Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia - Politics & Intrigue Feature Spotlight 

Can`t believe CA is actually taking steps in making the grand campaign experience more similar to that of Crusander Kings. All the memes and wishful thinking finally paid of! Love this new features and improvements! Maybe in a few years we`ll finally have the CK 2 campaign with Total war battles that we`ve been dreaming of! Keep up the great work TW team!

After playing eu4 and crusader kings I’ve realised how important it is to have things to do other than just war. Total war games would benefit significantly from more peacetime campaign features. This is a step in the right direction, well played.

Good Job, finally bringing back estates and offices from Medieval I - I hope that the Offices and Estates are represented in titles for the nobles that hold them, would be great for immersion on the campaign map.

Hm, these are actually nice changes

Characters with low loyalty have always been easily dealt with by being replaced with better ones or sent to a suicide battle. To make it more challenging and require a more subtle approach from players , I suggest adding a mechanic in which the disloyal character has a chance to defect with a part of his army (the amount depends on how many battles the army has won with him as leader) whilst being sent to a disadvantageous battle or being replaced, and the one replacing him might be assassinated. Please take this into consideration, CA.

Whenever I have a particularly annoying general whose loyalty I cannot secure, I make sure they die in battle. Usually works quite well.

this all looks great, y'all just need to bite the bullet and crack on with a new engine, then your on to a winner. Battles look better tho, credit where credit's due. Keep up the good work.

Very good video. Easy, quick and to the point.

Although i thought this new game might improve on previous instalments , i see they still make diplomatic options very limited and un realistic. They need to take notes from game like Crusader Kings 2 or even something as simple as game of thrones. Marriages should matter, you should inherit the lands if you have a claim to a kingdom you married into that has no heir, you should get almost unquestioned support and loyalty from your spouses family. These are just a few examples. Diplomatic events and decisions have had an huge impact on our history and to ignore that in favour of a war driven campaign which is for the most part non historical and for being a company claiming to put out “historical content” they should hold true to that claim.

Assassinations don't secure loyalty it just get rids of the character. getting married only works if the wife happens to have a specific trait. This is literally the EXACT same Attila politics and intrigue system the only exception is estates... wow. SO much difference for a new stand-alone game.

So they took the ideas from CK 2 and applied them to total war? I approve.

It would be greate when we could play the multiplayer campaign with more than 2 player.

We REALLY, REALLY need moddable campaign maps in Total War games again, so that a proper Game of Thrones mod can be made to utilize these awesome political/dynastic features.

I wish the people you appointed to political positions actually helped you rule better. Like if you had a loyal treasurer, he would adjust the tax automatically to the best of his abilities, and your top ranked military commander would tell you if you should increase or decrease your armies etc.

Since generals can take away a portion of troops from the army they are commanding if they go rogue. If they are removed from command of their armies and given their past history of leading their men, could their rebellion also cause some men from an army they formerly commanded to desert with them depending on how long they had been leading that army? Could the same apply to governors? Like if a nobleman has governed a region for a substantial amount of time and he is popular, even if you removed them from their office and strip them of their estates, if they suddenly go rogue would the loyalty of that province fall to them in a way that it secedes to them immediately or a rebel army or armies consisting of their troops suddenly pop up in said region(s) to take its towns and cities in their name?

In my campaign I'm finding I don't have enough governors to take charge of the main settlements I've captured. Is it capped at 10? Will I need to move some governor from another settlement to work in my new one?

Yeah just keep taking points from Paradox and you'll do good. They basically print money. It's been a long time coming for the TW series to actually gain depth and not strip it. Now maybe if we move back to the engine used by TW: Rome.... seeing how the current one is bad for melee but good for ranged...

I always thought the most needed mechanic is hit&run or ambush tactics. For example, I want to use my cavalry to chase a big army, hit it with an arrow and retreat without min casualty. Like an attrition in a different way...

Game looks pretty good, period is also nice. Just one question... How many DLCs should we expect for this game or how many features will be missing from original version and will come with DLC? (Blood and gore definitely) any others?

i really hope the Romance of the three kingdoms game has amazing politics/intrigue like the SNES games, I also hope we have one on one battle duals like in the game...an amazing marriage system and a unique management system not like any other total war game.

I like it. There are more options & customization than other historical titles.

The absolute best way to assassinate a character... is by going full david on them and sending them to the thick of battles to die. No stakes. No losses. And I end the turn sipping my tea and replacing the general

Total War is moving away from battles and turning into a Crusader Kings clone. I love that it is focused on Britain, but do not make it too complicated. Keep it slick and simple with more emphasis on action like Shogun 2.

i prefer the simplicity of shogun 2 with the use of agents in the field, the tech tree needed work, but the political elements were so memorably enjoyable

Going to be honest and say I've not played TW series since Medieval 1 and Shogun 2.. Then the Warhammer titles came out. As a massive Warhammer fan, it was about bloody time a game like that was released and it's amazing. That said, been wanting a good TW game with improved diplomacy in an interesting time period like this. Good effort and looking forward to playing it with my mate :) gg CA

Yes CA! More politics, a step in the right direction. Theres much more to ruling an empire than having a big army. If you guys would keep all the features you had across your TW games there would be so many features. All the past options in politics/diplomacy/building in one game would make for a very fleshed out experience. Maybe let us mess with other peoples internal politics? Would be very interesting and enrich the game!

I hope that in three kingdom we have a lots of features like that! Because the battles are very beautiful but is too simple the turn mode, for now....

Why don't you just make a collaboration game with paradox. Total war: Crusader kings 3.You do the graphics and combat, whilst they program in general and make the politics complex.

why did they named it "Total War Saga" is this the beginning of a new series ? the word "saga" makes me think they're going to be developing multiple games in Britannia kinda like how they did/do with Warhammer

What happens if you run out of Royal family i.e. they all die in battle? I'd love to see a civil war amongst pretend claimants, and you get to pick which one you want to continue as.

People in the comments are so whiney. Sure there's always room for improvements, I would like to see the ability to exchage prisoners of war, both generals and soldiers, and exchage hostages to both people in your realm as well as abroad to secure treaties and loyalty. However this is a great step in the right direction. This might lead to further diplomatic options in future games. I for one am looking forward to this game!

Just out of curiosity but will factions be able to build religious buildings? And are there different religions in the game or are all factions Christian?

I gave out my estates and the loyalty of some of the governors decreased by 1 point instead of gaining. :( Politics, as always, in Total war games is just a broken mechanic to waste time, a skinner box.

i see gameplay images, and it seems a dlc for attile. have i been wrong all this time, and this is in fact ATTILA DLC?

So how much is this new Attila DLC and has the battle AI been improved because it was terrible/game breaking in Attila
