"He's struggled to define what a working person is" - no he hasn't. They've been very clear that what they specifically mean is that they're not going to raise income tax, national insurance, or VAT. If those taxes are most of the tax you pay - which they are if you get most of your money from wages - then you are a working person. If you get most of your money from other places - rents, dividends, options grants, capital gains etc - then you are not a working person, you do not pay most of your taxes in those 3, and your tax burden may increase.

Labour should change their name - this question that you bring up here about the 'working class' has been a problem for decades. The paradox is that since Thatcher the so-called 'working class' of this country have increasingly voted Tory - because the Tories appeal to the less 'educated' voter who is more likely to see things in black and white - as Thatcher did in her poisonous tirades, especially in her avowed priority of Tory policy, which was to 'rid the country of every vestige of Socialism'. The word 'worker' also has associations with the rise of Communism - 'workers of the world unite', etc. - so perhaps the 'Democratic Party' would be the kind of title they should aim for - which would be a challenge to the Tories of course, who have been for decades trying to erode democratic principles in the UK.
