'Tear in your hand' is one of the finest songs that I have ever heard. I bet it's relatively underrated from the album because it's not quite as raw or fraught sounding as some other songs on there. The hurt of the lyrics contrasted with the sweetness of the tune. 'I don't believe you're leaving cos me and Charles Manson like the same ice cream' is a brilliant line.
She is A BAD ASSED CHICK SINGER. IVE ALWAYS BEEN A HUGE TORI FAN MY ABSOLUTE. FAVE SINGER 🍀🌸🌸🌹🌹🌹🌹👑🌠🌠🌠😘😘😍😍🌺🌺🌲⭐⭐🌠🌛🌈🌈💝🎆🎇🎊🎉🔆😇😇😎😸🔥🔥👄👄👄👄✨🌟💥💫💢✌👊👍👍👏👏👏💅👠👠👠💄💄👑👑❤💚💙💛💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💘💘💞💖💕💓👣
Tori is one of the few REAL artists left on this earth today. She makes me believe that this cruel, cold world can be also magical and beautiful. She brings happiness and hope. Tori, you are out Angel. We love you.
this song is so fucking important to me. "all the world is / all i am / the black of the blackest ocean..." i am vast. i contain multitudes. i am so much more than sorrow, so much more than self-doubt, so much more than the feelings she never returned. i am going to be okay.
She is such a Goddess!! It leaves me speechless at this moment in my life. "Caught a ride with the moon I know I know you well Well, better than I used to Haze all clouded up my mind In the daze of the why it couldve ever been So you say and I say you know youre full of wish And your baby baby baby babies I tell you theres peices of me youve never seen Maybe shes just pieces of me youve never seen, well All the world is All I am The black of the blackest ocean And that tear in your hand"
Profoundly one of the best song writers and performers next to Joni Mitchell. I love Tori! I can't make it through this album, Little Earthquakes without crying. Amazing! Glad you guys enjoy it!!!!
Tori is just amazing. From 1992 - 2009 she has made 11 fabulous albums. Just imagine where she'll take us in the new decade. The Light Princess here we come!
She makes me feel stupid for never learning the piano.. Stunning artist, and a whole lot of heart in that music. I wish I had gotten more into her music earlier. She's wonderful. :)
This is my favorite tori song from Little Earthquakes ~ so powerful ~ has anyone here had a breakup so devastating to your soul that it sent you to - "the BLACK of the BLACKEST OCEANS" xo
god its so nice to see that there actually is intelectual music in the usa..its easy to forget with all these pop music and hip hop and commercial rock bands...its a miracle that a true artist can be famous in this day and age
Hands down the best Tori song ever. I've thought that since my days in middle school listening to it over and over on a tape deck. It took me 15 years to truly know how it feels to be a tear in someone's hand. Take it back. It is the black of the blackest ocean.
I love her too. She's unique. I don't think there is nothing wrong about listening this kind of music. I don't think we are made of stone. To be in touch with your feelings is part of been human. hello!
This album was a life saver for me in my early 20's.I couldn't stop playing it over and over.Must get it on CD now! Tori is so tallented and unusual and she don't give a damn about it.Love her.
monimarz: Tori still writes FABULOUS songs like this one. She's grown now. She's become a wife, a mother...you'd be amazed at how suddenly the things in your heart TO write change with all of that. The only way we could still have "the same" Tori is if she never grew and changed as a human being and what a travesty that would be. I love THIS Tori AND that Tori...they are BOTH....Tori. The fullness of her entire life is represented, and that...is a gift to US.
Have to agree with the poster befor me. i love all music from thrash metal to classical, and whenever i want to relax and unwind in an evening, its not something like Canibal Corpse i put on, i would say 8 out of 10 times its Tori Amos. She is amazingly talented and has such an unmistakable voice to match what she plays. Real Men listen to Tori and happily tell thier friends they would rather put her CD on than something 'manly' and heavy at the end of the day!
I have to say, I have not been a fan of Tori Amos for the last 15 years - the last year or so, it finally dawned on me how much talent she has. She is fucking amazing.
One thing I love about this video is how into it the audience members are. Beautiful to see the affect she has on others, and to know that I'm not the only one.
Tori is hot....I love that woman, she sings this song flawlessly and adds different keys to make it fresh....I love her performances! She is so beautiful!!!
Oh shit! I wasn't ready to hear this just now. One of my favs that I had to stop listening to because it upset me too much. Oops! Thanks for sharing this incredible version.
@samimiabjeez She helped me get through eight of the toughest, darkest months of my life. Goin through a nasty divorice and he would allow me ZERO contact with our five and ten yr. old daughters.. It was just a way to hurt me,and boy did it,but that is over now thank You my angels teachers and guides Tori for sure included. We actually have daughters the same age and she suffered so much before she had her little girl.Anyway she brings me strength every day when I think of her songs and her life..
I agree with Gallion. You don't have to be gay to listen to Tori, it just shows a man who is sensitive, open minded, and who cares enough to see the female perspective on life!! You go Gallion!! :)
Maybe she just pieces of me you've never seen oh man I listened to this during a breakup It still makes me remember that time . what a great cry song . I wish my boyfriend listened to her .Girls love that Stuff
love it! love it! love it! she's so amzaing! she'll take u into another world, strip u off ur excesses and just be who u are! so freakin' wonderful! love her music!
I have seen Tori seven times and can say i'm sure this is not a playback. Listen to the cd then listen to this. The pace is different, the way she sings it is different. She has the most powerful voice I have ever heard live, and i'm a 34 y.o. male metalhead who came across her by accident. I will follow Tori anywhere. Here's looking forward to concert #8.
The story in this song becomes clear once you can visualize what it is like to have your tear in someone's hand. But if it wasn't for the fantastic piano pushing and grinding/soaring relentlessly or the Amos vocal's here I don't think I would like this tune as much as...I do.
It's not that it was inspired BY him, but by many things Tori was going through at the time with her boyfriend, but what she did do is in the song she decided to include a reference to him, just because Neil Gaiman had become a good friend of hers at that time, and also because his work started to inspire her, as well as Tori's image started to inspire Gaiman for some characters.
