I love that you guys are showing us more of your day to day routines. It makes the video more personable and genuine. Also as a long time dog owner i couldnt imagine being in a house without a pet. It just doesnt feel like a home to me imo. We all miss spudgy and we'll always remember him! I think giving a new dog a good loving home would be amazing!

It's taken me a bit to write this but I wanted to say how thankful I am Martina left the part about Spudgy and not being ready in. I hate to see you cry but it's almost comforting in a way to know other's go through those emotions My fiance and I had a guinea pig for years, and the day before my fiance's birthday he suddenly showed he was very sick (guinea's being prey animals hide their illness' well) We rushed him to the vet that day but ultimately had to put him down as there was no vet in a 4 mile radius who could treat small animals and the medicine we needed wouldn't arrive in time through the vet A few months later, being we still had dogs we went a into pet shop and my fiance noticed some young guinea pigs and talked about getting one, and I started crying at the thought (I'm tearing up now thinking about it) and had to leave the store. I started bawling and couldn't handle the thought of being ready to take care of another, and felt almost guilty at the thought of getting another, like I was trying to replace him or forget what happened But my fiance said the same thing Simon did and despite not doing anything that day I gave myself time to think over his words and we ended up adopting another guinea pig and while I miss Pippin (the one who passed) I know we're giving Hana all our love and spoiling her And now I'm crying but it's worth it Sorry this got so long, but really, thank you Martina. I know you miss Spudgy but thank you for showing this. I love these sort of 'imperfect' vlogs. The ones that are your true daily life and not how other vloggers may only show the perfect bits of their lives

I'm really liking this new 'vlog' format. I love the 'professional' food blogging videos too and terribly miss the sexy food porn shots with the sexy gravelly Martina narration, but I am living for this! Just seeing them interact and be normal gives such a clean non-manufactured look into what living in Japan is actually like... Most of all I have such a deep admiration over how much they've changed their video format over the years, it's just so interesting and fun!! Their videos are just. So. Much. Fun! Also I'm living for Martina's look and probably will totally copy her hairstyle in the nearby future... It's just so pretty..........

I really adore these videos. When you guys show behind the scenes shots, show the beginning of your days, and to even show the sad parts like the end of your video. I love these like everyday videos, it's still just as good as the full pro edited videos. Just another perspective and style? Idk what I'm talking about but I just really enjoy these. I dont think you can ever just let go of your old pet and your love for them. My previous dog who was in my half of my life just died suddenly...first of all, you cant prepare for a death ever. And you can't be ready to "let go". I dont think we should ever let go of the love and memories. I still tear up even though we have a new dog and I love him just as much.

I really appreciate seeing the "normal" along with the extra fun stuff. And I'm excited that you've decided to get a new dog at some point :) I remember when my first pup passed, knowing when to get a new fuzzy family member wasn't easy. But after about a week of having pup number 2, it was like she'd been there forever

dear martina, getting a new pet after losing an old, beloved pet is very hard to do. personally, i felt like i was betraying my older dogs or 'replacing' them, but one thing about dogs is they always are happy when we are happy. spudgy would want you to be so happy. it might be too soon if you are still very upset, but the best advice i can give is to just peruse a shelter without the intent or thought of getting a new dog to see how you feel. a lot of times, my new dogs found me unexpectedly and won my heart. trust me girl, i cried with you. viva la spudgy xoxo

I don't know if this will get seen, but for the smoothie in the mornings, I do: 1 banana 1 cup of kale 1 cup of spinach 1 cup of frozen assorted berries 1/2 cup of almond milk (ing. of just almonds and water) 1/2 cup of water (or ice) and cinnamon (which is also anti-inflammatory!) I have auto-immune disorders and I've taken out added sugars, preservatives, soy, gluten, etc. Turmeric and Cayenne are anti-inflammatory but I usually add those to my savory meals! Just some tips I've picked up! Lmk if anyone else has some good recipes for anti-inflammatory diets!

You'll never be 100% ready for a new dog. We lost our cat right before Valentine's day. She was just 3 years old, we did everything we could to save her but there was just nothing we could do. We ended up getting a kitten about a week later just because the silence in our house was deafening, we couldn't handle it in the slightest. Do I think I was ready for a new cat? No, but this little one deserved a good home. I love her with all of my heart, but I have cried and mourned Pixel every day. I, personally, take comfort in knowing that Pixel isn't hurting anymore and little Crepe Suzette here has found a home that will spoil her rotten. Just remember, it's not a replacement but an addition. You will get through this!

Martina, when my childhood dog passed away when he was 13 I was very upset. I thought about him often and cried a lot. On a whim I adopted a puppy & it was the most healing thing. It didnt make me forget about my dog that I grew up with & called my bubby. I still think of him all of the time, But I had all of this love to give & I directed it toward this new little creature and it really helped me. You guys are wonderful pet parents and a doggy will be blessed to have you and I know a doggy will bless you back.

I just found out about this channel and got through the life and death of Spudgy in a very condensed way of, ooh videos, ooh what a great couple and their pets. Oh no the doggy, oh no... I have never been sadder for a pet I have only seen through a screen in the span of hours :( But on a happier note I have also never seen people get prettier the older they get, so kudos on that!!!

I absolutely LOVE seeing this “normal” side of you guys. Everything from waking up to making coffee to enjoying a nice meal at a park to crying about dogs!! Everything is so amazing. We love you guys!

I dont think anyone is fully ready or knows when its time for another furry (or feathery) family member. The new sweetie will never replace those you've lost, but it's so fulfilling, and heartwarming when you see how much happiness you can bring into another ones life.

