Amazing how quickly we recognize Michael McDonald's voice, loved her reaction and thank you for not pausing the song and allowing it to play before commenting on it.
This shows how underrated “Luke” is ( Steve Lukather ) Great vocals. Most of my Toto favorites feature SL on lead ( vocals and of course guitar ) . Without your Love and I Won’t Hold you Back are a couple more examples…
Toto drummer, Jeff Porcaro (RIP) was arguably the most highly regarded studio drummer in rock from the mid-'70s to the early '90s. His playing was crisp and precise, propulsive without being showy.
I am a big R&B fan but if you have never seen Toto perform live then you’ve missed an excellent show. I saw Toto perform live in Germany and Michael McDonald toured with them as a special guest. Outstanding show. Michael McDonald always played a major role in many artists career. He is a true legend!
Michael McDonald was going to be the original lead singer of Toto but things did not work out and they ended up with Bobby Kimball. Lukather is on record stating that this was the case back when Toto was being formed.
Damn…this is my favorite Toto song. Of course Steve Lukather is one of the greatest guitarists of all time, but I’ve also always thought his vocals were underrated.
I love Toto!! One of my 3 favorite bands. Yes, that's Michael McDonald singing back-up. I have been to many Toto concerts and Michael performed with them many times. New subbie. ;-)
"I Won't Hold You Back" is another great ballad by Toto. I LOVE Toto - their catalog is great. Hold The Line Africa Rosanna St. George and the Dragon 99 I'll Supply The Love Girl Goodbye Lorraine Stranger in Town
Your expression when you realized it was Micheal McDonald! It was priceless! Love him too! It’s one of my favorites! I love someone in that way so I feel that song to my core!❤
WHAAAATTTT!!!!! 1 MILLION PROPS POINTS TO YOU, GIRL, FOR RECOGNIZING THE GREAT MICHAEL MCDONALD (SANS THE OFFICIAL VIDEO) IN THIS SONG!!!! You are one of few reactionists who even recognize the greatness!!!!
Boz Scaggs had a heartbreak song like this one called Heart of Mine. He also had a heart swelling love song called Love, Look What You’ve Done to Me. Both great are great songs. One breaks your heart, the next one mends it.
I saw Toto for the first time a few years ago at The Iowa State Fair. They opened for Yes. Absolutely phenomenal concert even though a thunderstorm rolled through during Yes's set.
I have a brother that was 2 years older than me, he has been gone over 4 years now got me hooked on this amazing group back in the 70's when we were teens. He got to see them in concert and all I got from it was what he told me. Great group with great songs that will live on forever. Thank you big brother for the amazing memories and thank you for being such a terrific brother. Until we meet again.
I was fortunate enough to have met TOTO in 1979 back stage at a 3 day event at the L.A. Coliseum. They are one of most talented bands of all time. Each member is a master at their craft of producing great music. Steve’s guitar playing is among the best ever.
Try checking out Toto 'Love has the power' live 1990 if you want something a little funky by the best live band ever. Lead on this is Jean-Michel Byron who was only with Toto a short while but did a couple of great songs
For a disco-ish groove from Toto check out Georgy Porgy. Female singer in that song is Cheryl Lynn who had a disco hit call Got To Be Real written for her by none other than Toto.
You can just put an opaque pic over the video or a slight blur and that will take care of the blocking issue while the audience will still see just enough to know where you are in the video.
Steve Lukather's book, The Gospel According to Luke, is an outstanding read. There's lots of great stories. He also writes of the tough times including losing close friends and band members.
