I put Marty outside so he can chill and i noticed that he started to squeak/chirp. I’m kind of confused, should i be worried? If you have any info on this, let me know.
@@707.dyllaan2 we weren’t sure why they made those noises in the first place. Honestly, looking back, it may have been a respiratory issue. However, today they’re healthy at 6 years old.
That tortoise can't breath like normal. There is probably too cold and it might have nose or throath infection. It is not only cold air that is bad for tortoises. Wind is bad too.
what was the problem or do they all do that ??? mine is about 2 months nd i notice from times to time he be doin lil squeeks but no bubbles or nothing on his nose 😯😮💨
Shelby The tortoise definitely a respiratory infection if there’s bubbles from the nose, it could be due to a lot of different things, I’d say take a look at her enclosure and try to maintain the right temps until the vet can see her.
I just bought a tortoise 2 days ago and today for the first time i heard her making this sound few times then she stops she makes it one or two times a day.. is it normal?
Okay so, i’ve gotten mixed responses from people. Most have said it’s normal for tortoises to squeak or hiss, but some have said it could be a sign of respiratory issues and is something to look out for and to be checked on by a vet. Personally, my torty ended up being fine! I think in his case it was normal but you should probably look further to make sure yours is safe and healthy. Best wishes and health to your girl and I hope all is well😁👍🏼🌷
Also, the weather could play into that! Usually if it’s too cold for them. Marty there ended up being okay but at the time it was always cold out and this was just when he got moved outside as he was growing.
@@martytheliltortoise5409 she has heat bulb and uvb bulb the temp is perfect for her but i an worried and honestly i could return her to the place i bought her from but I don’t want to.. i want to treat her and keep her with me, thanks for the response
Having my tortoise do the same thing this week recently. Not sure if male or female. They are always in the corner when they do it though like squaring off against the wall. I hear it once in a blue moon, but no discharge around eyes or nose; have done fecal samples and even had him checked out by vet before and they said he seemed healthy. I don't know if it is him asking to be taken out to soak or what tbh.
lots of mixed replies!! some are say it’s an infection yes. however i think another cause is air escaping the shell when he goes inside, which is what my tortoise was doing in the video.
I am here because recently my tortoise started squeaking. I went to the vets whom said he/she (not sure yet) was underweight but he/she only ever does it when bathed. I bath in warm water but when in enclosure or walking around the kitchen floor I hear nothing. Anybody know why it's only during a bath? There is no nasal discharge and no eye issues. Also whilst I am here I leave water in the enclosure to prevent dehydration and he/she knocks it over or slinga substrate in it and I worry about dehydration, any advice?
About the water bowl thing, My little redfoot dirties her water literally every 3 nanoseconds. There is no possible way to keep your tortoise' water completely clean unless you keep substrate away from it or replace it constantly. Even then though, substrate gets stuck to your tortoise' legs and he'll walk over to the water and dirty it anyway. Depending on your tortoise' age, they should be getting frequent baths to prevent dehydration. You also shouldn't let them walk around on the floor, especially in the kitchen. Probably the dirtiest floor you could let them walk on. The squeaking in only the bath thing might just be your tortoise getting water in its nose. It could be squeaking because it's trying to take that water into itself, tortoises DO intake water through their nose, mouth and cloaca.
@@justsomerandomguy785 thank you. Do they still drink the water if its dirty with soil? I have noticed she's also not very lively these days. She has a massive house outside to roam and chooses to slump in the corner most of the time. I am not sure what I am going wrong here. Its warm outside and its warm in her inside enclosure as well.
@@donnajones2468 They do try to drink it even if it's dirty, but you shouldn't let them. It shouldn't matter much if they do drink a tiny bit of dirt, but if they intake a lot at once it's not good. Depending on the type of tortoise, they do sleep for most of their day. Redfoots for example sleep for 12+ hours. Tortoises like enclosed and dark spaces to sleep in, but if your tortoise is exhibiting abnormal behaviours than usual, then they may be sick or stressed. Most likely with a respitory infection, or they may not be comfortable in their environment. Make sure they have the required ambient temperature, basking temperature, humidity, and diet. If you keep her with other tortoises it may be best to seclude her for a while.
Also check to see if her breathing is louder than normal, that can also signify respitory infection or she may have something stuck in her nose, like a crumb of dirt or food.
@@justsomerandomguy785Yeah I can definitely vouch for that dirty waterbowl. I cleaned mine and he sprinkled dirt on it not even a minute later. When I got home today it was like someone dumped a cup pf dirt into it. 😂
