Hello. I drove down a similar trail in that region. I was near there earlier this summer when the flies were not too bad. It is approximately a thirty mile drive in and I also have an SUV, I had to drive it very slowly down that trail. The trail ended up near a lake and very remote campground. I plan to return to the region during the fall. In the past, when I visited the Adirondacks during the summer months, especially July, I would wear a hat with a full head and face net to shield from the biting horseflies. I saw bobcats, coyotes, deer, birds and turtles.

Super Nice. IF you get there too early, you run into the Black Fly swarms. And they are really viscous. Maybe we'll see you this fall. We plan to be back after September!

@@GoingNoWhereFast Yes you have to wear a headnet. We plan to visit our camp this fall. Hope to see you and the pup.

Been there a number of times, always in Sept for early bear season. That road coming in from Indian Lake is a washboard all the way. Brutal. I love it there. Nobody jammed up against your camp site, and a lot of the sites have a stream next to, or behind your camp. Quiet and peaceful, and wild. People just need to know, fill up your gas tank before you go in, because it's a long walk out.

Dear Rick, Thanks for the beautiful video. I just came home from a couple of weeks in the Tupper Lake area of the Adirondacks. I had hoped to camp at least part of the time in my minivan but the campgrounds now require advanced reservations, something that wasn't the case the last time I was there. At my age,83, I can't rough it as much as I use to but still love the out of doors. Was able with my rollator with a seat to do several trails in the woods. Walked several miles and really enjoyed it! It is such a beautiful area. My weather was nice and only had rain a few days. Bugs weren't too bad either, I arrived on the 13th of September. My favorite month for outdoors. Keep up the good work, I really enjoy watching you and Akela doing your thing. Sincerely, Joyce

That's Awesome Joyce! I wish I was with you! Yes the ADK is best after Labor day right up to Thanksgiving. (Unless the snow comes early). Many places are turning to Reservations only. The Cell Phone / Internet age is upon us!! My Favorite Campgrounds are being ruined by turning all reservations. So Now they are full every weekend 6 months in advance. When they were FCFS they always had a open spot or two!! Sad, but what can you do!! Plan ahead and reserve I guess!! Stay String and we'll see you on the trail next year !!

Ya!!! I told you I'd be there, though I did not consider how hot and deer fly ridden it was. We should have been in the trees where there are just mosquitoes. I haven't camped in the ADK during summer I bet in 20 years. Always go in fall. Now I remember why. But the good thing is there wasn't many other people there either!! lol

OMG. The ride into the campground/site must have been crazy. I guess the only thing good about flies is that they are not mosquitos. Beautiful drone footage.
@GoingNoWhereFast
@GoingNoWhereFast Год назад
Yes it was! It's mostly just large rocks sticking up in the road that you hit like a speed bump. Since the trailer tires were at full air pressure they bumped around a lot. Ya, the flies bite and hurt like hell for a moment, the mosquitoes and tiny No-see-ums itch for several days and drive me nuts. And that's a very short drive!

I think we have the ticks pretty beat with regular permitherin treatment to our clothes, but the no-see-ums are undefeatable and miserable! Thanks for the comment !

I camped at MRP after seeing your first video on the area. Staying in a tend and dodging bugs was a chore! From what I read, this area was logged by a paper company many years ago. Thanks for the video............
@GoingNoWhereFast
@GoingNoWhereFast Год назад
A lot of the ADK was logged out in the 30s-40's-50's. That's one reason it was easy for the state to take it all over. Much of the east side of Route 30 is Still owned by Paper companies. And they lease the land out to people for 100yrs for a small fee and an agreement to follow the APA rules. I guess they think in 100 years they'll come back and log it again!

I try very hard not to use bug spray, though I had 3 bottles of some really good (no-DEET) stuff my Fish & Wildlife friends told me about. Did not get a chance to try it out though. Maybe Next week!

Wolverines? In the Adirondacks? I wish. Good to see the Moose River Plains. I haven't been in there in the last few years. @@GoingNoWhereFast My videos are pretty primitive, much like the areas I visit. They are all point of view (I never appear other than hands, feet. arms and legs), with little editing, so they aren't everyone's cup of tea. @cumberlandquiltchic1 Spent most of my live in New York while visiting as much of the rest of the US as I had time for. Went to College in Albany. I worked for Fish & Wildlife in NY for 5 years, Then transferred over to the Health Dept and was a health inspector for a year in Lake George\Glens Falls\Saratoga Area. Five years ago took a Job here in NC and decided to stay here as its much like NY (With a lot less snow)

I do but I don't think they make it anymore. Any DJI Drone is a good drone. Prices go from $100 to $2000+ . The Mavic Mini seem to be the most popular these days in the RU-vid world.
