Professor Layton uses weapons during certain points in games, though not that violently and thus makes a perfect fit for Super Smash Bros. He uses a fencing sword near the end of The Diabolical Box (Pandora's Box) and actually uses a sword again in The Miracle Mask (Don't know what it's called in Europe), a machine gun made from a gambling machine that shoots coins that he uses in The Unwound Future (Lost Future) and I think that that especially would fit with Super Smash Bros. The coin machine gun could actually be his final smash! Guys, we can totally make this work!
sergio mendez Actually unlike Phoenix Layton does have combat skills, he's pretty good with a sword and I'm sure Nintendo would be able to do some pretty creative stuff with his puzzle aspects. (I'm thinking matchsticks)
Lol, yesterday evening I was joking with my mum about professor Layton as a playable character in the upcoming Smash Bros game! Now you're making me hope for that! :D
It may seem like a sort of strange choice, but I'd personally put Zant from Twilight Princess in the game. Everywhere I go, I hear "Midna for Smash Bros!" Well, why not Zant? All the stuff he does in his boss fight would make a sick moveset, and that thing he does with his first confrontation with Link would make a cool, if simple, final smash.
Well back when Brawl was being developed a lot of people including myself really wanted Zant to appear as a playable char but that didn't happen so it isn't too much of a stretch to want him in it now. However, while I do really think Zant is a cool char, it seems everyone else is leaning toward Ghirahim or Demise because Skyward Sword is the most recent Zelda title and those two seem like better choices so I'm inclined to agree with those people.
Steve Steveson Nintendo should just put in Midna, Ghirahim, Demise, and Zant, they'd get even more money just for that. Seems smart to me, why should every character be different? I just want to see my favorite characters in another game, y'know? let me have fun, nintendo!
Hunter McDaniel Well sure they could do that, but even so they have to be selective because we already have 40 chars so far in the roster and they aren't just going to add a bunch of chars from one franchise because it has to be somewhat balanced. I mean think about it this way: Do you really want to have to go through Classic, Adventure, and Boss Battles repeatedly with 80+ chars? That gets REALLY old afterawhile... Other than that though, I totally get what you are saying. I just want a bunch of mindless clones, that kinda defeats the purpose. Oh and BTW Midna is a confirmed assist trophy.
well, I hear they may not even be doing an adventure mode this time. IDK, but it is a strong possibility they won't, so why not have the largest choice of avatars possibles? Even if some have the same moveset (I'm looking at you Fox, Falco, Wolf...)
Heh, funny how you said no Mario characters and yet Rosalina showed, frankly she is a great representative for the Galaxy series considering Brawl just flat out ignored everything about it
If Layton's not in the next Smash, I'll cry, he's an excellent fencer, his intro could be receiving a letter invitation to join the roster... Luke: "Are you going to go Professor?" Layton: "But of course. A true gentleman, would never turn down an invitation to partake in a contest, and it will be an excellent opportunity to brush up on my fencing." Hence he arrives with a sword, and his final smash would no doubt be the slot-machine gun, or something puzzle based. And they could add Don Paolo or Descole as well!
Layton? YES! Please! The series does have its fighting cut scenes where Layton shows he is an excellent fencer and is highly acrobatic. And a hat throwing thing would be awesome.... as long as it comes back to rest perfectly on his head like an awesome boomerang. Maybe grab some of the neat things you acquire in your trunk throughout the games. Luke could also do this and utilize his animal friends, and of course the obvious Emmy with her punching and kicking.... and even a camera flash stun? While 3 characters from out of left field is unlikely and if anything it will just be Layton himself, it could be done. Layton would be perfect for this game, although unlikely (sadly). Assist trophies are a must, however.
My list of 5 characters that I want, AND have a realistic chance of getting in, and I think will get in are as follows. 5. Girahim RabbidLuigi explained the reasoning. 4. Chrom, from Fire Emblem Awakening Since Melee, they've added a new FE character from the latest game along with Marth. Since I don't see Ike making a return, Chrom would be an obvious choice. 3. Dixie Kong Since Donkey Kong Country has another sequel out, she has a good chance of getting in, on top of the fact that her move set could be so creative, and unique, but at the same time, similar to Diddy's. 2. Bowser Jr. His only game coming out soon or has came out recently, is Mario Kart 8, but I think he has a good chance because of his Brush from Sunshine, cause he could have an AMAZINGLY unique moveset. 1. Pac-Man I know people have hashed on this before, but since Namco-Bandai is working with Nintendo for the next game, at least one or two characters from their company are for sure getting in, since they are only in it for the promotion and money. Why not Pac-Man? He hasn't really been recognized in the past years, and his moveset would be very easy to take STRAIGHT from the Pac-Man platformers on the PS2.
