is the part in Twilight Princess where Midna is dying after people exposed to the Spirit of Lake Lanayru's light and maimed to the verge of death. Every time I play the game and get to that scene, I honestly do start crying. It's such an important thing to see Midna healed, to see her out of pain, that I have to force myself not to go grab a tissue and hold onto that controller until the little Imp is safe again.
(SPOILER) What about the part in skyward sword where we find out Zelda had been using Link, and goes to sleep for all eternity in that crystal, until you go get her after having beaten the game? That part was emotional, man..
I'm so glad you mentioned Fi's goodbye. To me, Skyward Sword brought forth the most emotionally charged moments in the Zelda franchise and because everyone seems to hate Fi, I didn't think it'd make the list. Well done!
The scene in OOT where Link first meets Zelda and Zelda's Lullaby begins to play will always be my favorite Legend of Zelda moment. Complete nostalgia.
Definetly agree with number one, those final hours gave me feel no other game ever has. And the Anju and Kafei sidequest is one of my favorite sidequest of all Zelda games.
"Nice flying, Jackass!" hahahah. most memorable part of the most memorable zelda parts video. On a separate note, I was really surprised the ending of Wind Waker wasn't on here. I was expecting it to be number one when I saw the rest of your picks, but all your others were totally memorable so I can't really complain. Also, you really put into words why visiting Hyrule Castle for the first time in WW impacts me so much. That whole setup and how it changed the game from then on is just genius.
Me and my friend played Wind Waker together and we got stuck at one point forever. And when we finally placed all the orbs in the triangle shape and they shot beams and raised the giant tower from the ocean, we were flipped shit, we were like "THIS IS SO AWESOME"
My #1 would be obtaining the Fierce Deity Mask in Majoras Mask. You worked hard, getting all 23 masks, and now you have obtained the ultimate power, to fight the evil about to end the world.
My own top 5 (obvious spoilers) 5- Midnas lament (tp) 4- ciela's true identity (ph) 3- that letter off grandma (ww) 2- the fiery death (mm) 1- The dying soldier (oot) obviously these lists will be very different according to the games you grew up with and the ages you played them. For me OOT was the first LOZ game I played back in the late 90s, so many parts of it are still very memorable to me. Seeing a character die in game suddenly made everything very real for me and it's something that I will never forget.
My personal most memorable moment in Zelda was in my first Zelda game, the GBA port of Link to the Past. I remember the journey to gather the pendents and find the Master Sword, the first time it was known as such a blade. When you finally find it in the maze of the Lost woods and pull it from the monument in which it lies the fog and darkness of the woods peal away and light shines into the woods. It is like the classic way of ending a movie or major fight. And the best part is that you can find the sword before you can pull it, knowing that there is something special about it.
I would have chosen the parting with Midna... You essentially have the parting with Fi, only better (and harder to go through). Midna was VERY important to the story itself as she was the Princess of this invading realm that she had lost control of, and she's doing all she can to fix that. Her intelligent, respectable, but also sassy character made her enjoyable to be around, and even though she was sometimes a bit of a jerk to you, you never stopped rooting for her as you did for Link! Her character was also important to the game play. Unlike Fi, her "words of knowledge" were more hints than just blatantly pointing obvious shit out, and it was also optional. She didn't give anything away but rather guided you in the right direction, expecting you to be smart enough to fit the pieces of the puzzle together yourself! It was also because of her that you could survive the Twilight realm by turning you into a wolf, and her "hair" gave your said wolf form additional range to your attacks. She wasn't just this thing that followed you around and shouted at you while you were on an adventure. The two of you were in this adventure together! You BOTH got the Master Sword. You BOTH Defeated Ganon. And then to watch her walk through the cracking Mirror that held the two worlds together, knowing she wasn't going to come back... that was heart braking! You just lost half of yourself! You just lost part of you that fought through all of this! You weren't saying goodbye to a sword, you were saying goodbye to your partner! And THAT, I think, is why Midna's Farewell is FAR more memorable than Fi's!
Pretty much on point for my top 3D Zelda moments. One I might have subbed for Fi's much-awaited departure was the sequence in Twilight Princess wherein Link saves Colin and the other children from moblin cavalry and defeats their leader in single combat, finishing with an excellent horseback pose in the sunset. That's one of my favourites :).
I thought this was a very well done top 10. I think you did a great job picking out memorable moments and did a very good job at explaining them. I just enjoyed this video very much compared to a lot of other top 10s. Good job.
