The After School Specials ..were just brilliant for kids. Wish I was back in the 80's..watching these shows again. Retro..love it ....anyone else wanna take a time machine with me
My how time passes. Teens entertain themselves differently now. The step-sister was reading in her room instead of being on a computer or a cell phone. Not even on a landline. The "pretty in plaid" ruffle blouse. Hatem them. The country-western look was in as well as Princess Diana's fashion choices. One couldn't find a ruffle-free blouse anywhere except for prep stores. Thanks for posting. Afterschool Specials are like mac n cheese...comfort TV.
We all do!! ❤️ I've never met anyone who prefers the here & now to back then. It's a universal opinion because it was that much better. This has become a world not worth being. The decline has been drastic. I don't recognize this world anymore. It's foreign, alien.
In the 70's & 80's I thought the world sucked. Now, I'd give anything to go into a time warp and go back to the 80's, or maybe 1976. The 70's and 80's were awesome, compared to the world today
You're very wise. Too many women are so fearful of being alone that they shack up with the first degenerate that comes along. And then they wonder why their kids get hurt.
Anyone else bothered by the fact that a minor is beaten by the Mom's boyfriend and the SCHOOL, the DAD, the MOM and the JUDGE don't even give it a thought!
@@Violet-qk2vt We are not lost! We grew up in the best years with the best shows. Life is tough for all generations, period. You have to learn to take the good with the bad. 👊🏼✌🏼
@@Reshme77 I absolutely agree. You didn’t really get to see much versatility in her acting when it came to her role on “Mama’s Family”. But in this part that she played here, she really showed her talents.😊
Me too...I love them because I was an 80s teen and it's descent tv... not like the CRAP they show on tv or most movies today... that's why I love these after school school specials🎈🎊🎈
@@small_ed I’ve been thinking about it more lately because o my age I guess I wonder what my life would be like if I had taken the other road.I guess it’s normal, right? 😂
Thanks for the upload !! I wish The after school special would do my vice in life .Soap opera addiction !! 🤣🤣 That actress was on Mama's family in 1981-84 !!
Back in 1981 for one kid, $150 was decent. Minimum wage was $3.10. In 1988, I only got $114 in child support for one kid per month through 2003. Whatever is initially set won’t change unless you can afford a lawyer to go back to court.
This was a great!!! after school special movie. I am really glad renni thought about changing her life and went back to her Dad and her deaf boyfriend. She realize that people really liked the real renni not the tough girl image. Very good movie.
Children need these kind of educational programs so at least they are learning something especially if school or parents aren't teaching anything. Gotta have an outlet somewhere.
Gosh, I miss these shows and just the 80s period. They were much better times. No cell phones, no iPads, or social media. Days of cabbage patch kids, charm bracelets, and powdered sugar cigarettes are the days I want back. We no longer have shows like this which teach about stranger danger, drugs, and just morality overall. So sad that those days are LONG gone. I fear so much for my 3 year old's generation 😭
I so pray you remember this n do not give in to Technology to take care of your 3yr old as he or she grows up. Please play board games, read to eachother, lay on the grass & look up at the clouds using your imagination as to clouds look like. Have picnics in your yard n the park, make tents with furniture(safely), teach cooking, go to the library & enjoy what they offer together. Those memories you'll both love & be so much healthier. ❤️
I love these shows and miss the 80s. I love 70s and 90s stuff too. If you have any after school specials from the early and late 80s I'd love to see them.
Many kids run away from home due to the abuse they receive from other family members. Really sad. Home is supposed to be a safe place. No excuse for abuse, arrogance or being closed minded.
I was kinda hoping she would make up with her half sister gretchen too,but not bad overall.Watching these really brings me back and is really vry comforting for me.I suspect that most who watch these are about my age.I am 54,so I was 13 when this aired,so it was really made for someone like me back then.Teen drama was fun to watch, there was nothing else like it at the time..
That's crazy to me when she called her friend and said things are getting really bad here and she wants to go to Arizona, I would have done anything to get out of the life I was living and go live with her father's family.
New subscriber, l'm loving these uploads. They remind me of those "afterschool specials" that used to play mondays at 4pm. Many thanks! One of my favorites was called, "Please God, I'm Only 17" Great content with great lessons!
TWO years in Juvie for doing nothing? She was a passenger for 2 seconds in a stolen car clearly driven by another person that fled the scene. They could have at least made her do something that was actually bad.
I would say, I wish shows like this were still on but I know that most kids over 12 are already stuck on social media and don't watch much television. It would have to be in the medium that has their attention.
I know it s a short story. but it would of been a better story if there were more to it.like if her and the guy that she met would of became boyfriend and girlfriend and they both would end up at the same college and become veteran s.and they both got married. and her mom's boyfriend would end up in jail for abusing her. and her mom would go to cansoring and getting help for her self to find out why she stayed with an child abuser. and her and her step sister become friends.
Linda Cox yes. It’s great though how the young man ended up being accepted at college so he was able to follow his dreams. Things were so unfair for people with different abilities in those days x