Well, Will Dillon was recently confirmed...*as an Assist Trophy* At least it's something...Maybe if he gains more popularity and releases more games, we'll see him playable in SSB5
Matt Cusson You mean the Villager right? I thought he got only in, because of all the character requests there were some among them that the creator let in and also chose other that no one aksed for like him. Did I get that wrong?
Yeah you got that wrong I was talking about the video and his top ten. He says he kept it realistic but then starts with no.10 being a lesser known Natsune character.Farmer from Harvest Moon and Professor Layton have no chance. Rayman might, or maybe Natsune and Level 5 will get complimentary trophies like Rayman did, but I still doubt it.
Matt Cusson Ah, thats what you meant. Realistic is just an unspecific term. Everyone define it how they want and sometimes you even have an agreement. Thats about it.
Dillon and Ghirahim did make it in the game as assist trophies at least so I guess we should be thankful for that. We also got Little Mac too, who was way overdue IMO. I'm actually quite pleased with the characters roster in Smash 4 all in all. Though it would have been nice to see some other characters too like Krystal, Shantae, and maybe somebody from Sin & Punishment and Wonderful 101. It's awesome that we gt Mega Man, Pac-Man, Palutena, Rosalina, and Shulk as well.
I still say you could've changed out the Farmer with someone from the new Fire Emblem game, but other than that, this list was pretty frickin' good. (I want Chrom so bad)
Professor Layton would be the best choice of all, and if more female characters were needs they could've used Emmy instead. I SERIOUSLY wish that more P.L are going to be made (only if done properly). There are so many possibilities for Layton as a character.
The WubMeister Layton actually has melee skills and uses his fencing techniques to fend off large groups of foes in every installment, not to mention he's capable of inventing fantastic items in a manner of minutes out of household objects. The man made a machine gun out of a slot machine while hiding from gunfire at a casino. Phoenix Wright is quite possibly the least aggressive character I can think of. Even Villager is far, far more dangerous even within the canon games. Phoenix Wright once kicked in a door I believe. That's about it. I just don't see how you can make a move set out of that which isn't dumb. You heard me MVSC3 fans.
yes starfox hasn't had a new installment since the gamecube, BUT kid icarus hadn't had a new installment before brawl since the NES, so you can't say that, and I personally would rather have falco removed for crystal, at least wolf is different from fox, falco is almost an exact replica
Actually, StarFox hasn't had a new installment since the Nintendo DS, with StarFox Command..though a remake of 64 appeared on 3DS. I'd actually rather have Wolf removed because he both plays and looks similar to Fox. I'd rather have Nintendo / Namco include alternate costumes that change 1 character into another, right down to name and voice, akin to what Namco did with Kuma & Panda in various Tekken titles. Then Wolf, and others, could appear without taking up a slot.
Deva Ashera wolf plays nothing like fox, his gun is stronger, his side B is at an up angle in contrast to fox's straight sideways, falco is more of an exact replica of fox, their recovery is exactly the same, their gun is the same, their side B is exactly the same, the only difference with their B attacks is their shield attacks, I don't see that many similarities for wolf
Actually, it did. There was a Kid Icarus game on the Game Boy. However, the fact that you don't know about it serves as further testament to just how unremarkable it was XD. Also, the way Nintendo operates, if a character needs to get removed, least important goes first. Since Falco is slightly more memorable (though I do agree he's mostly a clone while wolf is fairly different), he's prioritized. Hence why Marth is the constant representative of Fire Emblem, with Roy (and likely Ike) being replaced by something relevant at the time. The same can be said by replacing Mewtwo with Lucario, since it was pretty much due to the movies and them alone (you have to admit there's not really a reason to make that particular swap otherwise).
I first started watching this and thought, "Quote better be on here." Needless to say, I was dissapointed. Quote has a wonderful setup to be in the game, and I'm surprised Nintendo hasn't included him yet.
Peyton Bradley The main character of an indie game from 2004 called Cave Story. It's free-to-play on pc, and really cheap for a remake on Steam and around, $14 I think on the 3DS.
Edward Elric Earthworm Jim was a popular game on the Sega Genesis and the SNES. Before he fell into obscurity, he was actually just as big as Sonic or Mario. It's also quite surprising how many people want him Smash Bros 4. Look him up.
