I have finally used the Toro Reelmaster 3100d. After months of fixing it and a lot of money later I had one of the best mows of my life. Ryan came to help me with the mow and video work. We had an awesome time.

Seriously guys, I've watched hundreds of lawn care videos from the likes of you, Ryan, Allyn, etc but this has been the best by far. We all are just as excited as you to have that beast up and running after following your journey this winter. Add Ryan to the mix, the drone footage of your place, a great soundtrack, and you've got a killer video. Nice work.

Connor, I've always enjoyed your videos BUT this video is by far one of THE BEST !!! You can hear the pure joy and excitement in your voice at 2:32 after mowing with your freshly rebuilt machine. You sound so happy that you can barely speak through the big ear to ear grin you have on your face. I bet it feels great to have taken all the time you invested in rebuilding that machine and have it work perfectly. The stripes are AMAZING to look at and the time you will save will be incredible. Good for you man !!! CONGRATULATIONS !!!

Just when you thought ya had seen it all, you bring up RU-vid & out of the trees appears Mr. Millennial himself......Connor, sporting the Flamingo garb screeching about PPE! Your neighbors have to be shaking their head when you appear & scrambling for their cameras. Thank You for the laughter fit for myself & the little woman!! Awesome work! A couple quick terms that might be helpful that I learned from working at a golf course: We used a clock to describe mowing direction; so today you mowed: 1. 12-6 2. 3-9 3. 10-4 8-2 is the fourth and last option we ever used. Last tip - we typically did perimeter passes or "cleanup passes" at the very end. This will mow over any clumps or transitions at the end of the striping passes where you are picking up and dropping the reel units and tire tracks from turning around. It will also provide a clean seal around the outside to define the mow area and make stripes "pop." Congrats on the awesome triplex restoration; hydrostatic reel mowing at home, are you kidding me!?

I second Griffin's comment. I used to work on the TAMU field staff and clean up passes should come after the main area is mowed. Also, once you get more comfortable with the controls, you should be able to do clean up passes w/ the triplex instead of the walk behind.

@connorward I’m not gonna sit here and say I know it all. But I’d love to give you a couple of tips I learnt, when I first started mowing greens and fairways and my golf course. Best thing is when your mowing line your mower up straight, pick a object in the far distance and start mowing towards it. Don’t look at your cutting heads stare at it and keep mowing, you’ll get cleaner lines. Once you’ve got that down slowly you won’t have to do that, the next thing is try get into the habit of using one hand to drive and one to lift and put down the heads. I find it easier that way. Once you’ve mastered those two tips you should achieve clean lines.

It’ll cut the best stripes, hands down. Worked on a golf course operating that thing for two summers, seriously awesome machine. Only took it into two bunkers, but it happens.

Very nice job! Keep it up! We have 2 3100Ds on the golf course where I work! Great machines, they don't have an easy job to do! Lot of hills and slopes! One has over 4000h on it! I think we got them with just a bit wider reels!!! Greetings from Austria!!

Good pace when mowing and using the blower to keep the dead grass off the reels. Only go around those trees approximately 1x per week or the back wheel will create a bare ring around it.

Toro is reliable af. I worked for national cemetery at some point and that’s what got me started in lawn care/lawn nerd. we had all toro groundsmaster equipment. Super reliable but pretty expensive to fix.

Man I’ve been waiting for this video for a while. As my father’s business utilizes 6 triplex reel mowers for athletic fields around Ohio along with routine treatments and core aeration, etc, it’s been a blessing to have found Connor who shows the world how much goes into turf maintenance. Triplex stripes and the width is truly so beautiful especially with multiple cuts. Thank you for this wonderful first video Connor. Also, to discuss the throttle, id be sure to always run it as high as possible, reel motors run directly off the speed of the throttle, so if you have the throttle higher then the reels will be turning quicker resulting in a better trim cut.

Toro equipment has a 5 minute learning curve and you are good to solo. Strictly pro equipment! You can mow ALL DAY, eating lunch as you mow, steering with one hand and motoring with one foot. Golf courses typically own multiple units.

Here's a hint that everyone probably already knows: Line up your primary stripes with sunrise/sunset line. The stripes will have the most contrast with the sun at your back.

Reel mowers are amazing if the yard is the correct type of grass. Never seen a personal yard use these. Only on golf courses. I used to do all the greens and maintenance on those mowers. Very time consuming.
