In this episode DW🌎, wants to answer the question on how well a Toro Greens master cutting at 5/8 inch will perform. Will it still have a great quality of cut??
Also DW🌎, gives an update on the results of the PGF complete fertilizer along with an update on the Spraying out his perrenial rye grass.

Sorry if I missed it but how many sq ft are you mowing with that GM1000? I’m trying to determine if the 21” width is good enough for my 6500 sqft or if I should go with the 26” wide GM1600.

6900 sqft. You can get away with 21 inch but if budget and space allows, the 1600 maybe a better option.

I know this is an old post but thought I'd put in my 2 cents. Today's putting greens are at or below 0.125-inch. Lets think about the geometry of the mower. At putting green height the angle of attack of the bed knife is correct, but if you raise the height to 5/8 or .0625-inch, it changes the bed knife angle of attack drastically. It flattens it out when you raise the front. IMHO the 14 blade will give you a great quality of cut if the bed knife angle of attack is proper. To keep the correct angle of attack, you would have to raise the rear roller and on the GM1000, I am not sure you can do that.

So in your opinion, if I were to raise the rear roller on my Flex 2100 with the shims, I could get great results cutting at .4 or .5 with a 14 blade?

@@jvke.p I can’t post a pic here but I think if you look up quality of cut for toro greens mower, you’ll find a section that shows the angle of the bedknife. The flatter it is the more it struggles with making a clean cut. The bedknife angle should tilt slightly higher in the back than the front. However you can adjust your mower to achieve this angle of attack, the cleaner the cut.

@@chadcochran4654 that makes sense. I’ll add shims. The manual calls for 2 shims based on my HOC. think I need to go to an 8 blade for .4 inches or am I alright with 14 blade?