Starfy is way to underrated, and Bomberman even though is made by hudson, just look at Sonic and Snake. I think starfy is already confirmed as an assist trophy, but someone from hi game could work i guess, like Starly :P
If we get rid of a Starfox character, let it be Falco, you say WOLF is a carbon copy? The only difference between Falco and Fox are their speeds horizontal and vertical. Also; you forgot King Dedede's boxing ring from Kirby. Which is probably several times more likely of what that ring is based off of, considering they're both PAL. Also; wouldn't Layton's sidekick be more likely? She's shown to have been much more of a fighter, and would break away from this pigeon hole that is the main protagonist cast.
the ring has been confirmed to being from punch-out!! , and no, layton's sidekick isnt more likely, they always go with the main character of a series first
I did read your whole comment, you said layton's sidekick would break away from the main protagonist cast, which she would, but thats exactly what makes her unlikely
Lack of a move set, lack of importance(no, Majora's Mask is not as significative to the Zelda series as it's die hard fans make it to be) and over saturation of a single roster (a problem they already have with Mario). There are slim chances any other Zelda character may got in, but I doubt it's going to be the Skullkid.
Alastair r-r Internet is filled with idiots that truly would ignore any kind of logic or common snese and indeed love such an irrational idea. Sarcasm is harder to read depending of the context(in this case it's really hard because some people have an unbearable bias towards Majora's Mask)
As much as I'd love to see him in, I don't think Indie games stand a chance. Since they rejected meat boy. That and the kids actions would be announced by the narrator, who would be unheard in-game due tot he battle noise, or become annoying because of so much noise going on; like a ressetti. Looking into possible classic games... *Maybe Castlevania's* Simon? Or someone from that genre? Equipped with multi-directional whip and throwing daggers, holy water, etc..
spongehead93 Why not, aside from being from an indie game, he has a great potential, an arsenal of weapons, not to mention the epic narrator who could e.g. speak during some attacks.
Mad Sheep Not trying to start an argument, so I apologize if it seems like I am. But if you think about it, Phoenix Wright doesn't look like much of a fighter, but he's in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3.
Yesterday's character announcement made me so happy, not because of Lucina and Robin, as I've never played Awakening, but because they violate the one-time character rule! Now Girahim still has a chance
You have to remember what the general image of Vaati is (established by Four Swords and Four Swords Adventures) vs what the required version would be for a Smash Bros game (the one in Minish Cap). And with Vaati never transitioning into the Wind Mage form directly in-game, it might be hard to justify it as a Final Smash. I fully agree, he'd be cool to have, the Minish Cap version of him was pretty cool, but making him would just be somewhat difficult. That and there is a priority system, we already got told not all of the characters from brawl would make the cut.
No, I want him too, but I think instead of him Ghirahim will be added, because they seem similiar to most people and he is newer.. that sucks, Vaati is way cooler, I am waiting for this since the announcement of brawl D:
this video was essentially a crystal ball. you pretty much hit the nail on the head in almost all aspects of little mac. he's a character, he does fast punch combo attacks, and he fights in the boxing ring stage. though I got to say, i was not expecting him to become the hulk in his final smash.
This is what I don't get. Mario, Zelda, Star Fox, Pokemon, and Kirby all have 3 or more representatives. Fire Emblem sells better than some of these, yet people treat it like it can only have 2 at the most. Why???
But that's in America...Fire Emblem has seen success in other countries, and since Smash Bros. is made in the country where Fire Emblem shines brightest (it's one of the all-time best-selling RPG series in Japan), I don't really think the creators would consider popularity to really be that much of an issue to them. Also, even if America were the only country where a game series' sales mattered, there's good chance that Fire Emblem's outsold *at the very least* Star Fox (which has 3 reps in Smash), and maybe even Kirby (this probably isn't the case, but either way Kirby has 3 reps as well in Smash).
Fire emblem does amazing in Japan, but not so hot anywhere else. In fact if FE:Awakening did not sell more than 250,000 copies in total the series would have been canceled. So sales do matter to them, but because of Awakenings success I believe they may be able to have another FE character. Though I doubt there will be, which is why I stated to make room for Chrom with the exclusion of Ike.
This is only the second video of yours I've seen, but I'm subscribing already. And I'd like to say a few things about this list. For one thing, I fully agree with Travis. Ever since I played No More Heroes for the first time, I thought he'd be perfect for a fighting game. In Smash, he could be like a more agile Link without all the extra equipment. Neutral special could be a charge attack like with the Tsubaki MK 3, Side Special could be a fire ball, and his Final Smash could be the tiger from NMH2. Plus they added Solid Snake who's also from a very mature game, so I doubt Travis would be too much of a stretch. And as I'm sure you know, Little Mac has been confirmed. I figure they were just testing the waters a bit with him being an Assist Trophy and seeing how fans would react. I'm glad he made it into Smash 4, and I can't wait to play as him. You were also dead on in comparing Layton to Phoenix Wright, I've never played a Layton game, but he looks like he'd fit in nicely with the other odd ball characters for this game. And as for Ridley, as much as it bugs me to admit, I fear he may be an Assist Trophy in Smash 4. But if he is playable, his Final Smash could easily be Meta Ridley. It could also really help promote the Metroid series. It has a huge fanbase who'd love to see a game on the Wii U. I don't have much else to say about your other picks,(aside from Black Shadow who I'd think would be an awesome fit for the Smash series) as I haven't played some of the games they came from, but Dillon's Rolling Western has really peaked my interest, and I would love to see this series get more attention from Nintendo. Sorry this came out so long, but please, keep up the excellent work with your videos.
