Welcome back to the channel guys, how are you all doing? Here in the UK we're in week two of lockdown due to Coronavirus (Covid-19). I've literally not been anywhere for ten days. Things are getting stranger by the day don't you think? For obvious reasons the frequency of my uploads to this channel and the content within them will change for the foreseeable. I will be uploading to the channel, however the ability to work in properties on site has been put on hold while we all stay home.

Thanks James for calling a torch a torch. 'Flashlight' winds me right up! If I wanted a flashing light I'd go to a disco... Edit: It's not illegal to work, James. If you are keeping vulnerable people connected to the grid, that's clearly an essential service. I have been called to 3 sites this past week to connect homeworkers to their work servers, two of which work in healthcare, minimum 2mtr distance maintained, BigClive's BAC50 recipe for hand sanitiser in my bag, it's all good.

I have the older Slyde (without the red disco effects) and it's great. I use rechargeable AAA's in it. With my Big Larry and Unilite though, I find that using rechargeables doesn't work and the brightness starts to decay very quickly. I presume that's because the alkaline batteries are 1.5V while the Ni-Mh rechargeables are 1.2V, so unless the batteries are freshly charged, they lack the wallop for these torches to operate properly. Although recently changing to Makita kit, I'm still using my big Ryobi LED tower of power for attics, cellars and dungeons. You can never have too many torches.

True David, I probably have over 20 torches around the estate but the ones I use in my workplace have to cut the mustard and be good boys or they'll be thrashed and left in a loft or under a floor. I've been under a few floors where the batteries have gone and kicked myself for not having charged it up or had a back up in my pocket. I guess there's always our phones nowadays but who wants to be using a £1000 mobile in place of a £30 fully charged unilite? Stay safe in the RBB 😎👍.

And on todays show, Ethics and Contraception and it's place in the electrical world. Which should worry you all because if JBE is touching on that subject, David Savery will no doubt give a practical demonstration of how to correctly use the pull out technique, DSS will have already done a video of it probably in a garden involving wifi lights and Nick Bundy will have a new tool bag to somehow assist with it. Nice review with humor as well, bonus. Hope you get back to work soon. I would start with looking into PPE suits, masks and other cleaning if things get financially tight and you have to work. Hopefully, once the few weeks of isolation are over it should reduce your risks. I would prioritize jobs in empty properties that helps with isolation for you and others. Good luck from Virginia US.

@@JBE the updated version of yours is the DML801, it's what I use most. Same body and hook at the top, but LEDs all round so no dark side (unless you click it twice for forward light only so you don't dazzle yourself). Still got my old one (same as yours) about as a backup or additional light for working in a larger space, but got the new one because I somehow lost old one in a clients house (no idea how, somebody must have moved it!), and found it again about a year later when I went to look at another job there!

Did you know that on the Slide, if you press and hold the button it will dim smoothly down and do it again it will slowly brighten up, quick on/off full brightness (all modes). Apart from the Slide I use a generic Li-Ion head torch (and at least 6x18650 cells in the toolbox (quicker to change cells than recharge torch), but my lifesaver is an old Nightsearcher workstar (over 10 years old) doubled the capacity when I built a new battery pack a few years ago and can get over 8 hours per charge now, it doesn't dim as battery discharges just flashes a red led on the back to tell you have about half an hour left. Also I quite often mount the workstar on a tripod as an area light!

your right on what you say, but this virus will be here for a long time, just look at Tom Nagy`s latest video, the street he filmed in london was like a normal day, but only the essential shops were open, a florist and phone shop which was good to see. I have only just invested in a head torch after much searching went for a led lenser, not the cheapest, but didnt want to go for an ebay cheap china special, plus it came with a 7 year warranty, and i must say battery life is excellent as well as build quality and light output.
