Noto Peninsula in the north-eastern end of Ishikawa Prefecture is home to one of the best coastal drives of Kanazawa, right by the sea of Japan.
The coastline of the Noto Peninsula has been given small status to being identified as Japan's national parks with each sections of the coast are marked various beaches, camping spots and as well as outdoor exhibitions.
From driving along the sands of Chirihama Beach, chilling at cafes in Wajima, seeing the rice terraces around Shiroyone and then making a stop by the battlefield Islands, we highly recommend a two day trip to give Noto Peninsula of Ishikawa Prefecture justice on your next trip to Japan.
On this Japan Travel Guide, we explored Noto Peninsula by car and gave us an entire day to day trip only the northern section of this beautiful place and if given another opportunity, we would visit again to see the southern end of it.

Love love LOVE Kanazawa! I go there often because my close friends not only live there, but I also have a couple of projects from the Ishikawa Government. I would personally however, split this journey over two days rather than the one; the size of the peninsula was definitely a lot bigger than anticipated.

@@theglobalcitizenship It's an amazing place to visit! The in-laws live a few minutes away from Kenroku-en. Started 2022 with a lovely and snowy walk around. Just stunning! Hoping to cycle all the way around Noto Hanto one of these days. Good luck with the projects!

If you have the time, I would highly suggest staying at least a night in the area and doing this over two days because when we were filming this, we didn't get the chance to explore the other end of the Peninsula as it was dark! It was definitely a lot bigger than anticipated.

@@theglobalcitizenship I’m taking your good advice! Picking up the rental car in Toyama to start the journey, then going north and spending the night in Nanao, then spending another night in Suzu. Then going down the western side of the peninsula so I guess I will be doing your route from the other side haha! This is my third time in Japan and this trip I want to explore the more rural areas and enjoy peaceful authentic travel. Thank you for making such an amazing video to give me the confidence to do so. @juliatang9091 > How exciting! Toyama is the bomb but please be careful. If I read carefully, you're coming here next week and usually at this time, the snows are abundant so if you've not had experience in driving in the snow, I best suggest to read on advice on not just how to drive in such conditions but moreso as to how to open your car when the doors are frozen and how to navigate through slippery roads (We learnt this hard way back in Hokkaido last year 2022).

I was driving with my friends and realise, there is no way we could have done this within a day without a car. If you do have that luxury, please share your pictures! If you don't, I would just stay in the Nanao or the Noto Island area where everything has a train or a bus connected to it!

The beach,the caves,married rocks, totoro rock,rice terraces,lighthouse and mitsukejima was all amazing place to travel.That drone shots was excellent.

The places that are covered by train are on the Southern end of Noto Peninsula. Those who are fortunate to get an International Driver's Licence would find value in this guide. There are other guides that might be able to explore the avenue of trains (though there is only one that services this area) that might be of value to yourself and others who do not have that option. I appreciate you coming to this guide despite it not being released. Stay safe in the meanwhile during this time.
