Yes, but the arrangement is not so nice here as it is a very personal song. So, in my opinion it does not fit perfectly into a big hall with orchestra, but the song still remains great.
Granted that Tori by herself and a piano is all is needed. But a backing orchestra has a internal personal perspective felt by the audience that leaves people in a awe of sorts. Emotion in motion that is right as rain.
This song, Winter, is so special to me. I'm the oldest of four daughters. No brothers. In the early and mid 90s Tori was always playing in our house. But this song, reminds me of myself and my sisters. We would always play this one more, louder, and we'd play it on the piano and sing to it. It's also come up in conversation over the years since then. How great a song it is.
Her lyrics crawl into my mind, her music fills my veins and her soul eases my pains, her voice being a soothing balm, whenever she speaks or sings... she is time- and ageless anyway!
Best version (besides album of course) is her performance of Winter on Jay Leno in 1993. Just her her piano and her confidence of delivering the goods. She was 27 then and her beauty as she looked straight into the camera was breathtaking.
Thanks, Montreal is great (apart from the bizarre up-an-octave for a couple of lines) I’ll Google it …fks sake, she goes up an octave for two lines there as well. It’s just bizarre. Does she do it on the album version? No. It breaks the spell. By 2012 she’s realised. Bit late now.
This performance is incredible. There’s a haunting feel to this song. The lyrics and Toris beautiful voice make for a amazing life version of this treasure. Wow!!
Beautiful.. My favorite song by her since the beginning of my time knowing tori. My favorite artist I feel has betrayed her fans though thru this new face she has. Looks so much better the way God naturally made her. Thank god it doesn't affect her perfect voice. God knows I would cry if tht ever were altered..
+Danielle Turnbill How did she betray her fans? If there's any running message in her music, it's the freedom of living your life as you wish. She wanted to get a face lift--that's her choice. She doesn't owe her fans anything when it comes to the way she lives and what makes her happy.
I'll try to find more videos and upload them! I only regained access now to my channel, and was pleasantly surprised by the responses to this video :-)
I will forever & always love Tori. Particularly this song... but there's too much "making love to a metronome"; there's too much raw emotion stripped having to keep constant time w/ a full orchestra. As an artist, it's been wonderful watching her grow over the years... But the 1-girl show, the original cuts/albums will forever & always be the best she's ever put out there.
Unfortunately not, because these ones are the best I have (I have other songs that I would be happy to dropbox or share, but they will not be posted to youtube. contact me and I can share them with you in some way!)
Sorry but the orchestra did not do justice to this. The emotions just were sleerd and slow. No dynamics on the right points. Her original mix and cut is superior to this.
Tori Voice of a Goddess Amos! This performance by all these amazing musicians lead by Tori’s haunting vocals and piano is so good it gave me chills… several times! 😅😅
