Landover, Maryland, USA - 1984 World Professional Figure Skating Championships, Ice Dancing, Technical Dance - Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean of Great Britain won the Technical Dance with their skate to Song of India.
Never saw the likes of this before this amazing couple started skating together and have not seen the likes of this ever since. They had it all - artistry, athleticism, musicality, poise, inspiration, craftsmanship, dedication, strength, confidence, humility, beauty, courage, pure poetry in motion - perfection. 10 indeed!
Sometimes, the world comes to a screeching halt, the voices of life shouting "QUIET! The world is about to see something spectacular!" It doesn't happen often, but when it does, art and beauty are one, undivided, and forever set in the records and annals in the Hall of Fame of art. This is one of those moments. A painting in motion.
I have never seen this performance before, but it is the most amazing ice dance that I have ever seen. They just seem to move as one. It was absolutely beautiful. I wonder why we have not seen this wonderful performance before. Could watch it over and over again.

I never ever get tired of watching them. They are light years better than anyone else, not only in their technical skills but in their creativity.These videos are over 20 years old and they are not dated in the least. No one yet has even come close.They are unequaled in this sport.
Although they have long since retired and I hope are still mentoring and training others, for my generation they are the King and Queen of ice dancing/figure skating. Grateful to be able to enjoy their performances again on RU-vid. 👏🏽🌹👏🏽

I can’t fully express how grateful I am that the videos of Torvill and Dean are on RU-vid! Their performances are nothing short of extraordinary and breathtaking! I will NEVER forget their performances in the 1984 Winter Olympics! My eyes well up and my heart swells every time I watch them! What a gift!

The choreography is out of this world! Their dancing is flawless also! It was perfection! They floated with such airy-ness! There wasn't a smidgeon of blemish..... Breathtaking! O. My. God. I'd never seen this one before. What enormous strength it takes to skate that slowly, and make the lifts effortless. They look like Hindu Gods.

А вторинність - вона в голові у тих, хто має цю вторинність. А у мене нема вторинності від того, що я добре знаю кацапську мову і доречі називаю її російською, бо вона саме так називається незалежно від того, що нею оперує ботоксний дєдушка на каблуках путін. I think this is perfection and better then the bolero… if you could ever top that. However the music, costumes, fluidity of moment and auch a fabulous choreography made be be drawn in awe of such greatness.
Beautiful and sensational , the scores at the end said it all, They'd really made it as Pros. And as one of the commentators said, free from the constraints of amateur competition.

They were so perfect, Chris's choreography, and artistic talent, not to mention strength to pick Jayne's ability to partner him to DO the moves he wanted, they STILL dance on Ice and I feel blessed to have been able to watch them all this time..............remember also they both worked full time when they were amateurs, they had to get the BUS to the ice rink at 4am to practice and then go to work....and people today moan that its hard being a RU-vid creator :(
Watching this in the confines of a COVID19 lockdown in Australia in 2020, has brought me so much joy. I was lucky to enough to see them live when they came to Australia and I fell in love with them. Their professionalism and technique have yet to be equalled, but something magical happened when they stepped on the ice as a pair. Their choreography matched perfectly to their impeccable choice of music. They brought ice dancing to a whole other level, one which I believe will never be surpassed.
Oh! I'm so sorry for you both ...and everyone in Canada , New Zealand, UK and of course America ...but Australia has got to be the WORST for so few cases ...never been done in history this massive lockdown causing even MORE misery, loss of income, starvation in the 3rd world & death! It's really time to pray for an end to this "bbb" tyranny! Torvill & Dean are a great comfort ...& other beauty yet gleaned on YT.
@@kindlydude did you ever consider why there have been so few cases comparatively? It’s because we went into lockdown. Do you see the correlation? It’s no accident that that is how it works. I’m so sick of the whinging about how we live in a dictatorship with a tyrant in charge. Well I would like anybody to come forward and tell me how they would have done it better with the knowledge that was at hand. Not the 20/20 hindsight that makes it so easy to criticise. Just grow up and thank God you live in a country that cares more for its citizens than the almighty dollar!
I think this is better than Bolero. I love it. I love it! She's sitting on his neck. He could break his neck. And OMG! the transitions! You can't even see them. They meld one move into the other and it's nonstop without a break. This is one of the most sensuous stunning ice dances. Plus the difficulty is a 20. No one can do this. Not today and not ever. Long live T&D. THere will never be another.

Mesmerising just as all their performances were. And just imagine that a week or so ago, forty years on and again in Sarajevo where they first came to the attention of most of the world they have just announced their official retirement.. Forty years of perfection, they will remain the perfect dancing couple forever (on ice).

Their impeccable execution of the choreography is amazing! Without any transitions! Their passion is coming out of the screen! Every time they create Wonders...
I stand in awe. My heart is full from the grace and beauty of their dance. I have loved their performances from Sarajevo to the present, and the joy of their perfection never dims.

Just extraordinary. On the ice they are truly as one. No wasted moves, everything soldy smooth ~ This would have to be a couple making love on ice, without the thing we think of. Imagine if all couple conducted their lives like this. I doubt that this standard will ever be bettered. Dean is an amazing choreographer. Yes, he does most of the dance story at a technical level. But then again, I think this pair could go out there, and put on a show without planning and practice. That is how good they are.
WOW !! they never plain skate, they just move from one thing to another without us even knowing, they are perfection and no one will ever come up to their incredible standards...