Martina, I know its hard to move on and think about adopting another dog, but know that Spudgy will always be with you and Simon in your heart and memories. Like Simon said, think of how happy you two will make for another puppy who is waiting to be adopted by such a fun, loving, and wonderful couple like you two are. Know this -and if you ever read this I will be happy- nothing in the world can NEVER replace the love you two have for Spudgy. Like you have been sharing your love for your pets over the years, you can continue to share that love again with a new four-legged member to your family. When I saw sweet Martina crying I started crying. Losing Spudgy was the same as losing any loved and valued family member in my opinion. I know that you guys have so much love in your hearts for Spudgy that it is overflowing. Any pupper that you adopt will be so lucky to have you guys.

I love these “day in the life” videos. My neighbor Totoro was the first Ghibili film I ever saw and it will always hold a special place in my heart. Spirited Away comes in at a close second, because how can you not love those tiny soot sprites! 💕

I definitely started crying when they talked about Spudgy. I've been watching since they were English teachers in Korea and Spudgy was the first animal i never met that I fell in love with. His little personality (and Martina's hilarious Spudgy voice) was a wonderful highlight to any video he popped up in. I was so very sad when he passed. But at least you guys have plenty of footage to watch of him when you're ready. My favorite is the reuniting video after you guys moved to Japan. Even as Spudgy got older and wasn't able to walk very well, he still got just as excited to see you guys when you walked in the door, waddling over as fast as he could for some lovins. He was such a wonderful boy, and you guys were great loving parents to him. I know you'll be the same for any other dog you get, in time. Don't be afraid to love again Martina! Also since this is already a long comment, I just wanna say that you guys are amazing people for opening up your lives like this. I've loved watching your videos for over a decade now and you guys are still one of my favorite channels. I love how silly and weird you are, and how genuine and real your content is. I really hope to meet you one day. I’m so thankful about you two showing more of a daily life, as someone who struggles now going down stairs and just dealing with pain it’s so comforting to see someone else go through something similar. Also those Totoro cream puffs look like the best cream puffs, and I’m so happy I had breakfast while watching this lol.

Martina, just remember how happy you can make a new pupper. There is a pupper out there that has a space in it's heart that exactly Martina and Simon sized. When you meet, you will feel whole again and you will be the absolute universe for that lucky little guy or gal. You will still have room in your heart for Spudgy and the times you had together but you have so much love and light to share with the world and the beings in it and that is a beautiful thing.

I started crying when Martina cried. I had the same reaction when we decided to get another dog after our German Shephard, Rommel, passed away. He too, was old and sick. It's a bittersweet time, because you miss your Spudgy, but in turn, you get to make some lucky dog very, very happy to have a home with both of you. Good luck to you guys.

I'm having a rough week and I came back to this video on my comfort watch binge, but it just made me sad. I understand how Martina must have felt. When I lost my special needs dog back in 2015, it took me a year and a half to feel ready for another dog. I was scared, but I still knew that I was ready. My husband felt ready before I was, but we still waited until I was comfortable. I don't think it was very kind of Simon to try and convince Martina that she was ready when she clearly wasn't.

Martina is such a bright soul. To see her in pain breaks my heart. I love you Martina ❤️

Oh my, I teared up the moment Simon said they were thinking about adopting another dog, then Martina did and it took all I had to not cry. I've had a good few pets, and currently own a dog we rescued (literally by my local pub - I feel like an Irish stereotype here) and just the thought of leaving him in a kennel for the first time since we got him just fills me with worry. I know that Spudgy would be delighted for you both to adopt another dog to shower with love, and Meemers to have a house companion again.

I’ve never had to make the decision to have a new animal. They just know our family are suckers for fur babies and find us. They always bring joy to my life and I think that having a new pup will really help you through your grief

I have been binge watching you channels now fow a few months (watching some of them over and over) and I have to say that your new format of showing the setup before the tasting of the food from waking up to the very emotional part about adopting a new dog is a great balance. From seeing your real life struggles, to the happy experiences and showing us beautiful Japan through all of it makes me like you both even more.

Aw, when Martina cried. My childhood dog passed of old age years ago. After that I had a stray cat I had grown attached to, but he was hit by a car one day and came home to me just before he passed. 😢 I've not really been able to have my own pet since then.

I lost my dog after 12years having raised her from a puppy. Mum dragged me to the shelter so she could look for a dog but I wasn't ready. I ended up meeting a beautiful red female kelpie after she barked at me to get my attention. I ended up adopting her that day. I felt an amazing connection with her upon meeting her and am so grateful to have her In my life. My beautiful Cherry Blossom.

I was bawling when martina started to cry. I've had a dog who passed after 18 years. The pain was unbearable but turned into a warm smile. I do not know a life without a dog. I am 35. Give yourself the time you need and adopt new joy into your life. That's what I eventually did.

Literally bawled my eyes at the last part. Lost my puppy of 11 years in November last year. It was the hardest decision of my life.. I remembered watching the video about spudgy and mourning with the both of you. They're more than just pets, they're family. I'm just happy for the next puppy you both adopt knowing it will be truly loved.

I totally get where Martina is coming from. When I lost my first dog I didn’t think I was ready to ever get another dog, but then at the same time I felt so alone not having a dog in my home. Spudgy will live forever in your hearts (and the fans too). Getting a new dog will be great for you both! A new personality, a new cuddle buddy and many wonderful moments to be shared with a new puppy.

I cried when Martina started crying because my family understand the feeling. We all mourn a different way, my mother was mad at the vet and she thinks they are at fault that our family dog member died. But for me, I only feel gratefulness for Benji that he came into our lives.. He had a great life with us and it was a long life too, 13 years... I still remember crying while talking to my sister over the phone and I kept on saying "He was a good boi... he was such a good boi"
