Here is my build of the Italeri Royal Air Force Tornado GR.1 in the famous "Mig Eater" livery in 1/72 scale. The original plane took part in Operation Granby during the First Gulf War in 1990/1991 and was stationed at Tabuk Airbase, Saudi Arabia.
The kit is from Italeri's Gulf War 25th Anniversary series. Quality, fit and details could certainly be improved but it is by no means a bad kit. Considerable filling and sanding is required and experienced modelers will definitely want to improve details in the cockpit and a few other places. But after all I think you can build an interesting, great looking model from the kit. Please let me know in the comments below what you think about my build.
I appreciate any Comments as well as Likes and Subscriptions to my channel. I consider myself an advanced beginner in the world of scale model building and I am doing my best to improve my skills and techniques. I will try to upload new build videos regularly, so stay tuned! Cheers and enjoy!

If I remember correctly, the same kit was released as a weekly parts collection in the news agents back in the 90s

This kit reminds me very much of the old prototype-based Airfix Tornado I started when I was 13 and finished at 20 in terms of the parts breakdown.

I've just started this build - you've done a great job. Excellent idea using very fine marking pens to detail the tiny instrument panels, and I love your seat belts! I noticed the nose of my model does not come to a perfect point when I hold the upper and lower fuselage parts together, but yours looks similar, so is it "normal"? Did you have to fill and sand there? Those pylons are a worry - I'm reluctantly thinking of choosing a wing sweep (fully forward perhaps) and cementing the pylons in appropriate orientation. I have no idea if there is a "standard" sweep normally used when the plane is parked(?!)

Hi Charles, apologies for answering so late... Putting the fuselage together was indeed a pain in the rear. I had to use tons of putty and sanding paper to get it to look like "one piece". Regarding wing sweep I would always go for fully forward on a "parked" aircraft but that's just my opinion. Thanks for watching!

Yes, the color I used is Vallejo 71.140 US Desert Sand, equivalent to "Desert Pink". Thanks for watching!

It is a pity that you do not have the tip adapted to the nose, it is a defect that should always be corrected with light coats of putty and a smooth one. It is evident that it is not correct.

Of course it's a mistake, even I can see that. At the time I built this I had only been building models for five months so I tried to focus on other aspects of the model... I always appreciate feedback and comments from my viewers because it's a constant learning effect but this one actually makes me think where the fun is going in all this...

I bought this kit and I would just like to say that this is my first Italeri kit and it will be my last ! So may problems and those pylons are a joke as soon as you try to stick on the armaments then they break - really poor designing !! Apologies for the rant but Italeri must learn to do better !!
