Running at GM 1000 that I bought from my country club for $400. Damn thing is bullet proof and all I've done is put a new bedknife on and backlapped a few times.
With my gas mower, i hate mowing. With my $80 amazon reel mower, I mow everyday and love every second. I've got my St. Augustine trained down to 3/4in. It only took one summer. I look out now and I have a golf course as a lawn. No need to spend anymore than $80 and some elbow grease. I finally feel alive. Reel mowing literally saved my life.
I love my Toro Greensmaster 3150! I have about 13k yard that I can mow with it. I got it at an auction several years ago. Does require some maintenance to keep in working condition. I do need to get a Toro 1000 for some areas that can’t get to.
Flex! 💪 I was wondering what I might have too many different types of things, but keep them around anyway… screwdrivers, pliers, ice cream, chicken (food)?
I was actually looking into the Greensmaster 3100 before I bought my Fiskars. Aaron called me and said I was too small though :). For the record my lawn is 1600sq ft. Videos make it look smaller. Thank you guys for the shout out. I "reely" appreciated it . Striperman won't shut up now. That is all he is talking about lol .
Striperman, Good Friday afternoon to you, a wet ,bird chirping day here ,18 degrees Celsius , heading for 21 max today and 25 mm of rain so far. How is it your way today ?
Another great video, the best is the one you can afford imo. I have a Cali trimmer and the manual earthwise 7 blade, that's all, I'm content with what i have. As long as you reel mow Bermuda can look awesome
If you don't need it, are you willing to donate one to a family struggling to survive? I need to make any kind of extra money right now before i can begin my landscaping business. I like the concept of a reel mower and community helping people do better. Please let me know if you would like to make a real difference in this world with me
Love the content. Possibly adding an Allett C34…? Try to refer to them as Cylinder Mowers, reels are things you wind up things on. The USA is the only place they are called “Reel Mowers”.
those little Scotts leg power ones are amazing when you need to cut after an overseed or when the ground is soaking wet and you don't want to use a heavy mower like an Exmark. Quiet, quick, and fantastic quality of cut and they can all be adjusted up to "normal" cutting heights. Always got to have one in your arsenal IMO
Toro used to make a reel mower long time ago and it was called the lawn master? It was a gas powered reel mower and was small Also toro is the more reliable company I mow my lawn with my dads 2013 toro 22 inch self propelled blade mower and it eats grass like butter it has a Kohler 6.65 or something gross torque single cylinder 4 stroke And he is currently teaching me how to use a craftsman 2 stroke leaf blower with 200 mph wind speed and they don't even make it any more along with his self propelled craftsman 2 stage 4 stroke tracked snow blower AND IT IS A MONSTER (video on my channel titled sno) and yeah its cool but is not made any more and us kinda broken
Hey boys! Great stuff! Wondering if it’s still cool to reach out to Carter? I have a 25” McLane 10-blade. Seriously looking for a Toro 1026 or possibly the McLane GK. About 11k sqft currently cutting right at or just below 1/2”. If you’re ever in far north Dallas, let me know!
i am a recent first time home owner and with my front yard and back yard i have over 14 thousand square feet to mow mostly all flat with a 18 inch manual reel mower it weighs around 55 pounds and 5 blades and has metal gears inside the wheels that turn the blades it takes me all day to mow
I’ve really turned around my Bermuda lawn over the past couple of years (now weed free and leveled a couple times now). So I’ve just started getting into reel mowing. I’m running an Earthwise that is identical to that Scott’s. But it makes those ripple marks no matter how fast I walk/run. Does anyone know what I can do to make a smoother/more even look?
@@TheLawnTools Thanks for the reply! Yep, I’ve been doing a dub cut as well. I guess I will keep that up until I can afford to upgrade to a gas powered one. I only have about 1500 sq ft, so it is going to be a while until I can justify adding another mower to the fleet. Lol
Great review! I went the backwards method and bought the GM1000 first and just got a manual reel (video coming soon) to mow my freshly germinated grass. Figured the light mower was a better idea.
For your fairway reel mowing, do like the Amish do and get a horse drawn reel mower! Haha! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-W9CZdZ1T6LI.html
Thanks for the video. Love learning about reel mowers. (2 rotary mowers here) Often contemplated reel mowing part of my yard. But then I think of the dreaded sand leveling. Haha BTW Awesome ending!
I have 12 flex mowers for the course. 6 for greens and 4 for tees and 2 for collars and approaches. We use 3 greens mowers daily and switch them out every other week so we can sharpen or do any other work that needs done. The 4 for tees are always used at same time and same with the last 2. All have 14 blade reels so if anything happens we can change the height of cut of one to cut something different. All of them have the groomers which act like verticutting but very small and not so deep.
I prefer and recommend the Flex and toro brand over anything else even though it is expensive for a homeowner. Using extra heads for different height of cuts make it perfect for back yard putting greens, a head for the fairway, a head for the collars, tee boxes and approaches than a head for the greens and just switch them out which is easy once you learn it. Great video
If you end up in the market for a fairway mower, I just picked up a Toro 6500 D. It’s definitely overkill for my yard, but it runs great. That 3100 of yours would fit nicely here, and I imagine the 96” cut of mine would be nice on your fairway. I went from spending an hour and a half every mow of my yard with a 27” TruCut to 20 minutes with this mower.
@@TheLawnTools well darn. A little further than I was hoping. I’m torn between a a 2016 JD220SL and a 2017 Toro 2120 Flex. Do you have any insight comparing to two? The JD a litter easier to get to me, the Toro $125 less, but has groomer. Unless I should consider something else? Thanks!!!
Great video Lawn Tools. I can mow my 19k sq foot Bermuda yard in 45 minutes when I combine my 50 inch Timecutter and 30 inch Timemaster, 75 minutes with the Timemaster only, and 2 hours when I use my 25 inch McLane. So when it's 95 degrees with a 102 heat index, the McLane stays in the garage.
@@griffturfcare5061 It probably needs carb cleaned etc but I have the reel to bedknife adjustment tool and clipping basket. I’d say $400 and it’s a deal.
