Thank you! I tried to copy myself by flying with my son this year (in a plane), but I don’t think I can compare to 2017. Watching his reaction was the best part this time around. I’ll still post the video when I get a chance to edit it.

@@benyonker The best part of the paramotor flight is that you cut the engine and glided throughout the eclipse. You really captured the silence of the event in a powerful way. I'm still looking forward to your flight with your son!

​@@RockinRobbins13 Hiya. I totally agree. There are a couple of videos of Paramotors in this year's Eclipse. Bad music and squeels of excitement have ruined them for me. This video totally captures the absolute AWE of one of the most beautiful events on our World ❤

Ben, this is by far the best video of the totality eclipse that is out there from a PPG perspective. After seeing others that have come out, I had to come back and watch yours again. Really nice job!

Absolutely! Amazing experience. I wouldn't say it was life changing but it inspired me to make positive changes in my life on my own. It is a 9 1/2 hour drive to Short Mountain where we stayed and a 17 hour traffic jam all the way back to Cincinnati.......but yes I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Flying somewhere to watch from the ground is the second best way to see it, though - nice to skip all the traffic afterward!

yeah some people driving had a 13 hour return trip. Took me less than two although we were looking outside like crazy with hundreds of planes heading south around the same time.

Ha, I was one of those people. 4 hours down, over 8 back. I wish I could fit the paramotor in an airplane, but I usually rent a little Skycatcher - not enough room. And like you said, even air traffic was unusually heavy. That’s alright, though, it was all worthwhile!

Thank you, sir! I don't know how they did it in Madisonville, but at Springfield, they closed the airport to any aircraft that didn't have a prior reservation, and they NOTAMed the airport closed altogether for the hour prior to totality. I think there were about 60 planes there at the peak, plus a couple of helicopters. It was a really well-organized operation, with a designated slot for everyone coming in. The line for fuel was probably 10 to 12 aircraft deep at any given time, with most fueling up on arrival. A few had actually left for home before I landed from this flight. I live near Indianapolis, so I'll be watching the 2024 eclipse from right here at home! However, it will be April, so if the weather isn't looking good, I may very well end up in the northeast somewhere. Thanks again for the compliments!
