It was the first coaster to break the 120mph and 420 feet barriers. Even though this Intamin launcher is now over 7 years old, it shows no signs of letting up & remains one of the most exciting rides on the planet. Watch in high quality.
I’m SO GLAD someone posted this! I’ve been on it several times years ago but out here now in Colorado, had no other way of showing my kids this amazing ride!! Thank you for posting!
Waiting in line: This is the best decision ever. Your next in line: This is the best decision ever. On the ride looking up before it takes off: this is the worst decision ever.
I went on those two years ago and let me tell you I was so petrified it takes off so fast and that big hill it goes down it is intense it's like a 20 second ride but let me tell you the adrenaline afterwards was awesome. Oh and waiting for the light to turn green to go was like torture
I rode this once in October of 2019 and it is probably the most memorable roller coaster I’ve ever ridden. I hope the modifications being made to the ride are successful, and I hope it makes the ride safer than ever.
Got 2 front row rides last summer just a week or two before the incident. So glad I got this credit. It broke down 4 times while waiting for it. 2 hours of waiting WITH flash passes. Crazy. Worth it though.
The first time I rode was in 2006. It had rained some on and off. After we were strapped in the worker with the mic told us we may not make it over the hill due to the track being wet. My 13 year old self about had a heart attack 😂 thankfully we made it over. I remember the opening year, we stood watching for a good while. The reaction from riders were the best. TTD will be missed but I’m interested to see what changes cedar fair decides to make.
It ain’t going anywhere, it’s just getting some new features. As for that whole not making it up thing, we call that a “rollback”. They’re rare but fun. You’re not gonna crash, these coasters are designed with failsafes in case it doesn’t make the hill. They’re fun as you get to feel all the force of the launch, but in reverse.
Ahhh I see you all have been waiting to post this 👀 lmao, I really hope the ride is “re-imagined” and not completely taken down. it’s up high on my bucket list of coasters
@@ryandg2008 ttd is still better honestly. Much smoother especially since the launch track is so much lower to the ground. They are hardly different in terms of vertical drop. Also more comfortable restraints on ttd.
Depending on what they retheme it to, I'm gonna miss the engine sounds plus squealing tires at the launch. Maybe also the launch intensity if I even notice. Looks like I'll only ever get to experience this ride the one time.
Hold off on the red alert, people, it's being modified and NOT removed -- what's resting in peace is the hydraulic launch system (and some other things I don't know about), it'll reopen, just modified according to guidelines that are YET to be determined! Stay tuned! :)
I wish I could take my granddaughter for a ride on TTD!!! Last time I rode it was in 2005 when I was a mere “child” (Grandmother) @ 53... I’d ride that dang coaster today... Waiting to be able to be in the front car was worth every second of every minute of every hour!!! Yup!!! I’m still a mere child @ 70!!! 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
You said in the description that the intamin launcher showed “no signs of letting up”, but you must not have gone to cedar point much because in the last 7 years there have been multiple signs of it letting up. The ride has been closed 75% of the time I’ve visited in the past 7 years and we go twice a year.
I'm gonna miss this ride. Hearing that is it permanently closed made me wish I went on it when I went to Cedar Point for my only first time in 2016. 😢My cousin and dad went on it but I was too chicken at the time but now I wish I did.
For those who do not know it’s a 120 mph- up 420 ft.. you literally can’t breathe. But your heart is racing so fast and the spiral down is because the g force is so powerful they couldn’t construct it any other way. I believe China has built a taller rollercoaster now, but it’s not as fast..
I rode this ride 5 times in a row when we came up on this amusement park on accident when moving to Canada lol mom and dad did it cause we had been on the road for three days moving with two uhails and me and my three brothers and we needed some fun and a break best ride in my childhood
First one to comment since top thrill 2 was announced. Everyone is wondering how they’re going to load the coaster and still maintain capacity, it is still going to run exactly like this. The second train is already being held behind the zone that is going to halt rear-movement of the train.
If I were a play-by-play drag race announcer and I were in that coaster ride, here it is - "And there it rockets away....the Top Thrill set of cars in front of our cars, down the coaster dragstrip, as it shoots up into the 420 arch and down again. You think the cars blasting away from us was some burnout...." "Now, here is our chance, our series of Top Thrill dragster cars. Our cars go about 3 mph into the staging area, and we coast to a stop, and we will only just wait. Once those staging lights turn green, we will be on extremely high adrenaline--NO TURNING BACK!" "Here are the top lights, get ready riders, for the quarter-mile style coaster of your life! AND AWAY WE GO!!! --we ROCKET AWAY....we go to the first vert up, shooting off like a rocket to the 420 foot mark, and now the curve, and now, the TOUGH PART---as we face the second vert down - we start the descent and OOOOOH the surprise bank mid-drop, and finally we straighten as the descent leads to the straightaway.....AND WE SEE THE FINISH LINE....and that's it! The ride is over! ET is 16.8 seconds, with a maximum speed of 120 mph! All of you probably want to be dragster drivers someday--and with Top Thrill....you got your helluva drag-racing simulation!"
You must have got a good launch because you flew over the top hat. When I rode it we just barely crawled over it and were close to getting a roll back.
Glad I rode this back in 2019! What I didn't expect was that it closed down. I know they did this to prevent any more accidents on it (from a piece of metal falling off and bonking someone on the head, for example, which happened to cause its closedown), but I feel sad it's gone now. Well, at least I rode it once, but farewell, Top Thrill Dragster...
True story the first time I was in line for this ride in 2009 I started to swear profusely and we in line right behind these cute girls and my friend just laughed and laughed and laughed and I literally couldn’t stop sweating and boy when that thing launched that air on my face and body felt so good. Went right back in line and said we doin it again. Haven’t been back since then.
I never rode Top Thrill Dragster. Every time I went to Cedar Point during the ride's lifetime it was either closed for repair, or the wait time was 3+ hours even with a fast pass. I hope they replace it with an actual roller coaster.
YO YA ME SUBI Y NO SIENTE NADA !!!!! SE LAS RECOMIENDO YO ME SUBI Y TENIA SOLO 12 AÑOS NO SE SIENTE NADA SUBANSE NO SEAS MIEDOSOS 1!!!!!!!!! XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD
