Small tires was not the problem. Unlocked differentials front and rear, which equates to only one wheel pulling on either axle, is the problem. As soon as a wheel is in the air, your XJ is reduced to one wheel drive.
Little trick i learned in my 95 xj, gently apply the brakes, and it tricks the 4x4 system into thinking all 4 wheels have traction so all 4 wheels spin when one or more are off the ground.
Sunk a 1995 jeep cherokee sport that ran very poorly up to the doors in mud and pulled right out sold a week later to someone I knew and told him how it ran he said ok drove it halfway to his house and motor blew. Also had an international truck that pulled a Ford bronco that was still in park out of a mud hole both the bronco and the international were sunk halfway up the doors and we had to beat the bumper to the bronco straight again because it basically turned into a triangle best vehicle we ever owned.
It was near the GA/NC line for sure! Not sure where Tate City is though. I heard they redid it a few years back and made it less intense and more gravel road, haven’t been back to try it since I heard that.
Not trying to be mean or disrespectful. But the longer u keep or the longer she stays behind the wheel, THAT GIRL WILL BE ABLE TO OUT DRIVE YOU IN THAT THING ANYWHERE ANYDAY ANYTIME!!!!!