I have seen your videos around and wasn't sure if I wanted to watch or not. So I chose this one for giggles. Looooove your picks, great reasoning behind them and love your accent hahah~ anyways great list I am gonna check out your other videos! You got a new sub!~
This is surprisingly accurate, even if its just your opinion. Little Mac confirmed for a playable character, Dillon confirmed as an assist trophy, and Ridley borderline confirmed as a stage hazard.
Now that you mention it, I really want to see Professor Layton on the roster. Also, congrats on Little Mac. I totally agree with the Ghirahim idea too.
There's one idea that I have. In Fire Emblem Awakening, you customize your own avatar that's original name is Robin (male or female). So why not, instead of adding Chrom, add "Robin" in the game. He could use sword attacks for his normal attacks and smash attacks, but use magic like fire, thunder, and wind for his special attacks. His up-B can be using wind to launch himself upwards. Also, to satisfy for more female characters, you could choose the male or female avatar. His final Smash, easy, have him use a "Master Seal" and rank up to a grandmaster, making him slightly faster, stronger, and lasts until he dies. He plays as normal, and can still be injured, but hopefully you get some kills in the meantime. Thank you anyone who read this, and great video as always, Rabbid!
What I would love to see in the SSB series: •Isaac and Saturos as opposing playable characters •Remixes for music would be the first games battle theme, Saturos's fight theme, the Lost Age's boss theme, Venus Lighthouse's theme, the Non-Adpet's battle theme, and maybe even the Open Sea battle theme. •Stages for these two could feature the storm on Vale (before the first game begins, where you first fight Stauros and Menardi), the top of Venus Lighthouse, aboard the flying ship (can go from sea to air), and maybe even the Elemental Star Room inside Mt. Aleph. The Venus lighthouse stage could maybe change (like in castle seige from SSBB) to the other elemental lighthouses, each with a special effect. That'd be more than enough for me to go buy a Wii U.
I agreed completely with Dillon. I shouted YES when I saw him come up. Nintendo has been loving that IP on the 3DS and his inclusion would make a ton of sense.
I agree with the Wolf swap-out for a character like krystal in the Super smash series, Wolf was certainly one of those characters like Mewtwo from the previous SSB games that was swapped out for Lucario in the next games, however I do feel as though Nintendo want to kind of get characters that aren't really expected considering the Little Mac and Wii fit trainer characters announced for the new game, still, they haven't announced any other characters from the Starfox series other than Fox himself so it may not be quite a surprise to see her come along.
I practically jumped out of my chair when I saw Ness was back. So glad the guy made it in, he's a vet and deserves his place. Shouldn't be taken by crappy fire emblem clones
Professer Layton? I know who he is. He is the guy whos new years resolution was to grow a beard and become the best Abe Lincoln impersonator. Honestly, i think that was so random, i have to like your videos.
Well, I most certainly didn't expect Layton to be your #1. Don't get me wrong, I'm quite a big fan of the Layton franchise, and adding him would be extremely epic in my opinion, but I just have a hard time to imagine it actually happening.
Ok, my pal and I would both agree on your #1 choice with Layton. My pal's the Layton Gamer while I'm mainly Ace Attorney, but boy, would adding Layton promote the Crossover and any upcoming Layton games!
WELP, my heart has been stabbed, Dillon was just confirmed an Assist Trophy, though in this sadness im glad they even acknowledged him and gave him a nice clean model and significate enough to be an Assist Trophy.
Wasn't expecting Prof Layton at the top, but I love the idea! Personally though, I think Isaac from Golden Sun would be a great addition and Lloyd from Tales of Symphonia has a great chance of inclusion with Namco's collaboration (and would make an awesome addition anyway).
I like this list. I also like that you didn't add Waluigi, who in my opinion isn't taken seriously at all by Nintendo and is only included in spin-off Nintendo games. Honestly I don't know why people want him in Smash Bros so bad...
I would fucking LOVE Ridley as a playable character. Pretty much all they would need to do is scale his size down and give him a final smash. His final smash would be he grows in size and wreaks havoc on the stage. Done.
Considering that they put Snake from the Metal Gear series into the super Smash Bros. games, makes the idea that having Travis Touchdown in the next game may not be so far fetched.
The minute I heard the music for number 1, I agreed with you fully! Professor Layton would have made a good character for Super Smash Bros. 4. His final smash could have involved him pointing at the "culprit." XD Lol!
