Thank you, this saved me roughly 200.00 between getting my yard mowed. while my mower was out of commission & taking it to local hardware store to get fix.
Another easy adjustment on maintaining and extending the life of a TimeMaster. I still have to show you about turning the pull cord assembly so you pull from the side of the machine to keep the cord straight. Super easy to do. Great video!
Thanks for posting this. It's that time of the year to fix all the mowers! (a weak) yeahhhh... I knew it was simple adjustment, and I really did not want to bring it in to the shop. Thanks again.
I found the fix if you bought a new timemaster and it squeals. It's so simple. I think I can see it in this video. Once you take off the pulley cover, there is a cable running near the engine that is not installed correctly. Unscrew the metal piece and slide it toward the skinny part of the cable(to the right) then bring it back with the cable in the loop. Once tighten I turned on my mower and not only no squeak, there was a powerful roar. Hope this helps. It the only cable running through the front I believe.
I tightened my cable all the way and it’s still loose. It’s also a new belt that worked fine for a few months. Belt still looks good. My son was mowing just fine then all of the sudden the blades wouldn’t engage. Belt is routed correctly. Who knows
@@b.b.5048 maybe take a look at the spring and the piece that holds the cable. It could have slipped out of it. That bolt has to be tight or it will loosen rather quickly once you engage the blades a few times. Hope you get it worked out.
Tony, thanks for the video. I just bought this mower 2 months ago, used it 4 or 5 times and began having this problem. I made the adjustment has you demonstrated. It worked for about 10 minutes and then failed again. I have spent 2 hours messing with this bolt but no success. The cable is not broken. I am embarrassed to say how much I spent on this mower at my local Lowes to help make my life easier. I now have more problems and I don't know what to do. A 1600 dollar mower is useless to me and I need to mow.
Yea that doesn’t sound right. I always recommend buying from a local dealer they would have fixed that issue for free. Check your belts also. Hopefully that could be the issue. 👍🏼
Yes you should see the adjustment I made to make it climbs hills. It’s unreal. Gotta be careful though not to tighten it to tight blades will stay engaged and could break the belt. Still pull the handle slowly back. Check out the video I made for climbing hills with one hand 💪🏼💯
I changed out a broken belt and now my blades will spin even when the handle isn't engaged. I loosened that cable as far as it will go and the blades still spin up without being engaged. Did I install a belt that was too short?
Yes more than likely that’s the problem if you look there and the belt is tight then that’s the problem. That spring when engaged tightens the belt to engage.
Do you have any advice how to get power out of these mowers? I bought one brand new last year. I’ve mowed about 30 times with it. It’s so underpowered it’s ridiculous and embarrassing for the price of them. My deck also is having the issue and not engaging. I’ll see if your advice fixes that issue.
Yes it should. That belt loosens and the spring gets slack in it. You don’t want the spring to be extremely tight though cause your blades will stay engaged. About the power watch my video of me climbing a hill with one hand. Mine drags me around my lawn. Hope it helps 👍🏼
@@TheLawnFellas the belt tensioner as in the small pulley on top of the deck towards the front of the mower. But I also checked the engagement cable today and that was loose too.
@@ColeSpolaric oh ok. That’s the smaller belt on the right hand side. The bigger belt is the blade timing belt. And the belt under the blade engagement belt is the drive belt. 👍🏼
@@a.n.estatemaintenance yes make sure the spring isn’t to tight thought it could break the cord or the blades could stay engaged. There should still be a little slack.
I think that’s impossible. If that happens then the blades will be hitting each other. But if it really is only engaging one blade something is wrong with the timing belt. Those are timed blades.
@@mrpickle23 well my first timemaster never gave me a problem for 270 hours. My new timemaster is giving me fits with 59 hours. But 59 hours on a mower like this is about 60-70 6,000 square foot lawns. So that’s about 4-5 years of a homeowner mowing.
