This video is from a Tori Amos videos site and since the owner wants all people to see this, I decided to put it up here so other Toriphiles and non-Toriphiles would be able to enjoy it too. ^_^
this song was performed at my wife's funeral earlier this year.i lost her at the age of 29. she died with my baby sister in a plane crash. tori's music was a bond she and i shared. we traveled thousands of combined miles to see her in concert. standing in that church holding my two sons, as my oldest sister flawlessly sang, " is your place in heaven worth giving up these kisses?" well that is a moment in time i will never forget. thank you tori for writing such a powerful song......
I’m so sorry to hear that! Tori’s song Carry and her cover of Over the Rainbow I picked for my grandmother’s funeral. Tori’s music says it all sometimes while still having more to say when you have experienced more life first. 💜🌙🪐🌈
Twenty plus years of listening to Tori and I still love how this song makes me feel like I am hearing it for the first time. Tough guys can love Tori's music too. But this is also one of my favorite songs ever, not just by Tori. Who hasn't wondered if their lover thinks that there is some other heaven (little "h") somewhere that is worth giving up these kisses?
There is no artist like her period. even the few they try to throw in a similar style dont even hold a candle. The tone, passion, piano, feeling, emotion will never be replicated. Heck even the facial looks and movements are enrapturing. Simply a Goddess at this style of music. Will never be touched. I am in awe
That part always brings me to tears. I've been listening to Tori for 17 years now and she's still my absolute favorite artist. No one else has come near her brilliance to me.
If you haven't seen her live, you have to, and get as close to her as possible. Some bands/artists it doesn't matter, but it does with her, especially when she looks at you when she's singing.
It definitely doesn't seem like it's been that long but I was in the 10th grade when I discovered her and that WAS a long time ago. lol I'm 32 now. I just remember how excited I was to find her and how addicted I was to her right from the start. I wish I could still discover other artists like that now but sadly nothing comes close.
Tori, your songs are pieces of art. Remind me of those golden chocolat boxs: You eat one and think that no one candy can't be more delicious than that... until you start to eat the next one!
"This ocean is wrapped around that pineapple tree" has got to be the most beautiful and soul wrenching line that Tori has ever wrote in my opinion. Absolute genius with the use of metaphor is she.
The first time I heard her, I was shocked. She has such a beautiful voice. A friend bought me her book. It was great. I love Tori. It's a shame she never comes down here to Mexico, on tour. =)
¡Thank you for sharing this! I'm spanish and here, in Spain, We are not lucky having such spectacular show of Tori. Very good music, piano and voice. All the songs of Tori are beautiful, but I dare to say THIS SONG is the most "hermosa". Tori, sigue así, no cambies nunca.
I love Tori and this song wasn't in my top five. Not until now that is... thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I simply am calmed by her and her incredible electric talent. Luv Luv
Every once in a while this shallow world surprises us with depth...Thankyou tori, so many of us are sincerely touched by such wonderful lyrics and your angelic voice....love you
A truly beautiful song, performed by the best and most beautiful singer!! Never felt so many goosebumps! My fave song of hers besides "Snow Cherries from France"
Agreed. I love "these kisses" the first time I heard the third time she sings it, I thought she was singing "Viennese kisses" and somehow it seemed to fit the song.
Oh my gosh! I remember waiting and waiting for this to come on PBS... and I kept thinking that I missed it! And I was just about to go to bed, but I checked for it ONE MORE TIME, and there it was. I don't know what happened, maybe I got the time wrong... but I'm so glad I caught this performance! She is just beautiful!
This is still one of my all-time favorite Tori songs... It's such a perfect, beautiful piece. My favorite lyric is this: So then Love walked up to Like; said "I know that you don't like me much, but let's go for a ride".
LOVE this song -- I can't imagine it ever being recorded in studio; Tori made the right choice in respecting "Cooling's" wishes (Those who've listened to "Live, Still Orbiting" know what I'm talking about ;) )
If we could only have more song writers and or prodigys from "three years old" maybe the music today would have the substance to last at least the next decade. Can you imagine a generation or centuries? think about it.
You may have heard this already, but the original studio version is on the Spark single with Do It Again. You can probably find it on Amazon, or maybe in the store....
wow. this right here. this sad and heart-melting sadness is why Tori is who she is. Bless you in your beliefs, and I hope you are doing well. much love, bro.
Our Bullmastiff mix Yolanda "Yolie" Vega passed away last night. It's difficult to cope bit Cooling is a security blanket for me this morning. "And is your place in heaven worth giving up these kisses".... Your Daddy's love you very much 'Ol girl....Who's on the bed???
@0430daniel1976 i appreciate your kind words. a song as profound as this may well mean as much to you as it does to me. i love the ambiguity of her lyrics. the way a song of hers can mean many things to many people. jacky (wife) and i spent countless hours discussing the implications of her lyrics. some of the deepest conversations we ever had, were sparked by tori's music. my youngest child was conceived to scarlett's walk, pretty sure "crazy" did the trick. lotta love made to her music.......
here's a ?: who was tori in her past life? i wish jon lennon could have had a child with tori amos. what a song writer that child would've been. i discovered tori as a teenager. she has been riveting me for 20 years. across all that time and life experience, from selfish puppy love to motherhood and all the aching exhausting selfless love it brings, tori stands alone in being able to transport me back to the core of myself, the unchanging person i was born to be. she reminds me.