I know that this list was made before the game was even released, but I think the ending of A Link Between Worlds definitely qualifies for the top 10 most memorable moments. Since the ending contains both the reveals of Hilda's plan and Ravio's identity and that gorgeous scene with the restoration of the Lorulean triforce, it's well worth remembering.
Another part about number 9 for me personally was during that fight Ghirahim can actually steal your sword away from you. I honestly was still getting use to the Wii motion plus' controls and Ghirahim actually gave me some challenge. But the first time he actually takes your blade away from you, I had a 0.0 moment and thought "oh god, what do I do now?" Great way of setting him up as a villain and makes it so satisfying to absolutely waste him once you face him again in the 6th dungeon.
Majoras mask has TOO much feeling. I agree with you on the third and first one. My god!!!!!!!! i cried in the corner of my room for days feeling sympathy and empathy for all of the characters in the game that are near death everytime you play
You know what would be a very nice Legend of Zelda game? One which Link is fully grown (about 20/30 years old) and is going to be crowned king of Hyrule. But then, something attacks, and leaves Hyrule devestated. Link seeks revenge for the deaths of many, included Zelda. He ventures out of the known lands and discovers there are other civilizations. He then builds an army to vanquish all evil from the lands. He then dies at the end of the game and the player sees in a cinematic that before Zelda died she gave birth to a son which then concludes into a new game of Link junior searching for remnants of Hyrule and eventually finds an ancient relic: the Triforce. The young link discovers the old land and seeks to reclaim what once was lost. With the power of the Triforce he then kills the demon and restores peace to the ancient lands of Hyrule. These two games shouldn't be such a zelda game where "he's the chosen one", but he has very strong feelings and he wants to restore peace because of the love he once had. Wouldn't that be an awesome Legend?
I love the final fight with Ganondorf for a number of reasons. One reason was it was the only time I ever used the Red outfit (Magic Armour I think was that it was called) with the max amount of Rupees. And not only was the whole fight fun, the fight to me was so perfectly planned that I ran out of Rupees as soon as the final fight began, forcing me to strip off the gear and wearing the regular green tunic. And to me that perfect timing, among other things, made it the most memorable final fight in the Zelda series
One of my faves is at the end of Link's Awakening when Koholint Island disappears and all of your acquaintances and friends go with it, very strong scene, even in a 2D game.
With the total expectation of being laughed at and ridiculed, I had no problem with Fi in Skyward Sword, I found her (it?) an interesting character. But then, I never had a problem with Navi either so *bats away thrown rotten tomato * Hey, sorry for being the only one to defend them, sorry for breathing. *run away from mob of Navi haters* All right, I'll stop now! :-)
I didn't mind Navi either. I seldom had a problemwith her glitching out and spamming 'hey listen' every two seconds. And by the time she said it enough to what would normally be annoying it just faded into the backround of the game for me.
Though it has been a long time since I played OaT, I don't remember her spamming "hey listen" for me. Might have suppressed it I suppose... :-) But then, Twilight Princess is my favourite which I am LP'ing for the second time right now, so the older games might have faded a bit. My most memorable moment in that is the ending, having to let Midna, rather than Fi go, So sad...
the wind waker final blow was the best moment for me, mostly because you kick ganon in the face. The impaling, turning to stone, and throwing an ocean at him was just a bonus.
I have to add three to the top 10. - You play the ballad of the windfish and the dream fades away, in Link's awakening. (a.k.a. Farewell Marin) - Riding Epona into battle for the first time against the bokoblins who kidnapped the kid in twilight princess. - (sound of hoves passing by) (six notes on the ocarina and cue the piano) (logo appears). That's it, your very first moment of "gaming". The first memory you have of a journey that will change your life and your very identity. You finally have this game you've dreamed of for a year before you successfully convinced your parents to buy a nintendo. Welcome to "The Legend of Zelda".
Grant Jackson Midna teleported you across Hyrule, turned you into a wolf, teleported entire bridges and giant boulders for you, saved your life several times, introduced you to Zelda, helped you find your friends, helped you defeat imortal enemies, open doors for you, helped you climb over impassable obstacles, stayed by your side to protect you from Zant and nearly died in the process, allowed you to enter the twilight world and twilight zone, broke you out of prison, killed Zant, broke the barrier surrounding Hyrule Castle, saved Zelda, fought beside you against Ganon by tuppling his beast form over with her own strength, sacrificed herself to fight Ganon by herself and destroyed the bridge between the two worlds so nothing like this would happen again even though she was in love with link. Minda did more in the game than Link or Zelda. She ain't no bitch - she's bitchy, and that makes her entertaining as hell.
