Having run many trail miles on several versions of the Lone Peak, and now having run many road miles on both the Cyclone 2 and Phantom 3, I see myself leaning towards Topo for future trail miles. Thanks, Jay.
I walk my dog on mixed terrain. Paved or gravel roads. Grassy fields and single tracks. MT5 would work well for this application. Thanks for the overview!
Great review! I was using my Terraventure 4 in GA to do trail runs and those trails are like 95%+ trails with minimal paved roads. When I took them out to do a new trail run in Minnesota, oh boy, the trail was 60-70% road and I wished I had a higher cushion and less aggressive grip.
Yes, love my Terraventures, but I think the MT-5's or Ultra venture 3's are a bit better if you will have a fair amount of road. Thank you for watching!
Topos usually fit me well, but this shoe was too narrow even though I sized up. Not in the forefoot, but in the anterior medial midfoot. The ball of my foot, the base joint of my first toe really, just overlaps the sole and starts to hurt after 500 meters. Loving my Cyclone 2, no such problem there. Altras neither. Never had this with any other shoe, really, not even "normal" road or traul shoes.

@@TheOldUltraRunner THanks for asking, unfortunately no. My first test run was too short to realize the problem, I guess my prior great experience with Cyclone 2 clouded my judgment and made me uncritical. I ended up taking them on a long, muddy, painful hike next, so returning them isn't a viable option anymore. I guess I'll experiment with aftermarket insoles and thick socks before donating them. I'm wondering now if my eagerly awaited Specter 2 will be Cyclone-shaped or MT5-shaped... Here's to hoping. I'm sneaking around purchasing Nnormal Kjerags at this poipnt, they're somewhat wide in the toebox and have "only" 6mm drop. Love your channel and its vibe btw. Regards from Berlin
