@@idnwiw in a lot of the languages it isn't. I think in a lot of Asian languages it isn't cause we don't have such a think in our folklore, so rather than butchering it they decide to go with just witcher.

I listened to all of them in English on audiobook. I hope the translation is faithful. I also watched the Polish series with great enjoyment on RU-vid years ago. A shame almost every episode with Engsub is blocked in my country these days.

A French speaker myself I find the French version awkward this is always the case when you try to convert a song that works in English in wich the enfissis is placed in different places on words that are spelled and sometimes pronounced similarly, meaning that the words sound very awkward. I don't know if this is the case for other languages but it doesn't apply as much the other way around...

The Polish voice actor of Jaskier and the Polish voice actor of Geralt you can hear in the Polish dubbing of Netflix series "Witcher" were playing Jaskier and Geralt in the Polish TV series "Wiedźmin" that was the first attempt to take the Witcher books into big screen. Not much left of it in archives, you can find some clips of "Wiedźmin" on RU-vid.

@@BabaJaga-ls8xl It's not that hard really. There is just a lot weird letters that are hard to pronounce (for example ż, ź, rz, cz, sz, dzi, dz) for not slavic person and many words have many varieties.

O problema da dublagem brasileira é que sempre tem o mesmo defeito: ambientação porca. Estão num cenário aberto e a vioz sempre é fechada, abafada. E é tão fácil corrigir isso. Francamente, essa palhaça de dizer que nossa dublagem é a melhor do mundo é papo furado. Quase todo mundo nunca ouviu dublagens estrangeiras pra comparar.

Interesting. I’m a native English speaker so I can’t really say. I always thought tonal languages sounded more song like, because the exact same word said with a different tone or inflection makes it a different word (I.e Mandarin and a lot of other Asian languages)

Its because English has a HUGE vocabulary so if one word doesn't fit there are loads more. Makes it easier to get songs to flow. Being linguistic magpies does help sometimes 😂
