I love that the BB writers were gathered around the table like, “Which musician should we parody?” and one of them was like, “TORI AMOS. ‘ICICLE.’ JAY LENO. 1994.”
I don't care about bobs burgers or whatever. But if you ever watch Tori, she always sings into the mic like that. I've seen her nose and chin get lip gloss on it. Even before this cd and song was created. I love Tori. She's amazing. Way better than the junk passing as music today. Don't quit Tori! The world needs you.
@@picturebookhorrorstories2988 frickin love that woman, she can manage my library anytime she wants, if ya know what I mean. Cause I'm not actually very sure anymore.
Oh it's hot and wet and slick And it's making everybody sick OIL SPILL It's on a fish it's on a crab Sounds so close but you can grab This OIL SPILL ...OIL SPILL.. ...OYILLL... SPIELLL....
This song is not only about her playing her "six string" It's about doing it with a bible as a teenager in the apartment above the church where her father was a Methodist minister giving a sermon. But it's pretty subtle...
Lyrics: Icicle icicle Where are you going Where are you going Icicle icicle Where are you going I have a hiding place When spring marches in Will you keep watch for me I hear them calling Gonna lay down Gonna lay down Greeting the monster in our Easter dresses Father says bow your head like the good book says Well I think the good book is missing some pages Gonna lay down Gonna lay down And when my hand touches myself I can finally rest my head And when they say take of his body I think I'll take from mine instead Getting off Getting off While they're all downstairs Singing prayers Sing away He's in my pumpkin P.J.'s Lay your book on my chest Feel the word Feel the word Feel the word Feel the word Feel the word Feel it I could have I should have I could have flown you know I could have I should have I didn't so Icicle icicle Where are you going I have a hiding place When spring marches in Will you keep watch for me I hear them calling Gonna lay down Gonna lay down Lay down I'm gonna lay down
Oil spiillllllll!!! I listened to under the pink as a child with severe depression after an assault. It honestly kept me from killing myself. Tori is amazing. So are oil spills.
This was my first exposure to Tori. Right after seeing this performance, I bought the CD and was hooked. I then purchased Little Earthquakes and have been a fan ever since.
I love oil spill and bobs burgers. it’s so funny I keep cracking up. But in all honesty I’ve loved her music since I was like 3 haha. I was introduced super early
2009 - Abnormally Attracted to Sin "Shut your mouth, I'm spinning it tight down south" "to get off he cries 'slutty goth'" "Pussy willows, groves, there by the church. Don't go in if you are abnormally attracted to sin" "Time-bomb in his palm a finger-apple augments this advanced shackling" 2014 - Unrepentant Geraldines "You're the one who can make me feel gorgeous with just just a flick of your finger" "I was stabbing my sticks into a vulnerable earth" Just sayin'.
Icicle definitely gives an impressionistic effect, as Tori described the whole of Under The Pink. Ugh why did have to be 5 in 1994. If I could go back in time, the first thing I'd do is tell my mom to take me to every Tori Amos concert.
Lyrics: _Oh, it's hot and wet and slick_ _And it's making everybody sick_ _Oil spill_ _It's on the fish, it's on the crabs_ _It’s oh so close but you can’t grab this_ _Oil spill_ _Oil spill_ _Oil spill…_
Im the opposite: When i saw the Bob's Burgers Tabitha Johansson, i knew instantly it was a Tori Amos reference. Ive been in love with Tori since about 2007 or so 😅
I also know about this from Bob's Burgers, but that's not a bad thing. I'd never listened to Tori Amos before, and now it turns out I actually really like this song
icicle icicle where are you going i have a hiding place when spring marches in will you keep watch for me i hear them calling gonna lay down gonna lay down greeting the monster in our easter dresses father says bow your head like the good book says well i think the good book is missing some pages gonna lay down gonna lay down and when my hand touches myself i can finally rest my head and when they say 'take of his body' i think i'll take from mine instead getting off getting off while they're all downstairs singing prayers sing away he's in my pumpkin p.j.'s lay your book on my chest feel the word feel the word feel the word feel it i could have i should have i could have flown you know i could have i should have i didn't so (your welcome lol)
yeah i know how you feel(i was born in 1989 too) actually one of the reasons i like tori is she reminds me of my childhood, i know i was subcontiously listening to tori when i was younger. her music wouldn't seem so familiar otherwise. the first time i heard Winter as a young teen it was like a blast from the past. her music makes me feel warm and safe. her music is like home to me.
The music matters so much more, I didn't even notice. And you have to remember that this is 14 years ago and we just wore different clothes and makeup back then! Especially Tori - heck, when i saw her in 1994 she had on a BATHING SUIT and bell bottoms :) It was awesome!
Reminds me a lot of some songs on Jewel's first big album (Pieces of You), which is admittedly one of my guilty pleasures. Just has that artsy, haunting quality to it... you know there just _must_ be a terribly sad story behind it.
The emotional shifts in this song! People are commenting about the seggsuality of the song and totally miss the rage, the angst, the warrior all being expressed as she's telling a story about being abused, fighting, and the adults either not knowing or looking to other way. This is such a powerful performance. ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 How did they miss it at the end???🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾🤦🏾♀️
Tori is a truly remarkable artist. But it's quite depressing to think that a performance of such uncompromising depth is almost unheard of today in the sea of utter mediocrity masquerading as musical 'talent'. Very rarely will you encounter someone so gifted that it literally stops you in your tracks, leaving you speechless, and awe inspired. An artist who really makes you think, and changes you. Tori is one a very special few that are capable of this.
